جميع الأمم القديمة مارست السحر
1- إن أول بداية موثقة تاريخيا لممارسة السحر الأسود كانت في بلاد فارس من حوالي 5 آلاف سنة قبل الميلاد على يد كاهن يسمى (زورستر) ويعتبر هذا الساحر واضع طرق السحر وأسسه التي سار عليها الكنعانيون والمصريون والهنود وغيرهم.

4- أما الكنعانيون فقد كانوا يعتقدون اعتقاداً كبيرا في القوة السحرية التي تشعها أجساد القطط والكلاب. وكانوا يتشاءمون من نباح الكلاب ليلاً ويتهمونها باستدعاء الشياطين لإلحاق الأذى بالسكان وهم نائمون. ومازالت هذه الخرافة شائعة بين بعض الناس حتى اليوم.
5- بعدها جاء اليهود وهم يعتبرون من أخبث السحرة وأعلمهم..
ولديهم كتابهم الشهير (الكالابا) ولا يوجد إلا لدى أكابر حاخاماتهم وقد حاول الكثيرون الحصول على نسخة منه عارضين دفع كل غال ونفيس ولكن بلا فائدة

وكانت هذه اللعنات والتعاويذ تخصص لجلب النحس للخصوم السياسيين أو لإلحاق الأذى بالأعداء..
تلك التعاويذ كانت تسمى(كتاريس) وقد عثر على 55 قطعة منها في الحفريات التي تمت طيلة ال90 عام الماضية في منطقة (كيرامي) قرب السوق القديمة حيث اعتاد الساسة إلقاء خطبهم وسط الحشود
بعض تلك القطع كان منقوش عليها بوضوح عبارة:
(إنني أقيدك بالأرض)..
أغلب تلك (الكتاريس) يعود تاريخها إلى القرنين الخامس والرابع قبل الميلاد
ويقوم عدد من العلماء برئاسة السيدة (يوتا ستروجيك) رئيسة المعهد الألماني للآثار في (اليونان) حاليا على دراسة تلك (الكتاريس) ومحاولة ضمها في كتاب يتحدث عن دور السحر الأسود في توجيه الحياة السياسية في (أثينا) القديمة..
و(الكتاريس) تحفر على رقائق من الرصاص وكانت تدفن مع تماثيل معينة في قبور الشباب بالذات..
