This historical guidebook application allows you to view historic maps of Edinburgh from 1647 and 1765 with pin markers allowing you to get more information on the buildings that once stood there: their history and images.
The application also contains a zoomable and scrollable engraving of old Edinburgh.
Press the map title at the top of the screen to switch between the maps easily and view your current location on the historic maps. You can also compare the historical maps with a stored modern map of Edinburgh to see the changes the city has gone through.
It is completely free and no Internet (data) connection is required so the maps are quick to refresh and scroll through.

Wonderful but for 1 thing! The pictures in places of interest are tiny on my phone (xperia sp). Rotation doesn't help and there is no pinch to resize! Strange. Otherwise lovely.

Neat, fluid and a fascinating subject matter. Of course, it would be lovely to see yet more places, but this is lovely as is. One thing i'd like to see is references, so that facts can be verified, but perhaps the onus should fall on the app user. Thank you.
