CTV GO for Android
It now decided to give me an error Everytime I try to watch a show. Says I'm not connected to a wireless network, meanwhile , I am, that's how the app is able to find me the shows in the first place! And all my other streaming aps like global go and city TV work just fine. And they all share the same ap setting. Guess I'll reinstall.. but if it doesn't work after that, it's gone for good.
This ctv site has a people friendly system and the best varied programmes available. The advertising is repetitive, not irritatingly so, and yet not so complex that it stalls the mobile unit as other sites tend to. Because of not being able to stay up late to watch my favorites it works really well that I can stay up to date by watching the next day or two on ctvgo. Thank you for not locking the programs.
When the tablet is in landscape orientation, the CTV Go APP insists on showing the main selection screen in Portrait mode ... only then to show the streaming in Landscape mode. So, the user has to keep re-orienting the screen from landscape to portrait to landscape in order to use this app. FRUSTRATING!!!!! THE MAIN SCREEN should recognize if the user is in landscape orientation and show everything in landscape mode.
This app is OK to use when you need to catch up on a missed show or episode but is terrible for extended use. It doesn't remember where you let off in a show and if you ffwd you have to watch all the commercials you skipped. Sometimes the commercials are louder then the show you are watching which is really annoying and damaging to you ears if you use a headset. Constantly having to login gets annoying, why it won't remember my credential is beyond me. Like I said it's OK when you just need short use.
I pay for tv and have a VALID subscription, yet the App will not recognise my subscripotion to Bell Aliant. WOn't let me login and therefore watch live tv. SOmetimes it actually does log in (with no apparant reason why it works) but then logs me back out at random. Then goes back through the cycle of not recognising my subscription. This is a new problem since about August! Needs to be fixed. App is totally BROKEN as it is now
The reason I got rid of cable was because I only watch 2 or three shows. I'm tired of the big networks punishing me for their crappy content by limiting my access to what I want to watch. Maybe take a page (pun intended) from the news papers and allow a number of permits per week or month for big events like the Award shows, or Superbowl.
this app has the most new tv series in canada available to everyone. and older episodes available with a tv subscription. previously aired streams & live chromecasts work great. no commercials when chromecasting. if you stop a show it doesn't save your progress when casting so you have to restart and scrub through and find the spot you were at. Pausing doesn't work.
The good: There are fewer and shorter ads than accessing city tv with a laptop browser. The bad: there are still plenty of very repetitive ads. Search functions are limited. The ugly: The app doesn't remember where I left off in a show when I have to interrupt the viewing. For crying out loud!
Freezes on ads. Also when you try to go back to continue watching, it starts from the beginning and you have to wait for the ads to run before you can reset the play position, and then the ads start all over again. Wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't the same two ads playing over and over, although still frustrating.
Bell media (and other old guard crtc lobbyists) think it's a good idea to lock up lame channels like CTV so that you are forced to subscribe to their TV service even when they bombard you with adds. For some reason, this app requires a subscription for live TV, even if I have it over the air.
Blocks you from watching after one show. Gives an error msg saying can only view 4 concurrent shows st a time! But I've only watched one? Love that I can use it with chrome cast. Great app. Yes. You do have to log in each time. But if you remember your password and username you're golden. Doesn't work if you're using a VPN, So if you're having freezing issues just turn vpn off before using and update your ip. Not all shows have commercials so stop complaining, this is a free app that works!
Not connected to a wireless network yet I am using my data? Attempted to go into my phone settings to see if I can correct any problems (app preferences) and have found nothing. Very annoying issue. Other than that, the app is great.
At times it cuts out on me, especially in an episode. Have trouble getting it back to wear it cut out....repeated restarts. Last season didn't have that problem as often. Don't know what they did between spring and fall, but it's definitely way more frequent.
I can get into most shows, except the one I actually want. Then it asks me to sign in, but doesn't list my cable company. But gives a cheerful little message that someday they will. That is not helpful.
Why is it that I cannot watch an entire episode of anything. It shows to the second set of commercials and then stops and goes back to the home screen, again and this is with every show. I have:this app on my Samsung tablet 3 and it works fine but the Samsung S3 it won't. They are from the same generation....what's the problem?
The app on my phone works fine but it I wish it would connect to chromecast. The icon appears and the ctv logo appears on the tv screen but it won't play the show, it just crashes or goes back to the home screen. I emailed customer service and never got a response.
I can't judge by the content of the network, that wouldn't be fair. This app hasnt crash on me, it's easy to browse and search for shows. Shows you the latest episode for free and above all, it has chromecast support! It's everything you want from this type of apps
It never connects and always has errors. The app freezes during every show. If it stops watching half way and go to open it up, it makes me go back to the start. I uninstalled and reinstalled it and now it won't even load.
I keep getting error loading content messages when I try to cast. Haven't had issues with any other app. I've tried multiple devices and multiple content options from ctv. Not good. It won't load anything.
Switched from cogeco to Bell so I thought I'd finally be able to use this app. But when I try to login using my Bell account the screen just stays white and refuses to login. So once again this app is useless.
You can find some really good antennas on the market.So you DON'T need cable. BUT to stream TV you need a cable provider and account
I used to have a lot more problems with this app, but it seems like they're working on them. The biggest problem I had was if I used chromecast shows would cut off early, but that doesn't happen anymore. I gave it 4 starts instead of 5 because while I understand that the app is free and they need to make money somewhere, the ads are too often, repetitive, and annoying. I'm optimistic that the app will keep improving :)
Suddenly unable to stream live TV. App says there is an issue with my Shaw account, but I haven't changed anything with Shaw. I was able to watch live TV last week, but it suddenly stopped working. Updated to the newest version of the app today and still not working.
Can't keep track of what I have watched and will kick me out of show in the middle but will only start again from the beginning. That is annoying. No problems whatsoever with Global app.
Can browse content but try to watch anything and get a not connected to wifi message. How did I choose a show to watch in the first place? By using wifi. Looks good, but doesn't work. Installed, uninstalled, reinstalled still not working. Fail.
People can get ctv for free and I have to put in my cable provider in order to access your content?? I can watch online for free so why is this necessary? My cable provider isn't even listed to I'm SOL I guess.
App runs slow, most of the time you can never sign in on mobile. It only seems to work on the website on a computer. Looks like someone used a half ass web wrapper to make this app "mobile" capable.
After the update it no longer let's me watch shows from my galaxy s6 edge. Keeps telling me I'm not longer connected to a wireless network when clearly I am. Very frustrating.
Super glitchy. Chromecast function is useless. Always cuts out and shuts down in the middle of an episode. But it will make sure you watch the advertisements before it's shuts down sooooooo that's really nice of them. ***** Update***** functionality has improved immensely. Adds are minimal. Thanks for fixing this app.
**Edit** For some reason, it's now having a tough time establishing a connection, will just spin on the loading screen. When it does connect, one of the few shows I watch on it, The Daily Show, hasn't been updated since late February. Great way to catch up on the latest episode you may have missed. Only negative is that it sometimes refuses to connect my Chromecast, and I have to restart my phone. Other than that, it's been great.
I like using this app. However, if you have it set to use wireless network only it will not play, which took me a while to figure out. And there are way too many repetitive commercials.
The app used to work very well but recently all CTV videos crash my Chromecast. Casting from the Chrome browser on my PC and other streaming apps on Android work without issue.
There is a startup problem with this app. Sometimes it says it connot play content because I have lost wireless connection. I fix the problem by temporarily turning off my wifi connection and letting LTE connect, then it allows playing content which is when I turn my wifi connection back on. Once it starts playing the problem doesnt occur until I turn the app off and on again. Also the three same commercials every few minutes get excessively annoying. But otherwise this app is very user friendly and responsive. Thank you.
It allows me to keep up with stuff I missed without much hassle. There are sometimes a few technical issues but it accomplishes it's purpose.
Does not work in landscape mode. Too many commercials. Can't skip commercials. Sometimes you end up getting 6 commercials. It is very annoying. Would recommend 15 minutes videoplay per 2 commercials
It keeps saying my preference is to watch videos through wifi and that I am not connected to a wireless wifi. Yet I am connected with strong signal. Terrible app
Giving it 4 stores because it seems when I go to sign on i first get a not working message and then it works fine when I try again. Using Samsung Note 3
Crappy app. Designed to force the viewer to see advertising and this creates a bug. That affects terrible the streaming and for what? See the same advertising over and over... remove this or fixed. Terrible job you are doing. Epicfail.
Google Cast within the app doesn't work anymore -- have to cast my screen. Ads are much louder than the show. Still, nice to watch shows as we don't have cable, etc...

Used to love the app, but now whenever I click on any show to watch, it states I am not connected to a wireless network and have to change it in my settings. The settings are fine, and I am indeed connected to a wireless network whenever accessing the app. Also deleted and installed the app numerous times, but it still doesn't work. Extremely disappointed in CTV GO considering it was one of my favourite apps, and now I can't watch shows on the go. :(
