NOOK: Read eBooks & Magazines for Android
As an avid book reader, this has been the best way for me to endulge. I have used this app for years. Having my books all in one place and not worrying about being able to find the next book in the series has made my passion for reading all the better. I would rather read a book on here when my husband is trying to sleep than use a book light on a paper/hardback book and stuggle to get comfortable without shinning it in his face. I highly recommend this app over any other app for reading.
It's slow, it's clumsy, it can't be uninstalled, it's the single biggest resource hog on my system--what's left to say? I prefer converting my ebooks on my PC in Calibre and using Aldiko on my tablet, a move that B'n'N is working hard to make not possible any more. Fortunately, there's always Amazon (with their own resource-hog app, Kindle Reader). Hate Nook, hate Nook, hate Nook; just no better way to put it.
I had a first generation Nook. When it finally died, I added the Nook app to my new tablet. Great product. I've now had the application for 2 years...and love it even more. Syncing between devices is great. Archiving books I've already read saves memory. Organizing all my books is so easy. I still love it!!
Did an update and it updated to the previous CC I had on file. I have been buying books for months with my new CC. Now my kindle app is looking like the better option. Get it together nook. Plus I would really like all of one authors books regardless of series to be grouped together. It would make it so much easier to manage my book content.
If you try to gift someone a book, they must enter their credit card number, even though you already paid for the book. When I contacted Barnes & Noble, they simply said it was their procedure, and either they give their credit card number, or they couldn't have the gift. Customer service was terrible. I'm waiting on my refund after cancelling my order and went to Amazon with no issues. It was even less expensive on Amazon. This was the second issue I had with Barnes & Noble. Never again will I order from them.
My tablet comes up with an error message the nook stopped working. The Nook tablet just plain flat blank whenever you open a book. Two different units and neither work. Customer service said they were aware of the situation and to try again in a couple of weeks.
Nice app. Would like better organization of books. My shelves doesn't really work all that well. Would also be nice to be able to have some time of form like spreadsheet listing all the books. Really glad to be able to have an option of having 500 books at one time. Not a fan of the over inflated prices of each nookbook.
I love books. Reading is like air to me. The Nook app makes it easy for me to read anytime and anywhere. I have a Nook, the Nook app on my phone and I have loads of actual books. I find my authors easily and quickly. My spot is held automatically if I have to switch to a different app or take a phone call in the middle of reading. I also get to preorder new releases from my favorite authors. It is awesome. If you don't have it, you need to download it and stop missing out!
I like this since my actual Nook is broken, but I am very upset that I can no longer watch the movies that I PURCHASED through my Nook. There used to be a video option, but it is now gone. I would like to have the products that I paid for.
Need t report a problem that showed up recently. But where? Unable to read my messages from B&N. App is very slow to load. B&N says this is not their app, this is a Google Play app. How do I get these bugs fixed? I have no problems with B&N or services provided by Nook. I have enjoyed reading here.
My Book does not let me download from ANY Wi-Fi except inside the Barnes and Noble store! I have been back to three different stores and they did not help me. I called Customer Service and they did not help me. Please tell me why Book cannot use any Wi-Fi available in restaurants, libraries, and Starbucks...that is where I read my Nook. Thanks!!!
I am using a Pixelbook, and the app worked great until it updated. Now it closes every time I try to open a book. I can do anything else without any issues. You would think an app to read book would let you actually read them.
Have had my nook for 3 years and now can't log in on my internet account and it will not accept my email account no matter how many times I log in Barnes and noble account making sure password is correct, I can't log in to my nook. Ready to put on trash
Can't download anything, crashes every time I click on any title, book or otherwise. Says internal error right before it crashes.
The latest app version does not work on my galaxy Note 10.1. I am very disappointed. I have now upgraded to a Galaxy Tab S3 which enables me to run the latest version of Nook. I am pleased so far with the updated version.
I had a Nook tablet & loved it. I bought books, magazines & games from the Nook/Barnes & Noble web site. Now I have an android tablet & I use the Nook app. The Nook app does not allow me to play the games I have purchased. I'm not happy about that. But I'm very happy with everything else.
I've never really had a problem with this app until when I downloaded it on my Galaxy S8+. I'll load up a book and I can only read one page at a time; I have to back out of the book so I can load it again just to swipe to the next page. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but it keeps doing the same thing. Bummer.
This is already a great app. What would make it better would to be able to sync all my devices to where I finish reading and for the brightness control to go dimmer. When reading on my phone I have the brightness turned all the way down on my phone as well as on the Nook app and it is still too bright. Another thing would be to sort all the books I download into categories like mystery, thriller, romance, childrens, biographies, etc. That would make it easier for me or my grandkids to find suitable books.
I've been using this app on my Samsung galaxy s2 tab (now android 7.0) for over a year. I read on it almost every day. All of the sudden today it keeps crashing. I go to the app in the Google store to see if maybe it needs an update and it says, "your device isn't compatible with this version." What the actual heck? I've been a nook user for years and years. I bought the actual nook tablets until they started pushing Samsung devices for nook. Now I cant read my books? I bought the Samsung S2 tab because IT'S ONE OF THE ONES NOOK OFFERS and still.does as of today on their site. It IS compatible. It's working with my Samsung S8+ phone, but I want to read on my tablet. That's the only thing I bought it for. Ticked off customer
Really love it on my phone and 7" tablet. Would give 5 stars if it worked on my Asus Chromebook. Have sent multiple feedback msgs regarding this but Nook/Barnes & Noble apparently don't feel the need to acknowledge or respond to them. Would really like to hear something.....
If there was nothing else to recommend the app, it's the ability to archive books so they don't show up in one's library unlike other competitors who don't have this feature. This is the one feature that keeps this app #1 for me. The other features are simply a bonus.
Have had to uninstall and reinstall numerous times due to app crashing when trying to open a book. Very disappointed as I had a Samsung nook for years and until recently it was perfect.
Nook: saving me from awkward family encounters since 2016. No one knows I'm reading about murder.
I am unable to download the books I have purchased crom Barns and Noble. I have reloaded the app. two times, have tried to archive the books (unsuccessfully) and still can not download them. I have received confirmation on their purchase. HELP!
Good app, never problems reading books. Lots of low cost books available. However, some issues with downloading across devices (Nook, nook app for android, etc.) and can only archive books on smartphone, not Nook HD device.
Ive never read much in the way of books on a tablet as i enjoy the feel and smell of a real book. But with the Nook app i find i have so much more to read in an instant and the app does a wonderful job of giving the feel of a physical book.
I would rate it higher, however, there were many magazine advertised in the news stand which are simply not available. It's one truly redeeming factor is what is available is much less expensive than Kindle news stand.
I have had the original Nook, loved it, so of course when it jumped in the pool and I had to get something new the first thing I did was install the Nook app. I love that I can be reading a book on my tablet then pickup my phone and continue reading. Lots of free and low cost books, so everyone can find something to read.
Can we please get rid of the stupid "also bought" screen at the end of my periodicals. Nobody but nobody asked for it. Its annoying and slow, and has a bug where it pops up incessantly any time I try to zoom and drag on the last screen of my newspaper. Annoyed.
Nook is the only way I read. It is on my phone and I always have my library anywhere I go. Anytime I have downtime such as dinner alone or the doctor's office I open Nook. The best thing about it is when it is late in the evening and I can order a book in bed or at book club and I hear a selection and can order it on the spot. I love it.
Used to love this app but not anymore...for some reason I can no longer download my books with just my data...I have to be connected to WiFi and that really blows because I have unlimited data on my phone! I tried calling Barnes and noble directly and they were basically rude. One guy told me to get a new phone and it is a new phone that I have only had a couple of months...smh!!
I'm a 48 state o-t-r truck driver and this is my library on the road. Aside from very minor spacing issues and word run-on's (which don't bother me and are really rather rare), this app gets it right. Great job, thanks!
First and best. Still the easiest and most trouble-free of all the readers. It is quirky on Windows 10, but prefer using my very olf Color Nook or my android tablet anyway. Long may it last!
Lately this app has been shutting down and not allowing me to read any book. I have uninstalled and installed again and still no luck. This is on a chromebook
I have had it for years and it is still quite useful. I use it to look up names or particular terms for my studies. I also use it to read a book or two while I'm traveling.
I love Nook! I first started using it when I got a Nook. The Nook has long since gone to electronic heaven, but one of the first things I put on any new device is the Nook app! I can read anytime, anywhere.
This last update is ridiculous. I stopped using the Kindle because of the needles extras. I was shocked to see the Nook update is remarkably similar. Guess I'll be switching to Google books now.
My books won't let me open them been a problem for awhile. Have to re purchase and then sometimes doesn't work not happy with nook.
Fast and simple to use. Never need to use reading glasses. If my eyes get tired i adjust the font size and margins

Nook from Barnes and Noble was my first e-reader, and it remains my go-to for any e-book it will read. Some proprietary texts or other essential works not I Nook supported formats force me to use other readers, but my desire is always to find a Nook - compatible format if at all possible. The ability to annotate my books as I read, and the extensive library available makes me choose and shop Nook store selections before I go to any other. I have been using a Nook TabS2 by Samsung, but I recently I have transited to a Samsung TabS3 10.1, and I have even more flexibility in reading. Nook still remains as my e-reader of choice. It us that good! No, that excellent!!!!!
