About DIY Jewelry Box Ideas

For years jewelry boxes were used almost exclusively for storing jewelry. This of course, is a good thing. You need a place where you can put your precious stones, gold and silver to protect them from tarnishing and dust. A jewelry box is the right size to house these treasures.

Through the years jewelry boxes have become a storage place for just about everything. I have jewelry boxes that I use to house my jewelry, but I have other jewelry and trinket boxes that I use to store little odds and ends.

In my bathroom I have a box that holds tacks, rubber bands and paper clips. It is a convenient and out-of-the-way place to store them. In my bedroom I have a small box that holds small nails, picture wire and hooks. When I need one of those items I don't need to search around a dozen different places, I just go to my boxes and get what I need.

A jewelry or trinket box is a good thing to use when emptying your pockets. They can hold fingernail clips, money clips, loose change and pocket knives. In the morning they are in one place and you can put them back in your pocket without forgetting where you put them.

The living room is a good place to store things in a jewelry or trinket box. In a medium or large box you can put candy and chocolates in to pass around when company comes. If you have a fireplace or candles you can use a box to keep the matches in.

If you are a person who likes and plays a lot of games you can use jewelry boxes and trinket boxes to hold cards, dice, dominoes, gaming pieces, golf tees or chips. A very creative and convenient way to keep game pieces from getting lost and keep them in one place.

In the kitchen you can use a trinket box to hold sugar packets, toothpicks, just fill the box with sugar, sugar cubes and tea packets. It is a great way to serve your guests and could become a great conversational piece.

A large flat box would be a fun unique way of storing your small crafting supplies. You could store tape, pens, pencils, notepads, scissors, crochet needles, sewing needles, sewing pins, tape measures and even knitting needles.

If you don't like your keys, of any kind, lying about on the dresser, cabinet or table then a jewelry box or trinket box would be a safe place to store them. Any keys would fit: car keys, post office keys, house keys, drawer keys or locker keys. You would always know where they were and you wouldn't waste a lot of time searching for them.

Jewelry boxes and trinket boxes are great places to store things. They are convenient and beautiful. They don't take up a lot of storage space. They can be placed anywhere in the house. You will always know where everything is.
