About OpenBelarus
Open Minsk is the first travel guide of the new ambitious project Open Belarus which aims to transform into a comprehensive Belarus travel guide in the future.
In May 2014, the Belarusian capital city of Minsk opens its doors to thousands of ice hockey fans arriving to Ice Hockey World Championship. If you are one of them, we hope that you will find our tips useful. We also believe that the stories posted here will be instrumental for travelers visiting Belarus at any time after the world championship.
Belarus is not a top tourist destination. It means that most tourists arriving in Belarus are active people, willing to know more about the world around. This guide is for those who don’t expect everything to be planned for them by a tour operator – be it a foreign tourist, a nostalgic émigré, a student, a businessman, a journalist, or just an adventure-seeker.

Open Belarus is different from other guides because it offers locals' views and perspective. It's quite handy to know where the cheapest eateries in Minsk are or how Minsk can be kids-friendly. Highly recommended!
