BlueTherm Pro for Android
Perfectly acceptable proof of concept app for a thermometer that's intended to be extended through use of the sdk. The app isn't great, but that's not really its point.
Because of limited Bluetooth range, I must keep my tablet running the app 20 feet from base unit. This makes it very inconvenient for baby sitting the tablet, you have to be in the same room with it! If the app sent email notifications for high/low alarms, this would make the product twice as useful. Please fix this!!!! I've spent a lot of money on this sophisticated product, come on fix it! Or open source your code so we can fix it!
Way too expensive. Either the app or the duo need to be fixed. It won't stay connected to the blue tooth. I am 5 feet from the duo with my phone and I have to reconnect it every minutes. This thing was a few hundred dollars and is supposed to be reliable to save time and make what I do easier. This is the first time I have used my product. I may send it back and get a refund. This thing is a joke and a hassle to deal with. I can't reconnect every 5 minutes. I have things going on and I am busy. 2thumbs down
Thermoworks makes great temperature data-gathering tools but they clearly aren't in the business of Android app development. The app is very immature, and a team experienced in Android GUI development needs to rewrite this. They also should release an open API so that third parties can gather and use the temp data stream.
Seems to obtain data fine. The graphical interface is crude and clunky at best. But I would forgive that. A much bigger problem: The plotting (which is a very important feature) is useless because the scale used for the y-axis is fixed (i.e. cannot be modified by the user) and the default range is much too large. Pinching to zoom does not solve the problem because it scales x and y axes at the same time. Work-around: email data to yourself and plot using spreadsheet or other software. Really?
This is pathetic, especially considering the price you pay. You can't view the temperatures in landscape display as the font used is too large and the bottom half of each sensor display is cut off. There is no option to change the font size. Nor can you simply rotate the device to view in portrait mode. I don't know where they got their screenshot for this listing in GooglePlay; but, it hasn't looked like that on any of my devices. As previously mentioned, the range is limited. Further, the connection keeps getting dropped. What's with that? Isn't there a continuous data stream to the device? Funny, when I connect a bluetooth speaker there's a continuous data stream (mind you in the opposite direction) and the connection isn't dropped. Why can Thermoworks not keep a continuous connection open between their device and my android device? If these software issues are not resolved, I will be seriously considering returning my BlueTherm Duo. Hugely disappointing right now. There's no point in having an accurate measuring device with REMOTE MONITORING (the whole point of the BlueTherm Duo, IMO) if the Remote Monitoring DOESN'T WORK.
I'd like to see a better working graph option. Once I get zoomed in to a scale that suits my application (cooking food) the lines disappear. Also, integration to Google Docs seems like it'd be a given these days. It's a very Barebones app, but it does what it's supposed to do. It monitors temp, and sets off an alarm.
The app works well, it needs a few refinements though. For example the graph is next to useless. It would be nice to have a graph that I could set my own temperature instead of having one defaulted to 1500 degrees especially when I'm cooking the food to 165 degrees . Also a manual would be nice, I still don't know what the sequence buttons do.
Their software looks like it was written by a 4 year old. Very basic interface but no manual. Well, actually there is something called a manual but it is one page of useless crap. Can't figure out how to change the temperature on the second probe and their company is only open when everyone is at work, not when you cook. Very unhelpful.
Cant flip phone and switch between table and graphs Cant view graphs of saved data Probe names not saved when saving data Saves/Emails data as CSV which is not compatible with their PC software Has option of changing alarm sound, however menu doesnt work... Please fix

The iPhone version works so much better. My biggest complaint is regarding the graphical chart. If you finally get it zoomed into where you want it, then change screens, you lose where you had it. Makes it useless for me.
