About Curtain Design Styles

Bay windows are an attractive feature in any home, giving it a touch of quiet elegance that can turn any dismal space into a homey and inviting one. The idea of having a set of bay windows at home or any space for that matter, is not only to invite an abundant spill of light but to create an illusion of spaciousness. This kind of windows are usually polygonal or square in shape depending on what kind of space it is or how the room was designed. Depending upon the design plan, the extension of whichever kind is executed from the outside. It gives it an architectural beauty of its own when noticed by passersby or guests, while again creating that extra space from within.

No window is complete without a beautiful display of curtains. There are so many kinds available for one to pick and choose from, that buyers and interior decorators are spoiled for choice. From the many types of curtains available at one's disposal, the most commonly used kinds are:
Decorative Curtains (Swags)

Swags are a kind of decorative draping that fall in two shortened parallel drapes, while the center is folded gracefully across the two ends in a downward fashion. This kind of curtain design is more decorative than functional, but nonetheless a much-favored choice.
Decorative Curtains (Rosettes)

This kind of curtain detailing is more for show than anything else. It adds a little something extra to an ordinary design, where heavy and lush drapes are given subtle grandeur. You can choose an element that sets your curtains corners apart by adding flowers, or complex knot/pleat work.
Bishop Sleeve Curtains
While this may seem old-fashioned to many, it is appealing because of its classic antiqueness. The name as it suggests, is a curtain that looks like a bishop's sleeve with the top dramatically pleated and puffed, the center cinched, and the rest of the curtain flowing towards the ground.
French Pleats

This kind of curtains are designed using a tape that tugs at a cord that creates a pleat-like design which are sewn together to create a fan-like appearance when drawn. The pleats are held firmly in place using a kind of pleater hook. Heavy fabrics are used as part of this design to give it the hold it needs to showcase the pleats.
Tab Top and Grommet Curtains

Tab top curtains come with fabric loops that one can slip a rod easily through. Some of these fabric loops come with button detailing to unbutton the loops before placing them on the rods. These are simple drapes that do well for home spaces with humble or colorful interiors.
Grommet of drapes come with metallic loops that allow them to easily slide across the curtain rod. These 'eyelets' as they're called are easy to move aside as compared to the tab top curtains' fabric loops. Either kind can be a pleasant addition to any bay window set up.
Specialty Curtains (Tie Back)
Curtains with either heavily laden or light fabric can take advantage of this type of curtain design.
