Florida 511 – Florida’s 511 Traveler Information App
Florida 511 is a free download providing up-to-date traffic information on all of Florida’s interstates, toll roads and many major metropolitan roadways including I-95, I-4, I-75, I-10 and Florida’s Turnpike. The app offers text and audio traffic updates and important alerts, as well as camera views on crashes, congestion, construction and more. All Florida 511 traffic data is provided by the Florida Department of Transportation.
The app uses GPS tracking to identify the users' location and provide users with traffic information within a selected number of miles of their location. Users can set the app to provide information for a range of up to 200 miles from their location, view traffic in a select city or county by typing in a desired location or receive traffic information based on their registered My Florida 511 custom routes. Travel time information also is available based on location and direction of travel. App users can share traffic information from the app to their favorite SMS messaging, email and social media services.

Florida 511 covers the entire state of Florida including major roadways in Daytona Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Gainesville, Jacksonville, Lakeland, Lake City, Melbourne, Miami, Orlando, Pensacola, Sarasota, St. Petersburg, Tallahassee, Tampa, West Palm Beach and more.

Loaded the app to monitor the Skyway Bridge opening and closing status during TS Colin. Guess what..... bridge is closed but there is no alert unless you go to the website then there is an alert but the app does not mention a thing about it. The only alert is to drive safely because of storm conditions. It supposedly uses my GPS location for alerts and I am less than 2 miles from the Skyway Bridge toll booths but nothing in the alerts to tell me it is closed. Just useless.

App is in its infancy, it's a wonderful idea for Florida Residents but is poorly designed and not well thought out. More than likely designed for capturing users information and activities, as a form of spying.

Today by 9:40 pm Palmetto by 25 st exit construction had all lane block . The app failed to give as any warning .I was really looking forward to this app.

Used this app in the past. Loved it due to the near "close enough" camera pics of traffic. Upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ some months ago and it wasn't installing. Very pleased to see this app was updated

Doesn't work!! Downloaded it to check on an accident on the Turnpike near exit one in Homestead. It pulled up a list of everything in the state EXCEPT what I needed. Also had traffic incident on the list thatcwas 30 days old. Then it stopped working. Can't wait to finish this review so I can uninstall this app!!

Permission to use microphone, why?? I see no reason. Only permission you need is my location. Why pictures?? So is FL511 snooping around in my hand held PC that has a phone app on it?
