Japan Trains for Android
I don't know what happened. This used to be my favorite app for navigating throughout Japan. Now when I search for a route, the origin and destination I enter just go blank.
Excellent app to use...checking every rail JR and private. Accurate and fast. Only problem is the every time have to enter names of stations in departure and arrival boxes. Does not save the previously entered info after going back. No saved route or search histories. With those fixed...it would be an easy 5 star.
Used it during my 2 weeks in Japan in 2015. Saved me time and money. The only thing I would ask to add is an option to show all the stops during the given route.
Difficult to select date as orange day marker does not move to selected date. You always have to tap, then hope it's correct ????
Awesome, convenient ap! But if they could install filters depending on your location in Japan, such as Kanto, Kansai, etc., that would be perfect. I don't need to know there is a Tabata in both Nagano and Tokyo. Update: For some reason, it doesn't give any information when stations are entered then Search is pressed. The page "reloads", and the keyboard pops up, without giving me anything else. Tried many options, all failed. This app used to be invaluable, now its unusable.
It's broken ... the one best train app for Japan. This is catastrophic. I've used it for two trips. Specifically, when you enter the start and end points, NOTHING comes up. This is REALLY depressing. Note: I see this app hasn't been updated in years. I expect that it no longer works on current Android.
its easy to customize your travel route with this app. i cant save my searches or preferred routes so if i hit the back button or try to see the rpute on the map, i have to reenter my search parameters again which is a bit tedious.
EDIT! DOES NOT WORK ANYMORE!!! I love this app. I use it every day! Unfortunately the History is not kept. I HOPE THAT SOON THERE WILL BE A FAVORITE SECTION. I TRAVEL THE SAME ROUTES OFTEN. IT WOULD BE NICE TO SET A FEW FAVORITES FOR QUICK SEARCHES.
Not too bad. It doesn't remember time and date, ever. When typing a station name and switch to and back from another app, station names are reset. First screen is therefore terrible. After that it's okay (but not brilliant).
It used to work on my phone Samsung s7 plus like a charm. But it does not work anymore. After typed in the stations and search. It just cleared all I have typed and no search result :( So sad, I have to take much longer time to look at other alternative means ;( Without this problem, I would give it a 10 stars out of 5 tho
This was a great app when I could use it. It was fast and only had 1 mistake or of the hundreds of times I've used it. It even had routes Google missed. However, I haven't been able to use it since getting my new phone. When I press search, it brings me back to a blank search screen. So, 5 stars for when I could use it, 0 for now.
This App is good to check which train service and fastest route to take. The short coming is that may does not show Nozomi Shinkansen (Bullet) train as the fastest route to go from 1 city to another. Only sakura train is shown. The app will receive full star from me if all possible fast trains service was shown.
This app is one of the most useful apps ever. I'd pay for it if it wasn't free! This made our Japan holiday easier because we had all the info we needed for getting around, especially getting the most out of our JR pass. For those complaining about not having access offline, plan your day ahead and just screeshot the route!

Bern absolutely vital to my travel around Japan, has all the major rail lines and even a lot of the smaller private ones as well. Have not found a station it didn't have yet. Just wish you could get more information on some lines, like how many stops the train has before yours, and/or a list of the stations so you know what the ones before it are
Needs updates for the two new shinkansen lines to Kanazawa and Hakodate. For the rest, it is awesome. What it can't do, is include all trains you can use with a Japan Rail Pass, but that is because Hyperdia (the engine used) has been screwing that up since 2010.
We wouldn't survive Japan without this amazing app. We used the trains(shinkansen, local trains, subways etc.) alot during our trip(tokyo, kyoto, osaka, otsu) and this app really helped us so much to bring us in our destination. Two thumbs up!
It finds the routes I'm looking for and presents them in a clean and readable way. There is no charge for searching shinkansen that JR pass holders are restricted to. Sunrise Trains also come up in the results when I filter for them, which is something the other app had problems with. It's a great app.
+++ english, options for JR Pass, offline history, sometimes platforms info, fare info, GAVE ME GOOD INFO for 3 weeks, best app for trains use Google maps for rest: buses, metro, trams, walking... --- not much help with stations name input, doesn't show total time of trip only time spent in train, not visually clear (small letters, not best colours choice) when showing to JR clerk to book tickets
I used this app from day 1 to 10, and it gave me accurate schedule. I don't know what would happened if I didn't install this app. Thanks developer :D

Installed this app and it gave no result to my multiple searches. Removing the app straight after this comment.
I used this app for my 2 travel in japan. It helps me plan ahead and pick my fastest route. I just hope it keeps last search in cache instead of forcing to search again.
Helped a lot on our trip. Only issue was some of the vital information is lost if it breaks over two lines as the second line only shows the top half of the words. Would be 5 stars except for that
I download this app as a substitute for Hyperdia but I end up liking this one even more. It is very accurate n easy to use. It also tells you the lane number which is a huge plus. I'd recommond this app for anyone using trains in Japan.
Used it every day while I was in Japan. Simple and fast. Some settings are not that obvious (like memorising your last search - which is off by default, but can be turned on in Settings/History ) Wish there was a way to turn on/off individual rail/ metro providers (to accommodate daily tickets in Tokyo) Overall great app, so thank you!
This app has made my life in Japan so much easier! I tell everyone about it and hope that in the future it will be able to show train delays.
Really helpful apps. I think i will loss if i dont have this apps. 2 weeks in Japan, round over 6 town with this apps.. Thanks thanks and thanks...
I used this almost daily for 4 weeks around Japan, worked fantastically! Would happily use again if I go back!
Asks for hyphenation and then goess mute. Tokyo Olympics is around the corner and there is no train route finder for crying out loud. Pathetic still after updates....
Great app, with a much better interface than Hyperdia, and the ability to pull up your recent searched offline without having to re-search (something Hyperdia can't do). I wonder if the train information is up to date though? The app has not been updated in 3 years now, and maybe trains have changed schedules since then? So far, it's been very accurate, but I worry now... Could use a small fix to remove the in the "for " lines under the train line name. That line is cut off by 1-2 pixels also, and sometimes it's missing completely, but the same text shows up on Hyperdia's website, so it's probably in the database.
The app works really well. Very straight forward and helps plan your route fairly well. However, it requires an internet connection in order to work which essentially makes it useless when I need it most. If I have an internet connection, I can just look up the route on Google Maps. This app needs offline support in order to actually be useful.
Used it for a week on my last holiday. Saved me a lot of time and effort. Just be careful of the time it takes to changes lines as this app can leave you with a 2min change over to the other side of a station
The user interface is quite dated but the functionality is solid. I noticed that when I was in Japan, most people seem to use Google Maps for train transit.
Super useful for trip planning. Made my holiday in Japan so much easier. Thanks!

Once you figure out that pressing the current tab (magnify glass, map) acts as the option button, you can do alot. The map will find your current location and long pressing a station name lets you set it as departure or arrival station. The
I love this app. But the map only shows Japan at the center of the world. It's so far out it doesn't list cities. I can also find no way to send a route to my calendar. Once these problems are fixed I can easely give this app 5 stars.

One of the best train app japan I've used. I've been using it in japan for the past 2 years. One shortcoming is the track number is not 100% correct so you still need to look at the display board at the train stations. Nevertheless, this app has served me well regardless of perfecture in Japan!
