About CapMetro

The official Cap Metro App offers customer quick trip planning tools, online ticketing, real-time arrival information and other great features to make riding easy. It is the first app of its kind to offer mobile ticketing in the Austin area and one of the only in the country. Whether you’re at home, on the go or on the bus, pull up the app to access the Trip Planner tool and easily buy tickets. Not sure how to get there? With schedules and route maps offered in the Cap Metro App, you’re only a click away from your next trip.

Compatibility:
-This app requires Android 4.4 or higher. We recommend using Android 5.0 and higher to take advantage of all the app features.

App Features:
- Buy tickets for Local, Premium or Commuter services. Eligible customers can also purchase MetroAccess and Reduced Fares.
- Trip Planner feature plans a customized itinerary based on your starting and ending locations. Save favorite trips for easier planning.
- Schedules available for all routes in the system. Real-time available for MetroRapid and MetroRail services.
- Route Maps viewable by service and route number.
- Next Bus features allows you to find the next bus near your location.

If you use a Reduced Fare ID Card, you must first visit the Capital Metro Transit Store (located in downtown Austin at 209 West Lavaca, open Monday – Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm) to have a Capital Metro representative activate the reduced fare purchasing option on the app. Students looking to purchase reduced fares on the app must first complete the Reduced Fare ID Card eligibility process and then have a Transit Store representative activate the reduced fare purchasing option.

If you are a MetroAccess customer, you can register to purchase MetroAccess passes on the app by calling MetroAccess at 512-369-6067. Please have your client ID number available and email address used to register your account.

Constantly provides wrong bus times. Trip planner is a joke. Does not specify whether stop is northbound or southbound. Who memorizes all these stop numbers? This app has also taken my money without providing me with a bus ticket at all. It will show a bus comes at say, 8:15 on the trip planner. I get there 10 minutes early, 10 minutes more go by, I check the "next departure" and it will say it's coming in 6 minutes. I have lost work because of this POS app!

Did NOT fix Google sign in issue, at least for Android. Keeps crashing. Works okay on my iPad but pointless if can't get to tix on phone! With no other ticket purchasing options this app MUST work flawlessly! Get it together Cap Metro.

This app mostly works, although you do get the occasional phantom bus. I'm giving it one star because after the most recent update it won't show live tracking unless you give access to view your contacts. Totally unnecessary and sketchy practice

Most recent update has turned next departure feature into redundant garbage. Now it just shows you the scheduled times the bus is supposed to go by, and doesn't take into account Holliday schedules or traffic or anything.

For days now this app is completely inaccurate causing many frustrations. Pick up times ARE NOT RIGHT. App used to tell you how many minutes until bus, useful for delays and such. No more and none of the info is right. Total guessing game for travel. What a joke. Been waiting at the bus stop for an hour for a bus that has never arrived. 4th time in 3 days this has happened. Bus shows up 15 minutes early. 20 late. No idea of actual times anymore. Please fix!!!!

Every f'ing time I try to plan out a trip this f'ing application stops working. What's the point of an app or it doesn't work. Maybe Bytemark will get off their butts and finally do something. UPDATE: Still does the same ridiculous actions. I think it ous time that CapMetro found a new vendor for their app.

Bought day pass on app, got on bus, pass didn't work. Tried again. Still didn't work. App stole 2.50, and would have got more if i'd tried to save money buy buying a multi-day pass. That's not ok.

The app is just terrible. The costumer service is even more terrible. The app charged my credit card three times while saying that the transaction was not successful. I contacted the costumer service they imediately canceled all those tickets but funny that it has been about two weeks that I have not received my money back. I have called them 4 times and every time they are gonna have someone call me back! Terrible!

Tickets never "stay" active, requiring effort to remember to have it ready before the bus pulls up or else you're going to hold everyone up for 10+ awkward seconds. // "Next Departure" is now too complicated, requiring extra steps and showing too much information. And it still won't read my location. No other apps have location problems.

You can't plan trips, figure out routes because it wants your current location. Okay, GPS is on location settings are on, but it can't find it! So you can't search or even enter anything manually at all. But of course don't change a thing. It's just another prime example of why this egotistical socialite pretentious city sucks rotten ass!!!!!!

GPS location is on but it doesn't recognize that. Trip planner keeps error out and force close the app. These things are important use of this app so why wouldn't it work. Please fix ASAP!!! And I see I'm not the only one who haves the same issues

Ever since the last update and fare changes, Real-time info has gone up in smoke. Sometimes the app is right and other times the app is way off. I buy my tickets on the app and when I go to scan them they are invalid, the drivers justcwave and say that's fine but someone somewhere did not update the scanners

Real time tracking? No. Multiple times has the app said "bus arriving in 2 minutes/3 minutes/5 minutes" when the bus had ALREADY LEFT. Stop is a TIME POINT as well. Better luck reading tea leaves than getting accurate info from this app.

What everyone else is saying goes for me as well. Mad transit isn't some Herculean task that has never been accomplished. The folks at CapMetro should call the folks in Atlanta, D.C., or Philly and see how it's done.

Major inconveniences. When the premium fare was reduced to the local fare rate, the rapids (801/803) had no problem scanning my mobile pass. However, in the last four days, none of my passes are being scanned (keep saying invalid pass) on the rapids. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but still have the same result.

The app has all the features you need. Unfortunately, nearly all of them work about half the time. The worst is their cloud ticketing system, which is inconsistent in how long it will take to buy or just pull up an already purchased ticket, regardless of connection speed. You also have to buy the ticket 10 minutes ahead of time, or it won't register. Hoping someone is listening to the reviews.

You guys need to fix your times. I realize it's fluid, however I can count three times this month alone when the app has told me a time and the bus shows up 15 mins earlier than said time and has left before I even get there. Once the bus didn't even show at all. The app said 5 mins, 2 mins, now, then 1 minute ago... and no bus. Some of us rely on mass transit to get to work on time, and this app has burned me.

This app has been broken for months now. It will not find your locarion and crashes when trying to set up a trip. Fix the app please so I don't have to worry about timing.

This app crashed on me too many times while I was trying to plan trips. It's incredibly frustrating and buggy, to say the least. Also, using a digital ticket was not an easy task to figure out. There were too many messages about storing the ticket in the cloud and not being able to access the ticket on the device where I purchased it. Finally, as far as I can tell, there are no other options if you want to plan a trip on CapMetro and use their digital tickets. Mediocre app, at best.

The app has been gradually improving over the last 2 years. With addition of the single-ride ticket support in the latest version it has now everything I need for communiting to my office. Also, it seems like the problem when qr-code of the purchased ticket often wasn't recognized by the scanner has been somewhat addressed. Good job!

The app should ask for location permissions but since it doesn't to enable Current Location: Settings > Locations > Ensure it's on. Then: Settings > Apps > CapMetro > Permissions > Enable Location

Linked directly to my PayPal acct, just show phone to bus driver no scanning, decent enough location detection (with some help), and REAL-TIME BUS TRACKING! Has my bus come by this stop lately? Oh, I can track it on map. Sweet.

Waste of time. Was forced to use this app to buy tickets with my credit card because Capital Metro is too retarded to install credit card machines at their ticket stations and only gives cash change in debit vouchers.
