About Art Widget
"Art Widget" app displays famous paintings and other artworks of well-known artists who worked in various styles: Gothic, Renaissance, Mannerism, Baroque, Rococo, Neoclassicism, Romanticism, Realism, Pre-Raphaelites, Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, Neo-impressionism, Symbolism, Modernism, Cubism, Expressionism, Fauvism, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Pop art, Futurism, Suprematism, Surrealism, Postmodernism, Contemporary art, Mannerism, New Wave, Orphism, Minimalism, Abstract Expressionism, Ancient Art, Dadaism, American Art, Sculpture.
Click on Refresh button to move to the next artwork.
Click on the picture in the widget to open application with detailed description of the artwork.
Click on the picture or on text inside the application to show even more detailed information from the Internet. Use Settings menu inside the application to change widget preferences like language, refresh frequency and select information to be shown in widget.
Use Share artwork menu inside the application to share image of artwork in Facebook, Twitter or other social networks.
Widget is resizable, so that you can choose the size that suits your needs. This program can show information about artworks in Catalan, English, French, German, Italian, Polish, Russian, Spanish and Ukrainian.
This program requires a network connection for getting images of artworks and access to device storage for caching them.
Check out "Art Widget Pro" if you also want the same functionality but bigger pictures and no banners.

Arrrgh!Navigation is a pain,you have to refresh to get to the next picture.The arrow button at the top doesn't work. You cant see all the art at a glance.Other apps do a better job with no banner ads constantly spoiling your enjoyment.It downloaded at 1.60mb but it's already 6mb and I've only looked at two paintings with no save to sd card.Uninstalling.:@

A feature for saving your favorite artworks into a collection would be nice. I have to go into my Google Arts & Culture app and hope I can find the same piece and save it thee if I want to go back and look at it later.

This app is not visible in my app data settings so I can't turn off background data. The amount of data it's eating has gone up x10 in the past 3 months. There really should be an option to only update over Wi-Fi.

I didn't write many reviews but I love this app!!! I will refresh for hours clicking on any works I enjoy and learning about the artist and the piece! The way it is designed is super easy to understand and intuitive! Strongly suggest downloading and adding an art page to your cell or tablet! You will probably be so glad you did. If you're going to waste time on one of these black hole devices you might as well get a little knowledge and culture, right? Hahahaha! Enjoy!!!

Clicking on the image takes you to wikipedia where you can find much more information. Only thing that stopped me giving this 5 stars is that some of the art is a photograph of a statue - which personally I'm not keen on, I'd rather is was exclusively paintings.

The best app for killing time! I love this app and spend hours just refreshing new pieces of art! It's well designed and you can click on the artists name and/or the pieces names to bring up the corresponding Wikipedia page. It's that feature that makes it 100x cooler than just a basic art widget. Like I said I've probably spent over 50 hours just enjoying this app! It's addictive and educational! It's soooo cool. You'll feel nowhere near as bad about wasting that 30 minutes on your phone! believe me! know how FB leaves you feeling empty, useless and like a P.O.S. for wasting all that time on it? Imagine the exact opposite and you have art widget :) I still give it 4 stars because: 1) there should be backward and forward navigation keys for when within Wikipedia pages... for example let's say I'm reading Caravaggio's biography but am interested in a link on the page to another Wikipedia article (ie. an article on Venice or the Renaissance) well I can't go directly back to the Caravaggio article all I can do is close Wikipedia all together and click on the artists name again to reopen the Wikipedia page... slightly annoying but in no way a deal breaker. still love the app but would like to see that backward/forward browsing feature implemented!!! would make the app even better! 2) the ads. I get it though, you gotta make money too bro :) Honestly, other than that, it's flawless and that's so impressive in itself! DOWNLOAD THIS WIDGET. YOU WILL USE IT, CONSTANTLY (!), AND ENJOY IT IMMENSELY!
