About The Reckoner
The Reckoner is the award-winning student newspaper of Marc Garneau Collegiate Institute, based in Toronto, Canada. During the school year, The Reckoner publishes regularly on its website and produces a monthly printed newspaper which is distributed to the school community. This app delivers real-time access to the site’s contents in a sleek, user-friendly design, with intuitive controls for navigation.
This app allows access to all of the newspaper’s boards, which include:
Editorial: Sharp, critical articles that challenge controversial and other interesting ideas on both school-related and international events.
News: Quick, up-to-date information on what’s up around the school community and world events, featuring articles such as teacher interviews and special school events.
Life: Thought-provoking and emotionally impacting pieces, including astounding artwork, poetry, and creative writing.
But there’s more! Take a peek at our advice column “Ask the Reckoner” for some quirky fun and helpful tips, or Humans of Garneau for an inside look on our unique community.
The organization is comprised entirely of dedicated student volunteers: some of the best writers, artists, photographers, designers, and developers of the school. In 2016, the paper received 11 awards and was named Onatrio's Best High School Volunteer Newspaper as well as Ontario's Best High School Electronic Newspaper by the Toronto Star.
