What is Mcalc?

Mcalc is a new menstruation calculator app. It tracks your period and keeps you updated on your current status and any upcoming important events of your menstrual cycle.

How does it work?

Simple! Just provide the app with some basic information about you and your cycle, and Mcalc will calculate the rest, taking your personal context into consideration. Afterwards you can set alarms and even log relevant events.

What features does it have?

̶ Neutrality Guaranteed: We understand that sex and gender identity are not the same, and because of this we designed our app so it can be used by almost everyone. Mcalc is 100% gender neutral and it won't assume anything of you while using it.

̶ Notifications: Mcalc will keep you updated on the important dates of your menstrual cycle. It has a built-in alarm system that will allow you to set notifications for events you care about.

̶ Adaptation: We all have different needs, and Mcalc can suit them accordingly. It will only display the information relevant to your purposes and won't nag you with irrelevant data. Using Mcalc on "sex mode" will help you reduce your risk of getting pregnant when having sex for fun, while setting it on "baby mode" will help you increase your chances of getting pregnant when planning for it.

̶ Tracking: Mcalc lets you keep a log of your activity for later reference. It's as simple as tapping a date in our calendar and ticking the events that happened that day to save them for further reference.

̶ Information: Discover new things about menstrual cycles by using Mcalc's informative pages.

Can't get it to save any of my information. Should be able to save to multiple peoples profiles. The calendars need a lot of work. Almost useless to look at.

As to be expected there are issue that need to be sorted out (remember that the guys who made this app are not getting paid!) but the potential is huge and I am very keen to see the end result. Please donate to this project if you can!

N70%
by N####:

I am kind of disappointed. The weight limit only when to 150 in both kilos or pounds.

N70%
by N####:

It's a cool app but won't let me put in the date of my last period at all. Keeps doing the default 2013-4-02. Really making me a little mad.

F70%
by F####:

The app is promising but not helpful to somebody such as myself-my doctor and I have agreed that I can skip periods for three months using my birth control pills and there is no way to adjust the app for this

X70%
by X####:

I'll just install this first and wait for the update.

A70%
by A####:

Great to be lgbt/gender neutral etc but maybe we can work on including individuals of all sizes? I weigh more than 150lbs, I uninstalled as quickly as I installed.

L70%
by L####:

won't covert to inches/lbs forces me to say I'm 11 feet tall, also won't let me choose baby mode :( unfortunate

M70%
by M####:

This is genius and necessary and makes me happy! I would love the ability to track mental health/mood swing impacts (options like: depressed/irritable/typical mood) in the symptoms and/or events section.

P70%
by P####:

But can't change from kgs to pounds or cm to inches. Changes don't take. I will continue to try to use it as updates roll out, and will cheerfully provide more detailed feedback if asked.

M70%
by M####:

App won't let you put in height below 140 inches and and the age input won't let you go go under 14. I am 62 inches as a woman of 5'2. It's kind of ridiculous!

M70%
by M####:

Wont work whatsoever, cant check other options, uncomprehensive, wont tell what highlighted days are on the calender, nice aesthetics tho.

M70%
by M####:

On first look: Good looking UI Simple enough to figure out Very informative for those new to menstruation/ovulation Metric/imperial units settings don't properly change No button/menu option to exit/close app (it took more than 5 "back" button hits for it to close) Overall: I love the idea! It definitely fills a gap in the market. I hope the devs are able to continue updating and improving this app

When I saw the post in tumblr for this app, I thought it would have been more sophisticated than it is now, but everything has to start from somewhere! One of my problems is that height can't be below 140 inches and when I click the options to change it to pounds and inches it doesn't make note of the change. But in a nutshell this app is pretty cool. It just needs a little TLC

M70%
by M####:

My average cycle is 43 days and the highest it goes is 35. It also wont allow me to enter my correct height in inches. But I can see it being a great app with problems like this fixed.

O70%
by O####:

When I switched from centimeters to inches, it wouldn't let me enter my accurate height (60 inches since I'm 5 feet tall). I love the idea and will continue to test but at this point, it doesn't even calculate my period. I've been using WomanLogPro which despite the bias is extremely comprehensive. I'll keep checking in on this app because I like the idea but I am unlikely to use it until the first update rolls out.

This app is in Alpha, not Beta, I don't see why you even released it. Surely kickstart it first, rather than release sonething unfinished!

E70%
by E####:

- Doesn't save my info and I have to put it in every time I load the app - The calculator only loads half the time - Switching from kilos to pounds and cm and inches never saves If anything actually saved, it would actually be practical. For now I'm sticking with MyDays.

M70%
by M####:

I can't get passed the first step because this app has a minimum height of 140. In inches, that's over 11 feet tall. I am not going to remove the app because updates can fix many of the bugs. Just please update soon!

M70%
by M####:

I'm not unintelligible because this is a perfect idea and I want it to work so badly. But it's not working. It's barely letting me put in my information and then it's not predicting my next period at all. It also isn't properly accepting changes to kilograms and centimeters. :/

A beta is a functioning product being tested for useability by target customers. This is not a beta. This is a framework that can be presented to a client before any effort is put in to produce a product. No changes save, no predictions can be made. I would love to test a product with which I can interact. While I applaud the publishers for their concept - neutrality, proposed function, and judgement-free modes are all excellent steps forward in the market for this sort of app, I cannot give a higher rating until I actually get to test the product.

G70%
by G####:

Definitely a Beta, but I feel the need to give credit to the developers. They had 0 budget and they managed to pull it of (kind of) Concept is brilliant and the design is definitely awesome. Hope the next update fixes all the bugs.

M70%

Weight only goes to 150. Changes don't save. Looks good, but needs a LOT of fixing.

Y70%
by Y####:

I understand that this is in beta. I love the idea of it. But my issue is with the first thing: It doesn't let you add weight past 150. So I went to another calculator and will wait till the app gets another update. Please keep working on it.

Y70%
by Y####:

First of all, *bear* is the proper word in the summary at the top of this page. It makes you look unprofessional to have improper grammar in your product summary. On the other hand, I am really happy this idea came about. There should be more gender-neutral apps out there to make all genders comfortable. Despite this, I am very unhappy with how the app works right now. I cannot properly input my information to calculate anything, it doesn't save my statistics, and it is way to difficult to work.

M70%
by M####:

I love love the idea of a gender neutral cycle tracker/calculator. Even though I am not part of the LGBT community this is aimed for, I appreciate the fact that this app isn't all pink and obvious on my phone. However, as it is now, it's completely worthless to me. The settings don't save, so every time I would have to do the math again to convert metric to American measurements. Especially since the range bars don't adjust to the range for American measurements.

Y70%
by Y####:

I was so excited for this when I read about it, but it doesn't save anything, making it useless at actually tracking anything. It keeps resetting weight, age, etc and won't go into baby mode. Not that I need that right now but it would have been nice to check out the features. You should have gotten this worked out before charging people money for an app that doesn't work. I want my dollar back.

Y70%
by Y####:

it's a great app but I really hope you guys improve it because I'm havin a few issues. Firstly I can't change the date of my last period? like, no keypads/number pads appear so I can't input it, lol. Which basically kind of renders it useless, because now it says "your period should start in 156 days ago". Also, perhaps you guys should state if it's in metric (I presume this is what it's using now? which is great for me but Americans might find it confusing) or not. All in all, great idea, pretty design, but it's really not working. :/

R70%

I'm super excited about this app and can't wait for some of the issues to get worked out. Just like everyone else I'm having problems with things not "sticking" until I come back and do it a couple of times - a save button on Settings would be great so we know that it's actually done something maybe. The choice of what day of the week to start on would be awesome. I put in my latest information but it didn't seem to calculate right and now I can't seem to calculate again... I'm just thrilled that this doesn't have hearts, flowers and happy little duckies all over it. Can't wait for the next update. Thanks!

Buggy as all get out. Changing kg to lbs, etc. Doesnt work. Pretty much anything entered doesn't 'stick'

Y70%
by Y####:

Users can switch from metric to standard units, but the minimum height is set at 140 units regardless. In other words, if you want to enter your height in inches, you must be at least 11'8". I also had trouble entering the start date of my last period. The first time I used the app, the current date was displayed by default. When I attempted to enter a different date, the app just put the new date in front of the old date, which confused the app and caused it to believe that I had last menstruated in 1909. Hilarious, but not what I want from a menstruation-tracking app. Once I finally got it working, I tried to set an alarm, but nothing happened. I really want to like this app and look forward to these problems being addressed in future versions, but I can't recommend it as it is.

F70%
by F####:

It's good in theory but it doesn't work well. I put in my stats and it kept changing them to other numbers. Then it froze and crashed. Nice.

Y70%
by Y####:

still very buggy. excusable since it's a new app. please fix the issues going on with it including not being able to change the settings! otherwise, i love the look and idea for the app. once updates are made to it, i'm sure i'll enjoy it more than the other menstrual apps i have used. also love that it's gender neutral!

Y70%
by Y####:

This app is so buggy it's ridiculous. I know they are still working on it, but they really should have waited until it was more user friendly and actually worked to release it. Kind of annoyed I bothered paying for it.

G70%
by G####:

Bug issues to fix: -weight is more than 150 -switching between kg and lbs -setting the date of last period Looking forward to when all these issues will be fixed. This app is an awesome idea!

Y70%
by Y####:

I got it to change to pounds and inches but it seems like it will be a great app to have!
