The Japanese House

Housing in Japan includes modern and traditional styles. Two patterns of residence are dominant in contemporary Japan: a single-family detached homes and multiple-unit buildings, both owned by an individual or corporation and rented as apartments to tenants, or owned by the occupants. Additional types of housing, especially for unmarried people, including a boarding house (which is popular among students), dormitories (common in companies), and barracks (for members of the Self-Defense Forces, police and other public employees).
The architectural style of traditional Japanese houses are also popular in western countries as the architectural style "Zen" because his style that can easily be combined with a minimalist style. Almost all Japanese homes using wood material, and made simple and not too much luggage.

Washitsu is a tatami room in a traditional Japanese buildings. tatami mat is made from a kind of straw that comes from the Japanese traditionally made. The vast size of a room can be seen from the number of tatami measured on the floor. Although washitsu is a multi-purpose room for various purposes, there is one major washitsu called Zashiki (座 敷). In the traditional Japanese house, Zashiki is in the innermost part of the house, and used as a guest room.
genkan
One that characterizes the Japanese house is genkan, or entrance. Genkan is a corridor where residents or guests in and take off their shoes or slippers. The use genkan is to avoid soiling their tatami.
Toilet
The toilet is a traditional Japanese squat toilets. When this type of toilet is still often found when visiting Japan. To use the opposite to the one in Indonesia where they face the wall behind the toilet.
kitchen
