About Ice art in Geneva and Versoix
Nature’s ice art in Geneva and Versoix
These photographs were taken in Geneva and nearby Versoix on Lake Geneva in southern Switzerland, in February 2012 during one of the coldest spells for decades. The freezing temperatures not only caused chaos on the roads but also posed many motorists the problem of actually getting into their parked cars. Pedestrians also needed to be surefooted to get about. It was not only the extreme cold but also the strong, cutting “Bise” wind that created the Artic conditions that allowed Mother Nature to create such incredible ice sculptures. It’s such a shame that they are transient. The first 54 photographs were taken in Geneva, the remainder in Versoix.
