Micro Drone 3.0 for Android
Whether you are a first time drone user, or an expert pilot, Micro Drone 3.0 is for you.
Features include: 720p HD Video, Inverted Flying, Hot-Swappable battery, Magnetic Snap-On Design, Dual Control and Custom Frames.
Equipped with a camera module, it live streams video to your smartphone as well as recording to an on-board SD card. It is the first Drone that uses a smartphone for First Person View flying over a digital 2.4ghz connection.
Designed by Extreme Fliers
Nexus 5, running Marshmallow 6.0.1. App works with camera module. Controlling quad via OSD is not trivial. Using app as a FPV is more appropriate. Since there is a ~1 second lag it is better for a second person to view or to use as an auxiliary to line of sight.
Oh dear, doesn't even open, just goes straight to the "report" dialogue. Crashes without even a murmur. Not even ready for beta never mind prime time.
I would have expected the app to have been tested with the nexus/vanilla android devices as a minimum.
How can you have a product advertised for both Android and iOS and have the app not work for months. I paid alot of money for this drone and now I can't use Google cardboard for this. I wanted to use cardboard so bad
I think I FOUND THE PROBLEM with this app... I grabbed a backup copy of the APK file, extracted it, and found that there are six MP4 files and one MOV file. MOV files aren't really natively supported on Android (at least by the default video players), and I suspect that this MOV file is what they're trying to play when you launch the app, since it has a name that's different from the others. I suspect that if you repackaged the APK file without that file (or converted to MP4), we'd be in business. For now, the only option I've found is click the Ok button between 10 and 4,000,000 times and hope I'm quick enough to launch the camera viewer part of the app. When I'm able to do this, it's actually pretty cool. :-) If I don't see an update soon, I'll start looking to see if I can find a way to package it without that file and an updated manifest. Never tried, but worth a shot.
As soon as I click on the app I get this message: "Unfortunately, Microne Drone3.0 has stopped" Note 4. I just hope it's working by the time I get the drone.
On an LG G-Flex 2, it doesn't work, just a repeated "can't play this video" error message. Please fix. FYI, it does work on my older Moto G
Crashes on startup on my Nexus 6. On my Galaxy Nexus running 4.2.2 it starts and then pops an error that it can't play a video with an OK button and clicking that just pops it back up again. I installed it on my Elipssis 8 tablet running a version of 4.4 (I think) and it loads and I was able to play all the videos and launch the control interface but without my drone I can't test any further. Using an 8" tablet is far from ideal though.
Clearly unfinished. Wireless drops from the devices, causes the app to lock up. Some recorded videos crash the app when viewing. Layout is clearly written for 1 screen size and doesn't scale. Design is very Chinese (fancy images, awkward fancy buttons that do nothing). Being an app developer myself, I know of loads of very easy changes you could make to significantly improve this app, let me know if you'd like some help with it, I'd be more than happy to assist.
Seems to work ok on Samsung Tab S, but keeps crashing on the old Samsung S2 even though it was listed as being compatible. Keep saying 'Can't Play this video' during app startup and does not allow me to carry on. Both are running Android 4.1 and above. Kinda disappointing with the apps.
I was so excited about this drone, but the one thing I bought it for (fpv for the camera) won't work. Same as everyone else, I have a Note 4 and it crashes as soon as I start the app. I'll happily re-score the app once it works though!
It crashes on g4 too, saying it cannot play the video. Also whenever I have the camera on and am flying the drone the drone does not respond correctly to the manual controls, and sometimes flies out of control. It is as if one of the motors is malfunctioning, and by trouble shooting I realized it was a software issue. The motor stalls or pushes too hard, forcing the quadcopter to crash. The drone works fine without the camera plugged in and the Wi-Fi on. Other than those issues, the app works on my iPad.
Open on my LG G3, but (wont play video) keep prompt up, cannot moving forward. Hope you can solve this problem
"Can't play this video" error message. Samsung S4 mini. Update 04/01: Seriously are there any plans to fix this?
If you're looking at this app it's probably too late and you've bought a micro drone. Join the club of let down backers. App does not even open on s7, doesn't work on Xperia z2 compact
The app does work on my s4 though not immediately. It repeatedly prompts for video playback errors. If you spam it enough it goes right through and works as expected.
As soon as I open the app it brings up a pop-up "Can't play this video" with an OK button. Which reappears as soon as OK is taped. Useless. OnePlus One running marshmallow and OnePlus One running lollipop.
Great app! The Google cardboard view button doesn't actually do anything but other than that it seems to perform great! Also, perhaps pause the Learn videos while the screen is off. edit: an Indiegogo commenter has said that the app needs to be connected to the drone camera for the split view to work. can't wait to test it!
I have no space on my phone however my SD card in the phone has 16gb free. I'd like the option to save the video and images to the SD instead of built in storage.
Opening this app brings me to error pop-up message "Can't play this video". I have to kill the program because it keeps popping up this message. I'm running a Samsung Note 3. I know this is new so I will update rating when fixed. Update: doesn't work on Samsung S7 either. Now it just crashes upon startup.
Immediately crashes on my Samsung Note Edge phone but surprisingly works on my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet. On the tablet, it looks like a pretty good app....if they could just get the compatibility issues resolved, that'd be great.
We landed a man on the moon and returned him safely to earth in 1969
You wait over a year for a product, download it, and it doesn't work on an LG G4. Horrible!
Installs fine on my Samsung Note 2, but error message keeps on popping up: 'cannot play video' once you try to start it. Have to force stop the app to close it. Hope you get it fixed soon!
MD3 just arrived today. Here's a workaround to the "Can't play video" issue: Force close the app to make sure it isn't open, then when you open it, start repeatedly tapping the screen where the "Fly" button will appear (between the words "micro" and "drone" on the title screen). It might take a few tries but you'll get in. Tap as fast as you can!
Still waiting in my drone. Which I'm assuming ships next month or later this month some time. But its cool that the app is up and running. No force closing. Sweet videos to get me excited. Good work
"Can't play this video" message can be bypassed by continually hitting the OK button. Once in to the app was able to connect to camera and make the maiden flight! Still some work to do but worth sticking with.
Crash on start up. It says “Cant play this video”
Finally got my micro drone after waiting almost a year to get. Just to now try to use app and it crashes.. Wow guys. Get your stuff together you promote this over a year ago and said app works but as you can tell most of us have the issue of it crashing.
Crashes on start on a Motorola Turbo so no FPV flying for me. Works on my Galaxy Tab A, but the app is very basic and needs a better interface. Maybe they'll have it fixed by the time my drone arrives in mid 2017.
Can start app and all screen. But waiting Micro Drone 3 for try fly and FPV.
Just closes straight away. Please fix or this is just another £20 drone we have overpaid for.
The apps not start at all. Opened and crash. Not even main page. Believe Note 4 is not supported. Samsung not supported. Tablet also not supported. First launch of Android and found out a bunch of problem. Please act fast
Works on NVidia Shield tablet. Doesn't work on Samsung Galaxy S3. Constantly throws "Can't Play this video" on startup. This must be fixed.
S5 Lollipop, click on learn fly review or settings and flickers then goes back to start options with tower of London vid. Help please
The software does not even open after installation in my android samsung s3.They need to make it compatible to all androids.
No problems here.starts every time. Just need the micro drone 3.
This app is working good on my galaxy note 3, android 5.0 , just waiting the micro drone 3.0 only. But it is not working on my moto X pure edition Android 6.0, need update.
I have seen microdrone 3.0 on order and this app doesn't work on my Samsung S7 Edge.

Currently won't open at all on Galaxy Note 4, just gives a crash notification. Opens on LG G3, but 'won't play video' screen prevents moving forward. I hope this is sorted before I receive my drone
