Jacket is a long outer shirt to the waist or hips, used to withstand wind and cold weather. The jacket opening is located at the front of the neck down. Zippers, buttons, or belts are used as a tool to open and close the jacket openings. The coat is longer than the jacket, usually the length of the mantle starting from around the buttocks until it reaches below the knee. In English, the term jacket also means a suit, and not only includes a jacket in the Indonesian sense (sports jacket or leather jacket).

Unlike shirts or blouses made from thin fabrics, jackets are made of thick fabrics and are often dressed in upholstery and inner heating materials such as feathers should be birds or goose feathers.
