Resistor Scanner for Android
Have to zoom all the way out for the little line and hold it so far away and it still jumps and gets random readings. Why not take a picture then let me draw the line over the whole resistor?
Awful and inaccurate, same resistor with over a dozen different results. Completely useless.
Very twitchy and changes the result depending on where on the resistor you focus the red line making it very inaccurate
Great idea, far easier to dig out multimeter or colour chart, as this just about works if you are able to stay rigid and focused, (I was using blue resistors)
Clearer image but wrong resistance and I didn't know that my bedsheet has 67mohms
The idea is good, but the app simply doesn't deliver. Couldn't identify a single resistor
Pointed it at a 220 ohm resistor and it said 60 mega ohms, perhaps because the resistor in question was blue?
Not accurate
I have colour blindness and also poor eyesight so think an app like this is a great idea. Sadly it didn't work for me. It was pretty good at identifying resistors but the numbers it produced fluctuated greatly. I only tried it on an old and cheap Android tablet that was lying around so maybe it would do better on a better device.
Unless I'm dead it's really hard to get it to scan even when I did. After some time. It came up with the wrong value. There is camera latency issues. This could be one of the issues other people are getting also. The red line is a little small. Maybe in the future I will again
Great idea, the execution is not very good. I have a REALLY hard time getting it to focus and my hands shake a little and thus, it makes this useless. Also, doesn't seem to do well with blue resistors :(
The readings where too inconsistent for me to Rely on this app. Please keep trying. I see alot of people in here that are color blind. I wanted this app because I wear glasses and still cant make out the tiny bands on the resistors.
The concept is great. As others have said, would be happy to pay for this sort of app if it worked. Sadly, at least with the version I've used, it struggles to correctly identify the colours of the bands (with blue background) so gives incorrect values. So three stars for effort, and hopefully can come up with a way of dealing with different colour resistors that are obviously throwing out the algorithm (which I suspect is assuming yellow as per the demo video). Maybe even a simple tick box to choose the colour of the resistor...... FYI didn't have issues with focus etc with my mobile, but it's a Sony Xperia so has a pretty decent camera.
Consistently wrong reading, even with focused picture. I suggest to white balanced without use of flashlight (it caused reflection on resistor's glossy body). Also first do a resistor's body color detection (the background color where the bands are) before evaluating the bands's colors. Alternatively, it would be better to add a Manual mode to take a picture first, then manually pick each band (by touching the photo) to precise points where the color of the 5 bands are.
It's nearly impossible to get the scanner to focus. Then when it does it won't actually scan the color code. Useless app. This is a really great idea and would be wonderful if it worked.
It works very bad, won't recognize many, even when focused. And when it does, the values vary a lot, so you have to check them manually in order to be right. Also, a focus slider instead of relaying on the much imprecise autofocus, would be great
The camera feed is upside down on my phone (Nexus 5X) for some reason, making it all but impossible to aim correctly.
Great concept, poor delivery. Does not focus properly, software does not take in consideration of distance and light source, cannot use, please revise and lets try again.
I can't get it to work, I line up the colors with the indicator. But nothing is happening.
Can not make clear focus on resistor
Didn't really work
Kind-of works. It would be better to decode the value from a static image.
Sometimes has errors
Doesnt work
Not accurate

I'm colorblind so this kind of app is essential for me. It works but could use some improvement. It would be better if it worked like QR readers that freeze once they detect the QR. This just just has live video and only displays the resistance when you are perfectly lined up, making it very finicky.
The app never focuses, it stays blurry at any distance on a Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
It turns the camera flash light on, but that's it. The display window is black. Phone is a Samsung Galaxy S3 (AT&T), model SGH-I747. Android version 4.4.2.
Does not work on redmi note 4g.. App gets stuck 2 seconds after opening the app..
Crap, the camera focus is set to infinity.
Needs ability to turn off flash. My light is too bright.
As a developer i thought About it and found this APP. It has a great functionality, but needs some improvements.
Good idea but not quite there
Tried it on a 100R and 10k both were read as 64M. Oh well.
Sometimes has errors
Wrong calculate.
Love it. It works great.
Cool app , mate
