My Consumer Cellular for Android
actually four and one half stars. service excellent, customer service ok via phone, good via email. the app does have some probs but each version improves, mostly works ok for me. have NEVER had phone service so good before. been CC customer almost five years now, will continue. dont understand high costs other reviewers, mine is only $40-50/month, very good phone amts, excellent text amts, enough data since i mostly use wifi and i always recheck phone settings to ensure not accessing via 4G whenever wifi avail, keeps cost down.
This app worked fine until today, I used auto log-on all of the time and now that tells me my ID and password combo are wrong. I put it in by hand and get the same message. I can log in on my computer but not in the app anymore, such a bummer!!!!
I still see the email link still doesn't work. All it indicates is a message at the top of the screen saying "Send mail..." Why have a non-functional link if it never functions?
It takes 4-5 taps to close the app. Plus you can't send an email to Consumer Cellular via the app. The app also has recently started logging you out every if you have auto login selected! I expect a better app from this fine company. Please fix!
Data limit stinks. Want phone unlocked so I can go where I get unlimited data and free streaming
Keep having problems logging in to my account. I can get in on the internet just fine. This has happened numerous times... getting tired of it...
Only issue is the sim card does not work in Canada. My new Moto G 4 is having a missed call message issue but it may be due to another application .I can't connect to voice mail
Love the way I can choose what I want to see and change my uses within moments. The best phone service has the app!!
Was working great until recent update. Now it will not let me log in at all on app. No problem on web site. Come on techs, fix this!
I truly enjoy the freedom I get from Consumer Cellular, just watch what Sim card you get. In Los Angeles we can choose from Tmobile ,or AT&T. In my particular neighborhood in, Tmobile works best. For others it might be AT&T. I've had no problem with bills or service. Very happy.
The app doesn't allow me to log out, so it runs constantly in the background. This unnecessarily uses data time that helps put me close to my limit each month.
Won't let me log in. After 2 successful log ins, now I can't access app at all.
Once again, the auto log-in isn't working. Great cell service but very inconsistent app.
Please fix app's ability to login. Used to work just fine. Now it doesn't, so app is now worthless. Please fix!
Trying to open the app and won't let me can't remember my password
Refuses to accept login credentials.
I do not use AARP! I would like the choice to use Amac. The Association of Mature American Citizens please. Thank you.
Consumer Cellular says there is suppose to be a update here I DON'T SEE ONE
Love that you can add mins, data, etc.or remove whenever you want. Prices are good as well as the service.
I need my wife and I will... think
Will not work
Can't login with app with same credentials as website.
Welcome to my world.
From what I have seen and used,, it does what it needs to do.
Very convenient. Thanks
Works fine for us
Excellent rates.
The network sucks, the max data is 4gb, or so I'm told. I cant send or receive picture messages a lot of the time, once and a while they work but usually not. The bill we have is 99.98 a month which doesn't sound that bad compared to Verizon and U.S. cellular, until you actually realize how much your getting screwed. Don't go with consumer cellular it's garbage honestly.
Time to switch!! The Data sucks, 103 dollars a month which tells me you can barely touch your phone. I have no downloads and you can't go into the search engine because you get a text that says you are at or over your data usage.
Data usage is 53% and should be 0 percent. I'm using my nursing home's Wi-Fi network and not your data Network. What gives here? Customer service is pretty sparse and tough to get through to without a lot of Hoops to jump through and long wait times. Not very happy so far in my first month. The web site and app are setup for laptop not a cell phone.
Was told I would be getting a discount on ONE of my bills because I can't use picture mail on my Motorola smart phone. 3 supervisor calls later and about 5+ hours on the phone with customer service I find out that's a big fat lie and I get JACK because I have internet access so it's not their problem that I pay for picture mail and can't use it, so I have to pay $600+ for a decent phone out of pocket to use picture mail. Bite the big one Consumer Cellular!!!
Almost two years with CC, but I think I'm switching carriers. I dislike paying $70 a month and not getting enough data.. Other carriers offer unlimited with lower fees. Especially if you go over, they restrict you and yet charge you more... I was happy in the beginning, but it just gets old. I do love paying my bill on the app.
Why when I was trying to save on data usage and using WiFi, did my bill always acquire over 5G. I'll tell you why, because all of all pre installed apps I didn't even use... would turn the data network back on and or would run in the back ground. I'm sure tired of being taken advantage of by all phone services I have used. Haven't found one yet that's honest. T-Mobile, straight talk, cricket, At n t, net ten, and CC.. I buy the expensive smartphones, that ends up being the obsoletes. I have cancelled serv
If you need a live person, pull up a chair and bring a good book... cause waiting times "are" that long... BTW, there's an automatic daily update... at your expense. Uses your data (Not theirs).
Great app, works as it should. Simple and to the point, tells you exactly what you need to know. Your usage in graph form, as well as percentage and actual count readings. I haven't tried to change my plan using the app only because I haven't needed to, but that option is there too. I also think Consumers Cellular offers great service. I can only figure those posting negative comments about the company and complaints about their data usage don't know how to set up their phone for Wi-Fi as primary for data.
Re: the complaints about data: CC makes it very clear that if you plan to stream videos/music then use wifi to save data. So, if you want to stream but don't have wifi access, then this isn't the provider for you. I currently have 4 lines and the 3GB data plan. We all have wifi and make sure our phone is logged into wifi whenever possible. Data is for GPS app use& any urgent need when away from wifi. We've done this for 1yr and have only had 1 bill >$100.
After filling in phone number, password, and selecting "auto login", it will usually connect that time, but after that, it will maybe " auto login" 10% of the time. I had avoided the last update for quite a while because of others complaining about the same problem. Had to get a new phone for other reasons and it came pre-installed with the latest update.
My login issues have never gone smooth since the big update in June. The "make a payment" button gets cut off at the bottom of my screen and the "email customer service" link does not work. Wrong balance & due date keeps happening at each monthly change.
I'm not sure why there are so many people that hate Consumer cellular. We have been with them for over 3 years and have been extremely happy. I guess I'm confused if you are unhappy go somewhere else. That is the beauty of their service is that you are not contractually obligated... So if you are unhappy leave. As far as I know this venue is the only place where people tend to be so harsh regarding their service. If you are thinking of trying the service try it if you don't like it go somewhere else. I have been with Verizon and AT&T and compared to their creative billing and spotty service I'll take Consumer Cellular everytime. They are at the very least are very transparent in their billing.

Data hog. No complaints about the service. Switching from ATT cut my monthly cost in half. In my first month with CC I exceed my data plan. When I checked data usage in the settings menu this app was the biggest user. Totally unnecessary since usage data is available in settings. Now I force stop after each use and data drain is minimal. Considering uninstalling.
