قصّة سيّدنا إبراهيم مع قومه وقال أهل السيرة: آزر هو اسمٌ كان ينادي به إبراهيم أباه، بمعنى يا شيخ أو يا مخرِّف؛ حيث ذكر القرآن الكريم قصّة سيدنا إبراهيم عليه السلام مع قومه عندما دعاهم إلى عبادة الله، وترك عبادة الأصنام لكنّهم رفضوا دعوته متمسّكين بدين آبائهم ظنّاً منهم أنّها تقضي حوائجهم، فانتهز إبراهيم عليه السلام في أحد الأيّام الفرصة عندما كان قومه يحتفلون بالعيد، فذهب إلى المعبد وقام بكسر جميع الأصنام باستثناء أكبرهم، ووضع الفأس في رقبته، فعندما عاد القوم ذهبوا إلى المعبد ووجدوا الأصنام محطّمةً عدا الصّنم الأكبر، فجاؤوا بسيّدنا إبراهيم فسألوه هل أنت من حطّم الأصنام؟ فقال لهم: اسألوا الصنم فقالوا له هو لا ينطق ولا يسمع، فكيف تأمرنا بسؤاله؟!! فعرفوا بعدها بأنّه هو من قام بتكسير الأصنام، فأرادوا أن ينتقموا منه عن طريق حرقه في النار، ولكنّ الله جعل النّار برداً وسلاماً على سيّدنا إبراهيم؛ حيث ظلّت النار مشتعلةً عدّة أيّام دون أن يحترق منه شيء سوى القيود التي قيّدوه فيها، وحين انطفأت النار خرج سيدنا إبراهيم سالماً لم يمسّه شيء. قصّة سيّدنا إبراهيم مع النّمرود عندما انتشرت قصّة سيّدنا إبراهيم مع قومه وتحدّث النّاس عنها، أراد الملك النّمرود أن يجادل إبراهيم في دعوته: فسأله الملك: من ربّك؟ فقال إبراهيم مجيبًا: {ربّي الذي يحيي ويميت} فقال الملك: {أنا أحيي وأميت} حينها أمر الملك جنوده بإحضار رجلين من المساجين، فأمر بقتل أحدهما وترك الآخر، ثمّ نظر إلى إبراهيم وقال له: ها أنا ذا أحيي وأميت، قتلت رجلاً، وتركت آخراً!! فقال له إبراهيم عليه السلام: {فإنّ الله يأتي بالشمس من المشرق فأتِ بها من المغرب} فسكت النّمرود واعترف بعجزه أمام سيّدنا إبراهيم عليه السلام. هجرة سيّدنا إبراهيم قرّر إبراهيم عليه السلام الهجرة مع زوجته سارة وابن أخيه لوط الّذيْن لم يؤمن أحدٌ سواهما من المدينة، فذهب إلى فلسطين بالقرب من قرية أربع والتي نشأت فيها مدينة الخليل المحتوية على الحرم الإبراهيمي، ويُعتقد بأنّه دفن فيها بعد ذلك. ثمّ هاجر الى مصر بسبب القحط في فلسطين، وتزوّج هناك هاجر، وأنجب منها إسماعيل وهو بالسادسة والثمانين من العمر، أمّا سارة فأنجب منها إسحاق، وكلاهما من الأنبياء. قصّة سيّدنا إبراهيم مع ابنه إسماعيل عندما أصبح إسماعيل شاباً رأى سيّدنا إبراهيم في منامه أنّه يذبح ابنه، وبما أنّ رؤيا الأنبياء حقٌّ امتثل إلى أمر الله تعالى وذهب الى ابنه اسماعيل وعرض عليه الرؤيا فقال له إسماعيل: "قال يا أبت افعل ما تؤمر ستجدني إن شاء الله من الصابرين"، وعندما جاء ليمتثل إلى أمر الله ، وأراد أن يذبح ابنه، قام بوضع ابنه على الأرض حتّى التصق جبين إسماعيل بها، وهمّ بذبحه ولكنّ السكين لم تقطع وتنحر سيّدنا إسماعيل، وحينها جاء فرج من الله، بنزول الملك جبريل بكبش فداء لإسماعيل، قال تعالى: {وفديناه بذبح عظيم}، فجاءت سنّة الذبح والنّحر الّتي أصبحت سنّة للمسلمين كافّة، يؤدّونها في الحج عند البيت الحرام وكذلك بقيّة المسلمين في أيّام عيد الاضحى.
كان رجلٌ اسمُهُ آزر، منجماً لملك جبَّارٍ يُسمَّى (نمرود) وكان (نمرود) كافراً باللهِ تعالى.
فقال آزر للملك يوماً: إني أرى في حسابٍ للنجوم: أنّهُ سينشأُ رجلٌ ينسخُ دينَكَ أيُّها الملكُ، ويدعو إلى دينٍ جديد‍
فسأل الملك آزر: وهل وُلِدَ هذا المولود؟
قالَ آزر: لا..
قالَ الملك: ينبغي أن يفرّق بين الرجالِ والنساءِ، حتى لا يحصلَ تزاوج، ليكونَ بينهما نسلٌ.
ثمّ أمَرَ الملكُ بمفارقة الرجالِ للنساء، ولكن شاء اللهُ أن تحمل أمُّ (إبراهيم) بهذا المولود. فحملت.. وأخفَتْ حملها عن الناس، حتى عن أبيه. فلمّا أخذ أمّ (إبراهيم) الطلق، ذهبتْ إلى مكانٍ مستترٍ ووضعتْ بإبراهيم، خوفاً على ولدها، ثم قمطته، ورجعت إلى دارها. وكانت الأمّ تختلف إلى ولدها وكان ينمو إبراهيم نمواً سريعاً حتى بلغَ مبلغَ الفتيان.
واشتدّ حكمُ نمرود على الأولاد، فكان يقتل كلَّ ولد ذَكر. ولكن شاءَ الله أن يبقى إبراهيم في أمنٍ من الملك السفَّاك.
خرج ذات يوم إبراهيمُ من مخبئهِ، وعمرُه إذ ذاك ثلاثَ عشرة سنةً. فنظر إلى آثار قدرة الله تعالى في السماوات والأرض، وشاء الله أن يلفت نظر إبراهيم إلى آيات الكون
(وكذلك نري إبراهيم ملكوت السماواتِ والأرض وليكونَ من الموقنين) وهكذا، كان ينظرُ إلى آياتِ الله تعالى، حتى قربت الشمس للأفول.
(فلما جنّ عليه الليل رأى كوكباً) في السماء وكان الكوكبُ (زهرة)، ورأى إنّ جماعة من الناس يعبدونه، ويخضعون له فتعجّب من فعلهم هذا.
و(قال) مستنكراً عبادتهم للكوكب: (هذا ربي)؟ ونظر إليهم في صمت! لكن كان يتحيّن الفرصةَ، للردّ عليهم..
