BusyBox Installer (No Root) for Android
This app has been so useful for me in the past. I messaged the developer on Facebook to thank him. He responded and asked if there was anything I could think of for him to improve. Stand up guy.
Interrupt ads over other apps are unacceptable. Who are you to say that your app is more important than what I'm doing?
Doesn't work. In the folder it creates, I see only "busybox" and "bash" binaries, but none works in terminal. Perhaps there should have been created more utilities (symlinks to busybox).
Lg g4 ls991 and the adds are not appreciated, even if it worked I would give one star over the adds. CANNOT LINK EXECUTABLE: "/data/data/burrows.apps.busybox/app_busybox/libc.so" is 32-bit instead of 64-bit page record for 0x7faa0f2010 was not found (block_size=64) a/user/0/burrows.apps.busybox/app_busybox
127|u0_a161@clark:/ $ ifconfig CANNOT LINK EXECUTABLE: "/mnt/expand/83e5a2a9-726f-4c3f-8d4f-4f93d4e654ae/user/0/burrows.apps.busybox/app_busybox/libc.so" is 32-bit instead of 64-bit page record for 0x7f94ce6010 was not found (block_size=128) 1|u0_a161@clark:/ $
It;s just says downloading, but not downloading. After few minutes its says download error. Is your server working fine?
Installer can't write to protected /data folder on non-rooted device. Call me crazy, but shouldn't it install BusyBox to /storage/emulated/0/Android/data ?
Now takes over the screen every 10 seconds with an ad, when trying to use the terminal. Makes it totally unusable. Man's gotta eat but this is ridiculous!
To much stuffing around when it should be as straight forward as it says in the discription. If we have to change what you ask us to paste, why not just fix in an update? It's so much easier to root then to muck around with app?
After clicking on Install, a dialog box pops but no progress is shown while download : (
CaANNOT LINK EXECUTABLE "/data/data/burrows.apps.busybox/app_busybox/libc.so" is 32-bit instead of 64-bit page record for 0x7fb465f050 was not found (block_size=64) I copied the command into the term emu like it told me to but i still get this
Everytim try to install it throws error something went wrong with installation and try again. Error is "something wrong went with installation. Please install busybox again and try"
It doesn't support 64bit, when running any busybox applet, it doesn't work due to 64bit incompatible
The busybox installed by this app doesn't support 64bit processor like in Redmi Note 2
It's probably a great tool, but without 64-bit support it's useless for me =/
Doesn't work on Nexus 5X. Installed it, updated the PATH in terminal emulator using initial command. nmpa doesn't work. Tried ls on the directory that is supposed to house binaries. It has only two binaries. bash and busybox
Popping ads are annoying. Used to work ok in the past, but recently pops up full screen ads at random times even over other applications. Completely unacceptable. Uninstall....
While it doesn't work on Marshmallow, I have faith that it will work with an update. Unless the update did something to totally break this app, in which case, never mind. Good effort, though.
It sucks alot it wont let me download the ffing app
CANNOT LINK EXECUTABLE: cannot locate symbol "stderr" referenced by "/system/lib/libcutils.so"... page record for 0xb6ed900c was not found (block_size=64)
Put an $ after path like the other guy said and put a : after the end of the whole thing l, then it works
This app keeps getting into trouble with Android upgrades, last time it was Lollipop, this time it's Nougat, same problem again and again. I have uninstalled this app and moved on to an AD free non-root busybox app named Busybox X. My previous comment to this app was: Lollipop support problem has solved, if anyone got any issues after update to Lollipop from older Android, just reinstall this app, will solve your issues.
Sadly, It has no support for 64-bit Android devices. Sent email to developer.
Just installed it, and had a kinds of Commercials popping up audio and video playing away multiple times will remove, not sure what happening, I used before?
Get the following error on every command: $ nc CANNOT LINK EXECUTABLE: cannot locate symbol "stderr" referenced by "/system/lib/libcutils.so"... page record for 0xf72a300c was not found (block_size=64)
A nice simple workaround to get the busybox commands without having root. If this is foreign to you or you run into difficulties; read on my frustrated friend. The final installation step for proper functionality is an environment variable string (LD_LIBRARY_PATH) novelley supplied by the author via your devices clipboard at the end of the installation. You will need a terminal emulator (easy download also included by the author) to input the command that was copied to your clipboard. Just add $PATH to it.
This app gives back the control to our hands with the luxury of keeping the phone not rooted. It requires only basic understanding how Linux works to install & use, and rewards us with all its features. There are some bumps on the road expecially with binaries that always require elevated permissions but the rest of the functions work nice! Thank you.
After clicking on Install, a dialog box pops but no progress is shown while download : (
When I try to create a symbolic link it says operation not permitted why is that(I am a bit new to commands) did I do something wrong or do I need to be rooted.
This app worked beautifully on my previous phone, but on my Marshmallow LG G Vista 2 most commands return an error as follows: CANNOT LINK EXECUTABLE: cannot locate symbol "stderr" referenced by "ls"... page record for 0xb6eb703c was not found (block_size=16)
I wanted to like it but it seems to be currently incompatible with armv8
school is much easier when I don't have to stop everything and locate a root. I tried to pay for ad free version. ?
I got the following , might be my device though and not the app. : _LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/data/data/burrows.apps.busybox/app_busybox < u0_a187@harrier_tab:/ $ sh CANNOT LINK EXECUTABLE DEPENDENCIES: "libc.so" is 32-bit instead of 64-bit 1|u0_a187@harrier_tab:/ $ seems to be working now, how strange :p issuing " LS " I get a full directory so I'm assuming it's working fine ???? I will update to 5 stars if you can confirm its now working ( new to this )
Followed the instructions in app and a simple ls gives me: 1|u0_a157@shamu:/ $ ls CANNOT LINK EXECUTABLE: cannot locate symbol "stderr" referenced by "ls"... page record for 0xb6f1b00c was not found (block_size=64)
An update: It appears that Marshmallow has broken Busybox. I need to do some analysis on the go sometimes, but don't fancy rooting my phone. This solution is perfect. I can now get some basic analysis done while I get to office.
CANNOT LINK EXECUTABLE: "/data/data/burrows.apps.busybox/app_busybox/libc.so" is 32-bit instead of 64-bit page record for 0x7fae68e010 was not found (block_size=16)
WARNING: linker: could not load library "libsigchain.so" from LD_PRELOAD for "ls"; caused by could not load library "libc.so" needed by "libsigchain.so"; caused by "libc.so" has unexpected e_machine: 40
It's probably a great tool, but without 64-bit support it's useless for me =/
Works well on my galaxy s3. Perfect way to get common Unix commands without root.

Some commands work, some don't. Great idea though. LIBRARY_PATH:/data/data/burrows.apps.busybox/app_busybox < u0_a197@HWGRA:/ $ lsusb Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 u0_a197@HWGRA:/ $ id CANNOT LINK EXECUTABLE DEPENDENCIES: "libc.so" is 32-bit instead of 64-bit 1|u0_a197@HWGRA:/ $
