About Air Balloon Design
Balloons are a flexible pouch that generally contains gases such as helium, hydrogen, nitrogen monoxide and air. Hot air balloon is a balloon that has a different air density of air with the surrounding air, Done by heated with fire so that the air will flow and the balloon will rise to the top. Air balloon in outline has three main parts namely envelope, burner, and basketball.
Envelope is a bag made of balloon-shaped nylon material where the air is heated. Because this nylon is not fireproof, the bottom of the envelope is coated with an anti-flame material (skirt). This envelope contains air / light gas (like hydrogen gas) which serves to lift the air balloon from its base.
Burner is a tool that serves to heat the air in the envelope. The burner is placed above the passenger's head close to the mouth of the envelope. This burner regulates the pressure in the air bag so that the balloon can fly at the expected height.
Basket or basket is a place where passengers control balloons or passengers who enjoy air balloon flights. Basketball is made of light and flexible material and is located under the air bag.
Air Balloon Working Principles
How the blimp works
How the air balloon works the principle is very simple that is by heating the air inside the balloon to be hotter than the air outside. Because we know that the hotter air will be lighter because the period of the type of air inside the balloon is lighter than the outside air.
How to Fly Air Balloon
As mentioned above air balloon flying by utilizing the Difference of air weight by heating it. To fly the air in the envelope in the heat with a burner with temperatures around one hundred degrees Celsius. This hot air gets trapped in the envelope. Because this hot air per unit volume makes it less lightweight so that the air balloon will move up in the thrust by the stronger pressurized air. To land, air is cooled by shrinking the burner. The cooling air in the envelope makes the balloon move down. To speed it up, the pilot will open the parachute valve so that the air inside the envelope cools faster. Since the hot air balloon can only go up and down (move vertically) we certainly think how air balloons move from one location to another (moving horizontally). The answer is only one, the pilot use the wind to move horizontally.
Because the wind is blowing different direction at any particular height. This wind-blowing difference is what pilots use to control balloons from one location to the desired location.
