PDX Pipeline: Portland Events for Android
Can't load the app to even see how good it is.
Great information on everything Portland
All paid advertising. No actual calendars, for all the "calendar" sections. I get more info from the Oregon Live events section, and that's not saying much.
The design in this app is garbage. These developers should be banned from the Play Store for this abortion. Also, iPhone screenshots? Seriously?
This app is worthless
The same "events" every day. Obviously, businesses pay to have their events here. Neighborhood festivals, most concerts, etc don't show up. Just not useful at all for a resident.
Only seems to show paid advertising. I know there's tons of stuff going on in PDX ... guess I need to check out Willamette Weekly's app to see if they have a calendar. Oh yeah ... This app requests way too many permissions. Nosy programmers or just too lazy to fix this?
Tells you all events coming up in Portland. Don't ever miss something great in your area again.
I love the events but why does it need access to my text messages and camera and much more?
Too slow and unresponsive.
I have a Galaxy S5 and it is not updating properly. For example it is not telling me that the Italian Festival is happening this weekend even though it says so online. I really like this app though.

We've had this app out since March, 2011, & it has over 45K downloads b/w iTunes & Android. Some points: 1) It works well for all people as far as we can tell & we test it. We have a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 & we have no problems. We have tested many Android devices w/o problems for last 2 years. There are 1,000s of Android devices & the only way we can address issues is if you contact us w/ your problem (pdxpipeline @ gmail). 2) We do not collect or use any personal data. We are not collecting any personal data, & I am not sure why our latest updates ask for new permissions on messages or phone calls. I don't know why, but we aren't collecting anything personal about you. 3) What do we collect: The only data we collect is straight aggregate data including: how many people are using the app, average time spent on app by, popularity of tabs, & which city-metros people are in. That's it! All aggregate stat data and no personal or even individual statistics. Only overall. 4) The event tab lists full event info for each event just like on our site. Not sure why that is not working for commenter Joe Holstein, but have not heard this problem from anyone else.
But no info loads on my htc inspire. Hubs uses it all the time on his iPhone

Broken
PDX Pipeline offers great content on the web site and I'm glad to see an app available. The app has a great Happy Hour tab, a vital resource for finding Portland happy hour scenes. The Events tab lists Portland events but no details. If I could see the full event headers that may give some insight, but they aren't fully readable. In the end I revert to the web page which kinda defeats having the app. Looking forward to improvements.
Why does an app that is essentially an events calender need to be able to make phone calls or send sms msgs without my permission? Great site and great app but may be uninstalling shortly if these new permissions aren't removed
This is a fantastic ap...nice selection of events and easy to navigate
No search capability for Android phones (hard to believe in this day and age of search UIs especially on a Google phone), you can be overwhelmed by just the amount of stuff it presents. really needs to be re-designed like for example, if I want to just see what events going on July 12, I should be able to search 'july 12' or go to a calendar screen and click 'july 12', not scroll through massive amounts of data until I get to 'july 12'. Good idea, not-very-well-done user-presentation of data.
I see room for improvement, but really a great find. Easy to use
There seem to be a few bugs still. It shows events sometimes, then others nothing loads at all. I agree with a previous comment that I should be able to search by date. Bionic.
So excited that I can take the Pipeline calendar with me everywhere I go!
Make it movable to the SD card, add search capabilities, and the ability to look at just specific dates. Then this will be a 5 star app. At the very least just allow it to be moved to the SD card, this is very important to people that don't have a huge amount of internal storage on their phones. I'm uninstalling it right now for that reason. Oh well...
Not available for Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1010 WiFi only version. It's not showing in the market.
What for? Hmmm?
Cool deal!
This app is great except that I can't find a way to disable the messages. I'm not sure I'll keep it.
I liked this app. Calendar had lots of entries. But I had to uninstall because the file's big & can't save to SD card.

I can't understand why the app needs access to personal information like images among others.
