Designing your own bracelet is a great way to create something that is completely original. In order to do this of course you are going to have to get some beads. This is not that difficult to do since you can use pretty much any charm beads that you like. That being said there are a few guidelines that will make it easier.

The first thing that you are going to need to do when you are choosing the right beads for your bracelet design is to choose the charms that you will use. You are not going to want to make a whole bracelet out of charms. Instead you should pick a few that you like and make these the focus of your bracelet. Five to ten is probably the maximum number that you would want to use more than that and nobody will be able to tell what any of the charms are. The rest of the bracelet should be filled out with glass beads.

As for which charm beads you are going to use, the choice is up to you. You can choose them because you like the looks of them or you can choose them because they have special meaning to you. A lot of people will choose things like letters or numbers, in other cases they will be special symbols. There are no rules when designing a bracelet so pick the ones that you want.

The one thing you are going to want to make sure of when you are choosing the beads for your bracelet is that you get the ones that have the large holes. You can get them with small holes but you will find that trying to get them onto the wire will be very frustrating. Actually making the bracelet will go a lot smoother if you get beads with large holes in them.

Once you know which charms you are going to use the next thing you will need to do is determine just how many beads you will need for your bracelet. This is where things can get a bit problematic. You are going to have to determine the length of the bracelet and then estimate how many beads will be needed to fill it out. The bracelet will normally be about two inches longer than the diameter of your wrist. As for estimating how many beads will be needed, this will depend on the beads since they vary in size. You should be able to get a good idea of how big the beads are based on the description that will allow you to do the math. It is a good idea to get a few extras so that you don't find yourself running short on beads.

When you are getting your beads you also have to make sure that you get a toggle piece and a crimp bead. The toggle piece is the first one that goes on the bracelet and keeps the beads from sliding off the wire. The crimp piece goes on last and allows the two ends of the wire to be connected.
