About SL DigiSlate

A slate(clapboard) intended for use in professional film productions. Designed for anyone that needs a digital slate for their production.

I apologize for the premature posting of information for version 4.0 of my slate app. I wasn't aware that the description has gone "live". It was just written in preparation for the actual release. Unfortunately there are still some technical hurdles I'm trying to overcome with SMPTE support. I've found that it works on some devices like a Galaxy Tab, but not on my Nexus 7. Please know that I'm actively trying to resolve this issue.

The current version is still 3.11

Thank you.

See http://apps.mechnology.com/my-apps/sl-digislate/ for help.

Other apps written by us include:

ON THE LEVEL 4, a best of class digital leveling tool used by engineers, physicians, and installers all over the world.

THAAD, my first publicly released game inspired by the arcade classic Missile Command.

SL DIRECTORS VIEWFINDER, a digital version of the classic directors finder. Directors and cinematographers can use this app to compose shots in a variety of formats, cameras, and lenses.

Nice app and I hope it's developers will continue to refine it. Having used it for a shoot here is some feedback for the devs. 1. If you use a real Digislate you will see that after you snap it the TC freezes for 2-3 seconds and then restarts. This should be the default way this app works. Touch to snap, TC freezes, then the slate returns to the 'open'state with the TC running. that eliminates having to touch twice. 2. I appreciate you can't jam TC as that's going to be heavy, but a common practise is to manually snap TCs on all cameras to 0:00:00 at the start of the shoot. On the setup screen you have a TC reset button but it doesn't start the TC. The TC starts running when you exit the setup and even worse, when you gp back into setup, the TC resets to 0 when you exit. You need a 'snap TC' button that resets to 0 and starts It running and don't stop it unless that button is pressed again. 3. I see why you have disabled the screen timeout, to stop it going blank while you are waiting for the cams to turnover, but that means you have to manually turn off the screen after snapping or the tab battery will soon go flat. Maybe add timeout options to the setup. 4. You havedisabled the auto-rotate! So you have to make sure you hold the tablet the right way up! Please re-enable it, or at least add an option.

I've used this app for years across several devices and now I can't get to any of the controls using my new Samsung Note 4. If I had rated this app earlier I would have given it 5 stars I'm not sure what's happened to it now. Sure would appreciate some help from the developer!

Thank you for replying to our comments. The option to start time run when clap, will make me order. Already bought the viewfinder :-) Great dev!

I like the app, a red blink in conjunction with the clapping would be nice. Also it doesn't streach well on galaxy tab.

A bit too small to use on my phone... Can't wait to get it running on a Xoom tablet!

When timecode stops, the clapper claps. Should be when the timecode starts. Not sure what is wrong.

Crashes for me when adding notes to shot in shot list other than that saved me $100's from buying a real digislate very useful!

It's a really nice app, I like that it keeps the user timecode going between takes even when the app loses focus.

I loved this app but with the added log it's perfect! Im using it to shoot a short film this fall. A-plus!

Good overall, could use more volume and an automatic 3-second countdown to slate with tones , to allow 1-handed operation. Thanks for your efforts!

Good start. Still needs some work. I'll elaborate later. Pretty good though. So far there isn't anything like it on android. Needs SEND TO SD!

Minor improvement I'd like to see is better access to the shot log. It would be nice if after you slate a take, the take info comes up and let's you edit notes, star rate, circle, etc. right then. It's a little annoying having to go through menus after every take just to mark whether it was good or not or make notes. Other than that it is awesome. Great customization. Easy to use. Simple. Love the shot log (just with it was easier to edit each take info)

Aside from that it doesn't work on many new devices, this app is the best film slate app I have used, simple, large enough and effective. Shot lists are shared via email without proprietary accounts or formats. Too bad it doesn't work on new devices. :(

It's a good overall app, the best one I could find for Android. It worked perfectly on the Samsung Galaxy S3 (Android Version 4.1.2). One thing that I feel would improve the app, is the ability to have a count down (possibly with beep). Would recommend app.

There is no actual development for it. I downloaded it quite long time ago and there are no update since then despite improvents were claimed.

Can't put in your own notes so useless for news and doc makers.

U70%

Pretty good little app actually. Glad to see there is something comparable to all the iOS slate apps out there. It would be great though if we could custom label the roll, scene, take headers. Also scene suffixes need numbers too, not just letters.

Sound of clapper is 4 frames ahead of the visual clap.

L70%
by L####:

Works well for what it is. BUT Still needs: -Ability to enter any scene prefix, not just the pre-loaded ones. -Ability to jam sync through USB -Louder "clap" sound Even if just jam syncing was enabled, I'd give stars
