About CSF - Create Shape File

CSF - Create Shape File is an application to create or edit geospatial data files (points only) in ESRI Shapefile format (.Shp) or even can be used for editing files of
dBase databases (.dbf).
CSF allows the use of GPS smartphone and facilitates the collection of data on the spot by professionals who require georeferenced data.
These files can be transferred to and from your computer and edited in popular Geographic Information Systems (GIS) as ArcView, Mapinfo or GeoDa.
Besides the ShapeFile can be converted to KML (Keyhole Markup Language) and can be viewed on Google Earth if available.

It took some effort to get this app working the way I wanted on my Droid Incredible (running Android 2.3) but it was worth it. Now I can add records to shapefiles while collecting GPS coordinates in the field. As far as I can tell, other apps with this same function cost a lot more. The app does crash on occasion, however, and using the GPS to collect coordinates on my coworker's T-Mobile G2 (running Android 2.3) results in an instant crash every time. For those of you considering using this app with ArcGIS, I find it works best if you create shapefiles in ArcCatalog with a geographic coordinate system (I used WGS 1984) and then paste them into the CSF folder on your Android smartphone. I couldn't get shapefiles to display correctly in ArcMap when I created them using the app.
