Preparation
To use the RS-MS1A with a supported transceiver, you need an internal Bluetooth unit or the OPC-2350LU data cable. See your transceiver’s instruction manual for details.

Note:
- The RS-MS1A may not work with all Android devices, even if it is one of the tested devices. This is because an application program on your device may conflict with the RS-MS1A.
- You may need to install additional file managing and image processing software.
- Your Android device must be USB host function compatible to communicate with your transceiver through the OPC-2350LU cable. Even if your device is USB host function compatible, the RS-MS1A may not function properly.
- You may need to connect to the Internet through a Wireless LAN, a 3G network or an LTE network for some functions.
- The RS-MS1A supports only portrait orientation. It does not support Auto Rotate.
- Remove the data cable when the Android device is not used to reduce the devices power consumption
- The RS-MS1A program may lock up when transmitting some high-quality or large size image files, or continuously operated for a long time. In that case, restart the program.
- Depending on the Android device, the power supplied to the USB terminal may be stopped while in the display sleep mode or power saving mode. In that case, remove the “Screen timeout” check mark on the Application Setting screen of the RS-MS1A.
- When you transmit an image file with the baud rate set at 4800bps, some of that data may be lost. In that case, set the baud rate to over 9600bps.

Used this with a Galaxy S7 and it worked straight out of the box. I love this app and see how useful it will be for EmComm. Just one request! It would be ver useful to be able to send files other than pictures such as spreadsheets, text documents, and other file types. If there is a way I am missing please feel free to contact me.

There's a bit of a learning curve. If I'd payed attention up front it would have been easier. Be sure to watch icom vids on youtube.

Works fine with a Galaxy S7, once you set the Galaxy settings correctly.

Installed the latest version on my brand new Samsung S6. Pairs with my new 5100 no problem but that is as far as it will go. Numerous attempts to get technical support for this problem have failed and basically I was told that it does not appear to be compatible with the S6 'at this time'.

Keep improving this app! Previous minor issue cured with new version.

It would be a neat feature if you could add a PPT/audio option in the application itself. For example, the phone would act like the microphone and the speaker for the radio. Other than that, keep up the good work.

Connected to IC-7100 using cable supplied with rig. The app does nothing. Waste of time.

Works well on a Galaxy S4 and Dell Vue tablet - but you do need to turn on C-IV communications on your ID51Plus or similar device.

This app does not work on either my Samsung S6 Edge or my older NOTE 8.0. Do NOT waste your money on the Icon OPC-2350LU or this App if you own either, as they will NOT work. The best you can hope for is an error message, "Failed to communicate with the transceiver. Check the transceiver settings or application settings.". To the extent I am able, I have checked both the transceiver and applications settings and made changes, yet nothing. Very disappointed.

Read Dave's Advice! I just did and it worked on my cheap Samsung tablet. Dave said: This application works very well with both my One+1 and my Nexus7 tablet. There were a couple of problems when I tried to get the cable to connect but I found that by default, the ID51A and ID51APlus radios come up with the CV-I settings turned off. You will need to go into the menu and turn on the CV-I and set the echo back to 0. These instructions really needed to be included in the instructions for the cable set that goes with this APP, but were not. I really like the map selection of nearby stations, very intuitive. THANK YOU, DAVE, FOR HELPING ME OUT!!!!

Nexus 5x fully supports USB host mode. App simply states, "Failed to communicate with the transceiver. Check the transceiver or application settings" super useful, thanks icom!!!

Just picked up a Lenovo Tab 2 A7-20 at Best buy for 69 bucks and it works perfectly with my ID-51a 50th Anniversary transceiver perfectly. I just made sure to configure the radio CI-V mode properly per the manual. Everything works great. Plus this is a great tablet for the price.

If you have a Galaxy Tab 4 and a Samsung S6 you MUST get into your radio settings and turn ON the CV-I setting. After that google "RS-MS1A for Samsung" and download the app from the website you find it on. It all works great after those steps. You may be able to just change your radio setting without DL the app from a website. Have fun and good luck!

Does not work with my phones, or my tablet.. Installs on tablet but only says USB not connected. Phones it will not install at all. A friend also had trouble with a galaxy tab 4.. This should be updated more frequently. You would think for D-star as popular as it is, that they were invest more time and effort into this app. PLEASE DO NOT BUY THE RADIO/$70 CABLE until you try it with another persons cable and radio. Too much to waste if it doesnt work on your device.

Icom needs to do some work on this, it is passable as a control app, but certain things are clunky. For instance, in the Map display, the drop down menu has choices like "RX position OFF". Does that mean the RX position display IS off, or is it on now, and I should select that item to turn it off? How about using some kind of standard user interface like a check mark, or highlight, to indicate the current state of the menu items? For others that are having problems connecting their ID-51A Plus radios to smartphones using the OPC-2350LU cable, especially Samsung devices, try these RADIO settings- they agree with the default RS-MS1A application settings, and work on my Samsung Note 5: Radio MENU>Function>CI-V: CI-V Data jack: ON (Echo Back OFF); CI-V address: 86; CI-V Baud Rate: 9600bps; CI-V Transceive: ON ; Radio MENU>GPS

Works with 2218LU on my ID5100e connected to Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet & Samsung S3 Mini phone, but failed to work on ID51e with 2350LU cable connected to Samsung S3 Mini phone which was the sole purpose of buying the extra 2350LU cable, so either £54 wasted or £500 for a new phone :-( not completely happy...
