Night Owl Lite

Not updated in 4 years and won't work on Android 5 or higher phones. So it's pretty much a dead app. You can download the app called "MEye", it works on Nightowl DVR's. I got a new phone with 5.1.1 and not the app no longer works. It displays blank screens for each camera even though it says Playing and its downloading the video stream. On my old phone with 4.1 or 4.4 it worked fine. I emailed nightowl support 2 years ago about an update and never got a response.

just got off the phone with tech support. night owl lite is no longer supported with newer Android OS, so write down all the information on your device list, ip address, domain name, etc. and download meyepro. same developer i think, so it looks almost the same, and you need the same info. only difference is once you get one online and viewable, you need to click the tiles and add the other ones from the same device. boom, works perfectly. i have android 5.o on galaxy s5 and i just did this. it worked.

It doesn't work with the newest android OS. Not a big surprise since all night owl software seems to be programmed by a high schooler. Tech support says they are working on fixing it. Expect a update when the newer android OS comes out. Don't buy nighto owl.

This app works great on my Samsung tab2. However does not on my LG G4. Was told Night owl light does not work on newer androids. And told to download night owl HD. However Night owl HD does not work with my TL DVR16 5GB. Hope I didn't buy a system that can't be viewed on newer phones. Called the support line, and it hangs up on me. After reading reviews below, downloaded meyepro. Works great.

App connects to system but no longer any video stream. Tried cache clean and uninstall/reinstall. No change. Phone was update to android 5 recently but app still worked after update. No longer....shame. myEyepro now app of choice...it works. 2/3/2016...had video for the first time in months....ONCE. Opened the app again on the 3/3 and nothing...still. Developers clearly uninterested in even trying to work this one out. Sticking to myEyepro. See you all there!

App will not stream video with Lollipop, Marshmellow, or Nougat. Completely useless now. I understand taking time to update, but THREE releases with no fix. Pathetic. This app is no longer supported by the developer. So glad I spent a bunch of money on sub-par camera quality, buggy DVR, and now non-functional apps. Stay away form Night Owl.

my cameras were working fine then all of a sudden nothing can't bring them up. We have tried several things like resetting our phones and tablets, deleting the app and downloading it again nothing.....

It was working fine, but quit showing video after I upgraded my OS to 5.02 on my Moto G phone. It still connects, but just doesn't show the video. It also works OK on my Nexus 7 with 5.02

App is currently pointless, and the hardware/system is next to pointless without the app. As of this moment, I'd recommend buying a different security system brand.

I can access my home DVR about 10% of the time. When I really need it, it will NOT connect and cannot get any tech support. So discouraged.

Good Job on fixing the up grade. It works great. Was so easy to set up I just called and they did everything from my computer. Hope it keeps working. Dont know whe I cant see all the cameras on my phone

This app runs in The backgroud if you "exit" .. you have to fully exit meaning there is another exit step... I used up 5.5gigs over night.. I turn off running in background on this stupid app.. why is it even on? Beware if your wondering why your using up so much data.

It worked on my HTC ONE, but then I upgraded. Now it doesn't show the footage. It says it's "Playing," & that it's "connected," but no pictures. DOES TECH SUPPORT READ THESE COMMENTS TO FIX THIS?????!!!????? Or am I just wasting my time with my complaint???!!! PLEASE FIX!!!!!!!

Unable to see the video feed even tho it says playing.... This is happening on both my Amazon Fire Tablet and my Google Nexus 5x. Info is correct and it connects, buffers and plays, but no video feed shows up. Please help me out Dev! UPDATE developers contacted me and said to try MeyePro, works very well with my antiquated Night Owl system.

Sent several emails to night owl people in past few weeks and they have failed to reply, answer or help. The app works great on s4 with kitkat.

Verizon just pushed Lollipop to my phone. To my surprise, the Night Owl Lite application no longer works. It's a great app, but it needs to be updated to work with Lollipop. Fix should be simple. Thanks.

I have had this system for three years with multiple phones and never had a problem. Tech support won't answer emails on this problem either

When this app works it's great but doesn't work half the time! If nite owl can't fix the problem take the app down! It's use less if I can't ever use it!! If an upgrade is needed then upgrade! Useless!!!

did get the lite version to work under 4.1.2 other then that tried kitkatt and loli and either does not connect or you see nothing, my skill high level

This app sucks, it only works on some cameras and calling tech support is a joke they just give you attitude. Night Owl has their company employees posting positive feedbacks, don't fall for it!!!

Can't be trusted.Worked for almost a year then stopped working after latest android phone update, lollipop 5.0.But started working again after two days. Now 5 days later it stopped working again, but only on android phone with new Lollipop update. Installed another app called Myeyepro by the same person who made the night owl app and it worked fine. So the problem is probably how the app locates the server or how it displays the video.

Having problems with cell phone, not able to connect. This needs to be fixed soon. Are you going to fix the problem bought to use with phone??? Would like a refund since it doesn't work.

NightOwlDvr Hardware works good but the mobile app does not function as intended. I need it to work right so i can remote view my system on my android. Tried configuring by the book(instructions), several alternatives, and changing domain name config around as well. No luck ,android app offical needs serviced.. thanks

I am not able to get audio with dvr let 8 5 gb. Please advise thanks

No video steam anymore after 3 months of no problems. Weird. I reset my phone to see if it would fix the issue. Same result. No support no fix nothing. Big 0 for me

Had this app for 1 year. Worked great. Never a problem unless it was with proper internet or router. Just upgraded to moto G 2 generation with lollipop 5.0.2 app completley useless. I connect it recognize the connection it buffers and it plays but does not show any video at all. Tried settings on phone and dvr to no avail. Had 5 stars. Now only 1 star.. Called tech support for nightowl and they were no help.

8/15 I'm glade its not my dvr. I use a unit by Watchdog and both dvr and apps are by far better. This unit and mobil devices are configured correctly and worked ok on older android OS but not the latest as in lollipop, was not that great of an app in the first place. Enjoy! Update 11/15 still not working. I now have a friend that also has this unit and hes got the same problem not image and he's using the same OS on a Samsung S4. Nothing updated on the app store and no feed back from the company Night Owl?

spoke to night owl tech support and they claim a new version is coming but when? so for now they get one star which is more than they deserve considering the app does not work at all.

I'm not understanding why this use to work, but now does not. My husband has a dated android and he can access cameras, yet I can't with my android S6. This makes no sense, and is highly frustrating. Continues to read - playing. ..but no images!

What's the point of security cameras, if I can only access them about once a month. I haven't changed any of my info and the app decides when it is willing to show the actual feed. Yesterday while my husband was home they worked, today while I'm home alone just black boxes and it says it is playing

You will have to find another program to view your camera's of you update your Android device to Lollipop.

Bought this system for the mobile viewing but that no longer works. Pretty much just a paperweight now. I've sent two emails and have not gotten any replies yet.

It's hard enough just to get the antiquated software to work, now the app quits working more often than not. Won't be buying another night owl when I happily replace this one. Contacted support more than once without response. So sad. It was rated good when I bought it.

Going to update with a diffrent camera brand nightowl camears are not so good as the competition,even the cheap ebay knock offs are beating them out with quality and price ,so it like 700 bucks of cameras that im going to get rid of to get a diffrent setup.

Cameras used to work, but now can't see the picture on my phone and it says that it failed to connect to server. Whats up with it, need help

Video says connected but no video. Ptz controls do still work when using on phone and viewing camera locally on tv. - Update: cleared cache and user history in app manager for night owl, then uninstalled. Rebooted phone, reinstalled night owl and now video is working again.

Galaxy s6, just plain wont work. Works on iphone5s, iphone 6, ipad mini, samsung tab4... but not the s6. Come on guys, this is a pretty major flaw.

After Android 5.1 came out quit working....a shame...excellent app. until update. Pleas fix bug! Was a 4 or 5 star app. but has to be a 1 until the video problem for Android 5.1 is fixed.
