how to make popsicle stick truck
For axles, slide a stick into each wheel (if needed, sand down sticks' sides so wheels can turn). To join wheels, glue two stacks of sticks to axles. Then add crossbeams by gluing two more stacks between wheels until chassis is high enough for cab to clear wheels.
For cab, cut off top of milk carton with a utility knife (a parent should do all cutting). Fold one side of open carton straight in to make a windshield; the sides will fold in at an angle. Cut out a section from bottom of carton to make the truck bed; slide piece from bottom into cab front.
For truck bed's sides, glue sticks to inside of carton in a grid shape. Glue truck body to chassis.
Popsicle Stick Truck Supplies:
* Jumbo Popsicle Sticks {4 per truck}
* Mini Popsicle Sticks {2 per truck}
* Craft Paint
* Paint Brushes
* Glue
* Cardstock
* Scissors
Directions:
* Grab FOUR large popsicle sticks and TWO mini sized ones {this is per truck you want to make}
* Lay the four large ones next to each other, one by one, on a flat surface. Now grab your other two mini popsicle sticks and glue them the other direction to create a fence {hard to explain but refer to the above picture for example}
* Once all the popsicle sticks are glued together, set aside to let it all dry completely. Repeat for each truck you are making.
* When the glue is dry, have children paint their popsicle sticks however they like, while you cut out some wheels & other truck features from the cardstock.
* To finish off the Popsicle Stick Truck, glue the cardstock pieces in place as well as any other embellishments you see fit {think rhinestones, glitter, paper flames etc. Then display or play with proudly!
