About General Luna Education App
The General Luna Education App is designed to be a companion to the film Heneral Luna. It contains a variety of information regarding the historical context of the film. Sections include info on the history, politics, and individuals who helped to shape the events during the period of the Filipino - American war. The information has been thoroughly researched with many references provided for further reading and investigation. Further references can be supplied by contacting us through the SUPPORT email link.
The app includes a section which provides details about ARTIKULO UNO, the production company created by the Producers and Director of Heneral Luna. Artikulo Uno is a film production company which is proud to bring meaningful works to the Filipino cinema, films which challenge our thinking and the way we perceive the world around us.Through the app, you can learn more about the people behind this revolutionary firm who want to do their part in the development of the film industry in the Philippines. Swipe the screen up or down to read more.
The App includes a unique feature, an ANIMATED BATTLE SCENE using Augmented Reality. The Augmented Reality scene shows the BATTLE OF MANILA, during the period of February 4-5, 1899. The activation of the Augmented Reality feature requires a "trigger". For this app, the trigger is the head and shoulders of Herneral Luna as seen on the movie poster. You can trigger the Augmented Reality feature by using the in-app camera function to focus on Heneral Luna as seen in the movie poster on the website:
www.Henerallunathemovie.com
The Augmented Reality feature includes the period from the time of the first shot fired in the Filipino-American war, through to the retreat of the Filipino forces from Manila under American pursuit. The trigger to see the battle map can be the printed movie poster, or you can use the movie poster from the web site to trigger the Augmented Reality animated battle map. When the Augmented Reality function operates on your mobile device, it looks for the trigger in the view of the mobile device camera. Then, when "seen" by the camera, the Battle Map of Manila is displayed on the mobile device screen. Hitting the NEXT button will allow you to see the map animate, showing the movement of Filipino and American forces during the period of February 4-5 1899.
Occasionally the AR function may "freeze". The AR function can be reset by momentarily covering the camera lens, and then opening it again to see the trigger. This should alleviate the AR functionality if it freezes for any reason.
Perhaps the most important section of the app for educators and teachers is the THEMES FOR DISCUSSION section. This section poses several questions for discussion by classes, teachers, and students. Background for these questions is provided in the previous sections of the app. An additional EMAIL SECTION is provided so students can create their replies to the area of discussion. The emails can be sent directly to their teacher's email address.
