David Martin fut un pasteur et théologien né à Revel. Il fit des études de Théologie, Philosophie, Histoire et langues orientales (Hébreu en particulier). Après la révocation de l’Édit de Nantes, il a du s’exiler. Étant protestant, il a été pourchassé et il a du partir en Hollande, où il commence à écrire d’ouvrages de science et théologie.

David Martin va s’attacher à faire des corrections aux anciennes versions de la Bible mais il va aussi la traduire. Il créa son chef d’œuvre, la Bible Martin, dans un style simple tout en conservant la force et la précision du texte original.

David Martin was a pastor and theologian born in Revel. He made studies Theology, Philosophy, History and oriental languages ​​(Hebrew in particular).
