About Smart Mobile Health
This solution is part of the SIM project, a joint initiative between Qualcomm Inc. - through the Qualcomm's Wireless Reach initiative, MTM, TIM and city of Rio de Janeiro. The project aims to provide a specialized mobile platform that supports well-defined clinical guidelines for patient treatment, adherence, and self-monitoring.
The SIM project comprises a clinical study to be conducted by medical researchers in which a mobile health platform, based on a specialized app developed for smartphones and tablets, working together with tools to collect patient information such as pedometer, heart rate monitor and scale, will support diabetic’s patients in Complexo do Alemão community, on Rodrigo Roig and Zilda Arns clinics. The study will demonstrate the impact that this type of solution has to better control patients’ health through a continuous education program and remote patient monitoring.
The mobile app is divided in modules that enable the patient to submit health information, track the progress of their health, receive messages from health care providers, and access the education material.
In the platform, patients can receive multimedia educational content and personalized messages to support them with tips on aspects such as nutrition and self-prevention. In the self monitoring module, there will be treatment info, reminders and customizable forms that allows the patient to send health data such as weight, level of activity, heart rate and blood glucose level, among others. The data collection is fully customizable so the health care provider is capable of defining the information, select the patient, and collect remotely with a period frequency defined by the provider. The app also shows the history of information collected so the patient can track their health over time.
From the clinical side, the doctors can administrate the mobile app tracking the patient information and manage the educational content. In addition, through the mobile app, the healthcare providers can define per patient, the information that they need to collect and contact them.
Furthermore, the APP will use the emotion recognition feature available in the Snapdragon SDK to identify patient emotion.
