Automagic * Automation

I wanted to create a simple script which would set my phone's screen lock to use a PIN when I was at home and a password when I was elsewhere. Having previously tried Tasker and Automate; both of which seemed only to offer the option to enable/disable screen locking entirely, I didn't hold out much hope for this lesser known alternative. But the reviews were encouraging and I thought I'd give it a go. 15 mins later and *Hooray!* I now have a phone which uses a simple PIN no. at home (I still want some privacy!) and automatically switches to a stronger password when I'm away from home. UPDATE: I reinstalled the Qpython plugin and Automagic picked it up the second time. So all good now and another star added.

Have been using Tasker app for about 5 years, but in buying a new phone my plugins were not working and new ones charge separately for each feature you activate. This had good reviews and cost less than upgrading my plugins (as this doesnt need them for all I wanted to do). I found it to be a much slicker interface and I can set things up quicker and I have get to run I to any issues where it isn't flexible enough. So far out of the box it does a lot more and I've got much more automation configured in no time. I love this app. A must have for Android.

This app is capable of so much already and is regularly expanded to keep up with platform developments. The UI is great to use with the diagramming components making a huge difference in helping to manage complexity and for debugging workflows. It is also very reliable... just keeps doing its thing day in, day out. A professional and thoughtful piece of work. Thank you.

Powerful, stable, fun and EASY to visually develop tools for automation. Swiss army knife of utilities. Better and easier than Automate and Tasker. Good support. I am not a developer, but I am able to: 1) Set phone to vibrate and auto text reply when I am busy in meetings. 2) Turn on bluetooth when I am driving, and turn it off when I am not. 3) Adjust automatically the sound volume depending on surrounding noise level.

This is probably the first time I have dropped a rating from 5 to 1 stars. But when such a seemingly basic task like enumerating the battery remaining goes unresolved for well over a year, it doesn't inspire any confidence for the user to devote the time and effort to master the app's abilities. It also leaves me wondering what else is broken and will never get fixed. I thought I had finally found my Tasker replacement, but I guess I'll need to stick it out a bit longer.

In a word. Excellent. Far better than apps like Tasker, so much easier. I spent hours with tasker trying to write a script and did it with Automatic within 15 minutes. You don't need to be a coder or have massive amounts of technical knowledge to use this app.

This blows all other automation out of the water with a questionably small footprint. It runs quicker and less error prone for identical tasks than other software I've tried (macrodroid, tasker, automate). You may feel indebted even after buying. I recommend trying the 10-day evaluation copy available on the website. Hats off.

Automagic is the most user-friendly and powerful app of its kind. Although Although I'm a MacroDroid fan, having an easy-to-follow graphical flow chart display/editor puts this app above it hands down. Creating new flows is so quick and easy. I find it hard to believe it's not been downloaded more than 10,000 times. I think it's only a matter of time before it takes off like a rocket.

I've tried the vast majority or automation apps and this is my personal favorite. Easy to use, stable and has just about any option I can think of. Tried the trial on the website and bought the next day. Keep up the great work dev!

Excellent!!! Superb!!! Brilliant!!! Super flexible, very intuitive app for automation many daily tasks. This is probably the best of all of them (Tasker, Automate etc). Great and prompt support from developer which keen to assist with automation issues and questions. I highly recommend it. This is obligatory application on my smartphone.

This app allowed me to sync a cloned and modified version of colornote across devices without relying on the syncing fonctionality of that app, leaking by the same process very personal data on remote server and submiting it to analytics. (Colornote leaks your notes).

Took a minute to wrap my head around And and Or "conditions" but once you get it, it's mostly intuitive. I really like that a flow incorporates if/then/else. Other apps like Tasker or Llama only do if/then and require numerous profiles/tasks/events.

Let me know when I can make an apk like with Tasker's App Factory. I'm just disapointed otherwise... I'll even pay for apk module. I'll give 5 stars when i can export as apk.

I was reluctant to try another automation app, but this one is very stable and easy to use. I've got all the functionality I want and there's lots more under the hood. Flows can be compared to a program, only constructed with a series of triggers, conditions and actions which form the flowchart. A flow will wait for one or more triggers before starting. This could be a simple shortcut you create, a time or change in location for example. Once this trigger is activated an optional condition is checked. Then an action is run. Simple and very powerful.

Easy to set things up as its flowchart based. Also, setting the trigger condition and actions are very easy.

Takes some learning to understand the usage, but after that very powerful. Developer active and helpful. 5/5

Some automation apps are too complicated, others are too simple and featureless. This app is perfection. How does it only have 10,000 downloads?!?!

Everything seemed fine in 6.01 but nothing seems to work as expected any longer. The developer is working with me to try and resolve. Thanks!

After trying all the more popular automation apps I have realised that this one is superior to them all. Things are more intuitive or user friendly.

I LOVE this app! It performs extremely well and allows me to make my phone truly my own, I can safely say this is one app I couldn't live without.

It's difficult to find the appropriate condition and action. The lists of these could be easier to use.

I've tried them all! The first one to work, and actually use it's root rights. Easier but just as powerful as Automate! +everything works! Starts perfectly with bootup!! Thanks

Easier than tasker, works with all Android versions. Dare I say it's better than Llama (r.i.p.)? It is.

As a industrial controls programmer I'm used to and love ❤ the Visual layout almost like a ladder diagram and it's vs efficient

If you're a visual learner then this app will be the perfect fit for you.

I was a Tasker user for years until AutoMate came up in the news as revolutionary with its flow charts. After some research I also found Automagic and of those three, it's the best solution for me. Modern interface compared to Tasker, lots of integrated features where you needed a Tasker-plugin before and much easier for complex tasks than AutoMate.

I was surprised of how intuitive this app is. After installing this app and without much knowledge I was able to create a flow that allowed me to open my calendar follow by tasks with conditions to activate from 6 am to 8am, when turning the screen on for the first time. That meant that if I turn the screen off and then on again it wouldn't trigger till the next day. With No much knowledge. Now that's impressive. Update: WONDERING if this app allows to set scenes like tasker. Basically a pop up notification that is interactive.

If I could give one app 6 stars this would be it. The graphical interface makes it fairly easy to learn the basics. However, once you work with it for a while you realize just how powerful this tool really is. I couldn't imagine my phone without it!

Automagic is without doubt the best of all the automation apps (I tried most), so many triggers, actions and the amazing flow diagrams for routines. The recent update allowing custom widgets to be draggable allows awesome possibilities, I made my own mini keyboard for programming. I designed a single small widget which allows complete control of my device, WiFi, Bluetooth, media player, mini launcher all in one. The developer is helpful and listens to users.

I also have tasker. And not using both because I don't know what to automate in everyday use. But in my testings I find automagic simply amazing! Maybe I am either too busy or perhaps plain lazy to put this app to better use.

So far so good. Just finished recreating my Llama events as Automagic flows, tested some and they work beautifully.

Indeed such a simple function as turning on a Android device's LED flashlight was impossible without an appropriate app. So when I saw applications with filesize more than 1 MB to do such a simple function, I thought there should be an app that can create such simple widgets on its own. There is, and Automagic is undoubtedly the best one of them. Using a flowchart to set up your triggers/events, conditions and actions instead of lists makes it easy to use even for users that aren't programmers. Automagic allows you to easily control almost any aspect of your phone and even more if you have rooted your phone. If something is missing you contact the developers and explain for what it is necessary. The only downside currently is community managed flows as the app's developers focus too much on adding functionality. Right now a forum is used to share your flows, which is a hassle. If it weren't a hassle then more of the 10'000+ users that have installed this app would be sharing their creations. Automagic is a killer app, as it disallows me from leaving the Android platform.

This is a great and powerful app. There are enough trigger and condition elements to cover almost every need, and very few needs special permissions (compared to other automation apps I've tried). There is also an effective, editable (with script programming) element to simulate user interaction without needing to know much of the inner workings of Android. The editor is very effective/productive and easy to use. The use of flow chart icons to represent the elements/tasks makes it easy to visualize and follow the automation you create. The author also has enough documentation/FAQs and examples (via through the app and on his website) to make it easy to understand and figure how to use Automagic and its elements. Definitely worth the purchase price.

EDIT Dec 2016. Been using it for >1 year now, I'd like to change my rating. 10 stars :-) Nov 2015: I am a LONG-time user of Llama. Sadly, that hasn't been updated for quite a while, so I looked for alternatives. Tried Automate (from Llamalabs - thought it might be similar to Llama). It was OK, but (to me) not intuitive. Tasker - super-powerful, but a steep learning curve. So I tried the free trial of Automagic. Within a half hour, I'd bought the premium version. And after spending a few hours with it, I have: (i) duplicated everything I could do with Llama and (ii) added on functions that Llama couldn't do on its own (and for which I had to involve other apps). It's powerful, intuitive, and the developer (Martin) updates it regularly and is actively involved in the forum. It's not the most-used app on my phone (that honor goes to Calengoo, which helps me organize my life) but I'd say that Automagic is the best (and most enjoyable) app that I have!! It is simply fantastic !!

Great app and although there is a learning curve it does not take long to create useful programs. My phone silences and unsilences itself automatically at church and when meeting with clients. My phone sends text messages automatically to my carpooler as I approach the meeting location. My phone automatically turns off the WiFi radio while I am driving and turns it back on when I get out of the car. I walk into Costco and my phone sends a text message to my wife asking if there is anything I need to get. Overall a very useful app.

I've been using Automagic for several years now and although I regularly check out similar Apps (including paying stuff à la Tasker), nothing ever beats Automagic. Congratulations Martin!!!
