Yet Another Auto Brightness for Android
Needs an update. Gs8 the night mode is too low and the range is out of limit to adjust. Otherwise it works great. I donated and used it for years with my other devices but it's not practical on my new device now
The name is a little silly, but it's simple and does the job well. The stock auto-dimmer on LG V phones gets too dark, and this fixes it. My only complaint is that android detects a "screen overlay" when granting any permissions to other apps, but I assume the developer can't get around that so I can't deduct any stars. Best to install & configure all your other apps before running this one.
I tried almost every free and paid Screen Dimmer/Night Screen Filter app out there. This is by far the best in terms of ease of use and low memory usage. No fuss setup after installing the app and I've donated to support it's development. Support for Blue Light filter and Android Nougat will make this app great again!
Its working very well than stock auto brightness. Night mode works like charm on my Amoled display. But one thing is it is not minimum brightness that my screen can support when in Normal mode even after adjusting min , max ranges.Minimum brightness limit slider is all way down too.
Perfect. Allows you to set min and max brightness range, has a manual adjustment slider and has quick transitions. Useful when using Waze or Google Navigation so you don't have a too bright or too dim screen.
One of the best app for screen brightness. One problem - if you use QuickPic for your photos and love feature "maximum brightness", with YAAB it not work. That's why only 4 stars.
Remains resident effectively if all relevant options are enabled. Might be nice to have a little damping in the response, and is lacking enough flexibility in the gain controls for ideal general operation – though the night mode mitigates the latter to a large extent with some experimentation with thresholds etc. More reliable than Samsung's own auto-brightness, anyway, which has a nasty habit of stopping working and leaving an unusable display in daylight until reboot – if you can see to do it... I do notice that in Android 6.x, the app has an overlay that interferes with adjusting permissions on other apps, however disabling it for YAAB doesn't seem to obviously impair its auto-brightness functionality. Odd – something never used but left in by mistake?
App would be perfect as it works brilliantly but for some reason it always stops working despite all given permissions, auto start option, no restrictions and app set to work in foreground. I have Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime on Marshmallow and MIUI 8.1.1.0 Global. Please fix it.
Used it for some time. But for some time it's switched to night mode during day time by itself...couldn't see anything on the display in the daylight. Eyes got extremely tired of it. Just switching to something else. HTC M8
This app solved my S5 Active auto brightness problem. Very low power consumption also. Great job!
The in-app purchases are for donating to the developer, and I highly recommend it. We need more quality open-source projects like this, and donations are the only way to keep them worthwhile for the developers.
I don't need this app on my Note 4, since it will actually go dim enough for me. But it was absolutely essential with my S3. It worked perfectly and I appreciated it very much.
Used to work quite well, a must have app in my opinion, since it is one of the most efficient battery savers out there. But "Unfortunately, YAAB has stopped“ "Unfortunately, YAAB has stopped“ "Unfortunately, YAAB has stopped“ every time I try to start it back. Have to re install to work again. Quite annoying to do that every week so I'll be looking for an alternative app.
I thought this was finally what I was looking for, but you can't alter the auto brightness intensity from the notifications pane like with touchwiz. And there's no widget as an alternative. If this feature is added I'll give 5 stars :)
Okay, first you have take your time setting up this app and you'll find it's the best one for auto brightness! Any quick setup you try may not give results your looking for causing you to uninstall and look elsewhere. If you take your sweet time to figure out the results of each setting and utilize each to your taste including the night mode (mine set lowest "1") you will find by far the best auto-brightness app there is. I've tried all the good ones even paid this is by far the best. Bravo to Creator!!
Great app does everything that it claims to do. Just one suggestion to add a manual timer setting for night mode as sometimes it switches to night mode in day time. Update:Not going on minimum brightness on Moto g4 plus
Great app. Only issue is the permission to draw over other apps causes conflicts on Nexus 6P. Constantly have to turn off to change permissions on other apps. Then you have to turn it back on again.

But,need custom time settings for night mode delay.
So basically when this app is installed, I cannot press the 'Allow' button when any app asks for permissions. Only the deny button is clickable. A very annoying bug post a few CyanogenMod updates. Devs, please have a look into this.
Works great except it causes problems with most other apps. Might just be the nature of the beast, but it's not worth it when I constantly get a "screen overlay detected" error.

Works fine with the extra keep-alive, though I'd like a non overlay brightness mode (thanks to Android M security) and a bit more fine grained curve and speed control. Night mode has too low range, even max is very dark.
Difficult to use at first but have every function i need. Drain my phone's battery more than screen
Finally an auto brightness app that doesn't cause systems m hiccups or random screen awakening, and is not ridiculously complicated. 5 stars, hands down.
Auto brightness does not work on pop up screens/menus. Whenever there is a pop up, brightness turns to max and kills the whole experience. Please fix this?
I believe I tried all of them and this one is perfect. During the day and in the dark, it always takes care of the right illumination. Couldn't believe it when I tried YAAB. It would be even better with a blue light filter in the night mode. This is actually very important as recent studies show.
The only way this could be better is if you could keep the stock Samsung brightness bar but that's not your fault
Works good and keeps away some phone "dimmer flickering bug" what seems to be connected to some backlight %. Hope this stay as it is. But app lacks a smoothed reaction on minor change in light conditions. Even sitting still in a room I see as it all the time tuning backlight up and down... Don't do it so often and at times I use touchscreen. W8 for this features! Thanks!
If you hate the auto brightness minimal level, This app is a life savor. One minor thing that could be improved as that the swift in brightness could be a little more smooth. But as functionality goes, it's perfect.
Tried some, not what is supposed to be..this one is responsive at the environment light changes, which is exactly the reason why you want it
Works nicely as a standalone. If you don't have such a case, I can recommend. Do the devs have any solutions to fix the brightness being switched to minimal when case is closed and quick circle in use?
It is one of the best auto brightness control out here... To the developer, I strongly recommend you increase the night mode threshold from 80 - 100 as the suitable night mode threshold from my experience is greater than 80 but below 100 to avoid screen flicking when indoor with bright light.
It's not very affective. When at a level to see eye strain still a problem & when set to darker I can't see to read also it doesn't work on all apps. Bummer
Installed on Samsung Galaxy S4 Active on Kit Kat and now Lollipop. Very rarely have to adjust brightness manually. Maual adjustment is about 90% and minimum brightness is about 25%. Samsung's Auto setting was always too dark indoors with no overhead light.
When night mode is engaged, second screen becomes 100% non responsive.
Sir, can you please add a scheduler also rather than just being manual effort? many thanks.

Pretty great, my favorite one out there, but still not perfect. I would love it if this app could have two more features: one, I'd like to still be able to control my phone's default slider, or at least put a slider on your notification. Second, it would be so great if you could implement some light machine learning so that as I adjust, it can know based on time of day what I prefer the phone brightness to be at a given light reading. For example if it's relatively dark and the phone dims, during the day, I don't want it to dim too much. But at night, I want it extremely dim. Right now, night mode just turns on whenever it reads the light below a certain threshold, but if this feature were added it would be a little more clever about context. Bonus comment, when my screen is white because of the app, the light reflects on my face. Then the phone reads the brightness. Then it turns off night mode. Then I get blinded.
