Wooden Fence Panels Design

A wooden fence comes in many different shapes and forms. Each type of fence offers a spectacle of different benefits for the estate owner. Whether one is looking for security, privacy or simply a great look for your garden, a panelled fence is a great option.

Fence panels are relatively easy to install and can be fitted together using various methods. One very easy method is to nail the sections to the respective posts. This can be done quite easily, but needs to be carried out correctly to ensure a strong fence. Another way to fit panels is to slot them between concrete posts. Either way is a viable option but if your budget is quite low, the latter option should be avoided.

If you are looking for a panel that is strong and can be repaired if damaged, the overlap design is a good choice. Some of the lower priced panels are indeed cheap but also constructed using thin wood, leaving them vulnerable to damage at a later date.

If you are planning to construct a fence on a very low budget and are sure that future damage will not be an issue, the waney edge panel should be the top choice. This type is thin but also durable as they are dip treated during production. Keep in mind though that this type of panel cannot be repaired at a later date if damaged; the panel will have to be replaced completely.

Close board panels (Feather board)

This type of panel is known for its overall strength and ability to last in all weathers. It makes a strong boundary and if maintained it will not need replacing for years to come.

Hit and miss fence panels

This design of fence panel come with either horizontal or vertical boards depending on what your personal taste is. Hit and miss panels are ideal for borders that have to with stand high winds, especially if there is not a lot of other buildings around to help shelter it. It has slight gaps built into the fence to allow wind to pass through but is still manages to provide full privacy to a property.

Chevron panels

Each individual piece is built in a diagonal design giving a fresh and stylish look. There are small gaps between the boards to let light in whilst keeping a medium privacy level to a property. A common combination is the use of shrubbery as added privacy.

Chevron Hit and miss panels

This incorporates the design aspects of a normal hit and miss fence panel, but is in the style of a Chevron panel so you get the best of both worlds. Another fantastic feature is it looks the same on both sides, which is ideal for a boarder shared with a neighbour.

Palisade fences

These are mainly used to mark the boarder at the front of a property each panel is cut in graduating heights and placed at a boards length across the border. It gives a curved design and looks great on any style of home.

Chilham panels

Typically known as "good both sides" the Chilham panel is only made by a handful of companies in the UK. The unique design has no railings so it gives you and your neighbour a pleasant view of the panel.

Paliframe garden fence panels

This incorporates the "Palisade design" in to a framed panel to give an alternative look to a garden. It lets a lot of light in and is ideal for gardens with a lot of plants around its boarders as privacy is sacrificed over looks.

Venetian designs

A beautiful alternative to "Chevron and Hit and miss" fences it lets a lot of light in whilst keep a fair amount of privacy. The individual boards are thin and are placed horizontally giving an excellent finish to any home.
