ProtonMail - Encrypted Email for Android
UPDATE feb 24: working great now. UPDATE LOCKED KEYPAD, CANT TYPE NUMBERS, (jan28, 2017). I turned phone off, then on, and it worked fine. Original review: Opened without needing a password or a pin. Also, previous version now, but 3 wrong guesses of the password locks u out with NO WAY TO GET BACK INTO YOUR ACCOUNT except a computer. Thanks. Fix it (bypassing the password and pin) please. Thanks. Cant wait for it to be secure. LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS APP.
I think it's great! Some complain about "only" 500Mb, I think it's okay for a FREE email service! I using hushmail that not have an app for the free version and also less Mb. I like ProtonMail and will slowly use my email on this and get rid of the crap Gmail and Hotmail.
O.P., from the wait-in-line, pay to beta days. Love the service, but after the update today, I get a "No connection detected..." error. Wi-Fi or wireless, same thing. Restarted, uninstalled, reinstalled, no dice. Feeling like a bug.
What happened? Fails to send email (connectivity issues specific to app) and doesn't save drafts properly. Was fine until recently. Will return to five stars once fixed.
Love what you guys are doing. Simplicity of use is a necessity to swing the population to use secure email services. The app is sleek and well designed and I haven't faced any issues so far.
AMOLED unfriendly - should have an option to switch theming into black so AMOLED would save some battery. Also the text reflow should work more accurately while zooming letters content.
Contact information is very limited (only name and 1 email), but I've heard of plans to improve it. Hopefully that is soon. Also you get only 500 MB of space, whereas another secure email service offers 1 GB to start. Everything else is good and improving.
Nice app. But its sad that its not possible to export my own pvt keys and that I cant import others pub. keys :(
UPDATE: ProtonMail team promptly resolved issue. App crashes in launch after recent update. Excellent and reliable encrypted mail with good mobile compatibility.
So been using this for several months now and love the service and adore the app. The app has the the amenities you expect from a modern day email app. Then add to the fact it is privacy oriented? That is amazing!
Really nice app and service. I think the small inconvenience comes from the fact that this is a full privacy service. So the company as less options for added value features like Google offering.
Sure then, don't let me login to access my business email until I update the app. No worries, it's not like I needed to access my important emails. Oh, the new version has minor improvements? That's fantastic because I just used the last of my data updating it in my car so now I can't get into my mailbox anyways.
I love this great 2fa email app. A secure way to have a safe email as well as no junkmail or ads. These developers really prioritize privacy. Great job 5/5
Text zoom with reflow is sorely needed. For now text is too small to read and that includes messages coming directly from ProtonMail team ;-) Dark theme is a must too. greetings from lifetime supporter
It's amazing, highly secure, great design and UI, easy to use. No ads, my favorite and most used email service. Recommended any day!
A decent interface, but missing a few key features. For example, conversations are grouped in the web interface, but not in the app. Also, there's no option to auto download messages on WiFi only.
Phenomenal Security, Extremely Safe With Complete Ease Of Use And Peace Of Mind. This From Some Of The Greatest Minds From CERN.!!! *Nothing Short Of "BRILLIANT"!!!
Love what it is right now, all you guys need is support for multiple accounts (each with own pin if possible.)
No longer need to be at the mercy of personal information hogs for email service. Edit: Taking a star away as the app does not group messages in a conversation.
In general a good app, it would be very welcome if you implement the Tor hidden service server as an option for the app.
ProtonMail is so much better than Google's Gmail. It is definitely worth it! I also love the UI, really good design!
Great, but lacking 2FA (so I usually don't use it much). They say it's coming, but when?
Highly secure & perfect encryption. Provides great UI & other features. Great!
I installed it and registered as a user then closed the app. It is not reopening. You just see the first screen.
Awesome app and awesome email service. I've had my email address with Protonmail for quite some time now (over a year, maybe a year and a half) and love it. Highly recommend making an account.
I would give it 5 stars if it had a config option to make it use orbot. Is that in the works?
The only encrypted e-mail that NSA and other crooks cannot break into.
Great app, I've used pgp for years, with this app I could finaly get my friends to do the same. Seamless user expérience.
Protonmail is very good and I don't miss social sign-in. I'd fully move from my current email platform if you offer calendar and note services.
Trying to disable notifications. App keeps reverting to vibrate and sound. Annoying...
After forced update locked me out of account, password stopped working.. b.s app
Please, add ability to upload and use my own pgp keys.
Love the privacy, don't love how when attachments are sent to me, I can't open them. Any ideas?
Tired for a while, it's doing as told
Great app with customizable notifications unlike Gmail. Like how this app has a great user interface without ads. Great work, guys!
Quick, clean. Favorite feature - No Ads or crazy internet news to distract you from getting work done.
The best secure and private email app in the Google Play Store. Clean and simple, easy to use!
Great app built on an even greater backend system. All the features of an email client with security features that are available on demand.
Simply the best for privacy and ease of use.

Great app and service. Been using the mobile app since it started as a beta. It's very stable and has nearly all the features I need. The one thing that sucks is that it's sometimes hard to see HTML emails. The app doesn't always scale the content to fit my screen, so I often have to pinch-zoom and then scroll left and right to read the lines. I suspect that has a lot to do with the styling that people are putting in the email, but even so, I don't experience this on mobile Gmail. That's proof that it can be worked around. Please fix! :)
