DIY Creative Plastic Bottle

A feeder for birds

Nature enthusiasts will enjoy this recycling activity involving soda bottles. Gather together a clear 1000 ml soda bottle, a crafting knife, wooden spoons, an eye screw, a piece of string and bird feed. First, clean the transparent 1000 ml size plastic bottle and use the crafting knife to carefully cut out diagonal openings on opposite sides. The holes should measure 1/2". Put the wooden spoons into the openings; the spoons will be the perches for the birds. Pour birdseed into the bottle and put the eye screw through the bottle cap so that you can insert in a string for hanging the bird feeder.

An ocean life bottle display

An ocean life bottle display will captivate young children and let them know the beauty of both marine life as well as recycling. You'll need a 2-liter plastic bottle, water, vegetable oil, blue food coloring, silver glitter,aquarium decorations, seashells and some glue. Remove the tag from the bottle and add water in it and ensure that it is filled only up to the first half. Fill the other half with vegetable oil. Pour a bit of the blue food coloring to recreate the ocean and then sprinkle in some of the glitter. Now you may add plastic aquarium decorations like artificial plants, fish-shaped toys and shells. Make sure the bottle cap is screwed tightly by gluing it in place.

A goblet for candies

Kids who love magic-themed things will find a candy goblet recycled from a plastic bottle both functional and interesting. You will need a plastic bottle, a crafting cutter, craft glue and numerous decorations. Cut off the base of the bottle. Then put crafting glue on the top opening of the bottle and fasten it into the middle of the base to create a goblet form. You can then glue embellishments such as plastic gems on the surface to make the holder appear more fascinating. Fill in the container with sweets like gumdrops and gumballs.

An Easter basket

This recycling idea is great for Easter time. You will need a a clean, 2-liter plastic bottle, adhesive tape, a puncher, a pipe cleaner, glue and some Easter-themed accessories. First you should cut away 4" from the plastic bottle to form the base of the basket. Attach masking tape along the cut edge so that it will be smooth. Punch holes on two opposite sides of the basket with the puncher. Put a pipe cleaner through the holes to make a handle. You can then glue on various decorations that reflect the Easter holiday like stickers or recycled fancy paper cut into rabbit shapes or eggs. Now you can fill the basket with synthetic grass or decorated Easter eggs.
