GC Babble Outdoor-Navigation

Die Taschenlampe benötigt Zugriff auf die Foto-/Video-Funktion des Geräts.

GC Babble ist der Geocaching-Kompass, der Dich per Sprachausgabe zum Cache/Ziel führt. Du kannst Dein Smartphone bei der Suche in der Tasche lassen, da die Richtung & Entfernung über Lautsprecher oder Ohrhörer angesagt wird.

Ohne ständig aufs Display zu starren, wirst Du Bäume, Pflanzen und Tiere sehen, die Du als Cacher noch nie zuvor gesehen hast! :-)

Die App ersetzt NICHT die bekannten Geocaching-Apps wie Georg, c:geo, Neongeo oder GC.com usw., sondern erweitert die von Dir genutzte App um einen weiteren Radar / Kompass bzw. um eine weitere Navigationsmöglichkeit.

(Hinweis für Neulinge: Um die App zu nutzen sollte natürlich GPS eingeschaltet sein. Die Genauigkeit des Magnetkompass und des GPS hängt von der Umgebung und von der Qualität Deines Geräts ab. Text to Speech (TTS) wird für die Sprachausgabe benötigt. Ist oft bereits vorinstalliert.)

Gestartet wird GC Babble aus Deiner Geocaching-App heraus über eine Auswahl-Liste in der z.B. auch die GoogleNavigation, GoogleMaps und andere Radar-, Kompass- und Karten-Apps zur Auswahl bereit stehen. Bei c:geo z.B. über "Menu -Navigieren - Radar - GC Babble". Wenn keine andere Radar-App installiert ist, startet GC Babble direkt beim Druck auf "Radar".

Du kannst GC Babble auch direkt als einzelne App starten und die Zielkoordinaten von Hand eingeben (z.B. beim Cachen mit ausgedruckten Listings oder beim Suchen von Multicache-Stationen). Hierbei ist das Speichern der Koordinaten sehr hilfreich.

Da GC Babble auch im Hintergrund arbeitet ist das Navigieren beim gleichzeitigen Lesen der Listings und beim TJ-Telefonat möglich.

Die Bedienung ist sehr outdoor-freundlich. Die Grundfunktionen lassen sich per Lagesensoren und Hardware-Tasten sogar bei abgeschaltetem Display bedienen. Das spart Akkuleistung und Nerven bei einem im Sonnenlicht schlecht erkennbaren Display. Die Display-Ausrichtung (Hoch-/Querformat) wird beim Start fest gelegt um ein ungewolltes Umschalten bei der Benutzung zu verhindern.

Um die Cache-Suche so angenehm wie möglich zu gestalten, habe ich noch ein paar kleine Zusatzfunktionen eingebaut. Eine davon ist das automatische Umschalten zwischen Magnet- und GPS-Kompass und die automatische Parkplatzerkennung mit Parkkoordinaten-Speicherung. Außerdem wird Dir beim Schreiben des Logbuches das Datum und die Uhrzeit angesagt.

Die Zielkoordinaten können auf verschiedenen externen Karten angezeigt werden und dank der direkten Anbindung an die Google-Navigation ist eine Anfahrt per Straße nur "ein Klick" entfernt.

Auch zum Gruppencachen hat sich GC Babble bewährt, da jeder die Ansagen hören kann und die Gruppe sich sommit selbst lenkt.

Vermuggelte Innenstädte lassen sich am Besten mit Ohrhörer becachen. Damit kann man sich noch besser als interessierter Tourist tarnen. :-)

Ganz hilfreich ist es außerdem, dass das Smartphone in der Hosen- oder Jacken-Tasche oder sogar im Rucksack bleiben kann. Es kann Dir also nicht so schnell in einen Bach fallen o.ä. Außerdem hat man die Hände frei zum Suchen, Greifen und Klettern.

Ich habe meine Idee & den Quellcode an die Macher von c:geo gespendet, da ich für regelmäßige Updates keine Zeit habe. Diese haben die Sprachausgabe jetzt in ihren Kompass eingefügt. Toll gemacht Jungs... Danke, dass GC Babble in Eurer App weiter leben kann :-) The flashlight needs access to the photo / video function of the device.

GC Babble is the geocaching compass that guides you by voice output to the cache / target. You can leave your phone when searching in his pocket, because the direction and distance will be announced via speaker or earphone.

In your geocaching app out starts GC Babble on a selection list in the example the Google Navigation, Google Maps and other radar, compass and map apps to choose from are available. You can also start directly as a single app and the target coordinates manually enter (eg when caching with printed listings or searching by Multicache stations) GC Babble. Here, the coordinates are saved is very helpful.

Since GC Babble also works in the background to navigate the simultaneous reading of the listings and the TJ-phone is possible.

The operation is very outdoor friendly. The basic functions can be operated via position sensors and hardware keys even when the display is off. This saves battery power and nervous when in sunlight poorly recognizable display. The screen orientation (portrait / landscape) is the start set to an unintended switching to avoid when using.

To make the search cache as pleasant as possible, I have built a few small additional features. One of them is the automatic switching between magnetic and GPS compass and automatic parking detection with Park coordinates storage. In addition, you will be announced the date and time when writing the logbook.

The target coordinates can be displayed on various external card and thanks to the direct connection to Google's navigation is a route by road only "one click" away.

Also the group caching GC Babble has proven because everyone can hear the announcements and the group directs sommit itself.

Vermuggelte inner cities can be becachen with earphones best. This allows you to better camouflage themselves as an interested tourist. :-)
