FTPDroid for Android
Tried a few and this ticks all the boxes, also fast. However doesn't seem to run on an S7 (rooted or not) - says "Unable to start service (invalid argument)."
Not sure why but it simply doesn't start on my S7 Edge. The log simply shows invalid argument. Very disappointed and glad I tried the free version first before wasting more time and money.
Only worked once installed on internal storage. If installed by default on SD storage on Android6 it would fail with can't create folder errors which took ages to fix. *install on internal storage only*. Once up you can upload to external storage etc just fine.
Not compatible with Android 5+. It's a shame really, bought it some time ago because it was the best FTP server available. I wrote to the developer (it's a relative simple recompile to make compatible), no response.
At last, an FTP Android server "full root access", which allows to delete files on extSdCard under Android 6/Marshmallow ! I had another good one before, but I could only upload/download from/to my PC, not delete (even the ones I had uploaded myself)
Dead app, evidently. Not up to date with storage permissions.
# Excellent FTP SERVER APP for Nougat Devices Installed on 2 devices. Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro (kenzo) and Samsung Galaxy Tab S (klimtlte). Both with LineageOS 14.1 (Nougat 7.1.2). Working perfectly on both devices.
Fail to start service, invalid argument. Android 6.0.1 october update. Before the update it worked
Please allow ftp service when hotspot is on. It shows no wifi connected. 5* when issue resolved
Works great on earlier Android versions. Running android 7.1.2 Nougat, it will not autostart. Everything else is functional. Dev please fix this as your app rocks otherwise!
The only app that supports read and write on external sd card on android marshmallow. Tested on sony xperia z2 device
Good multi user accounts and home. But can't write acces to MicroSDcard
Great for syncronizing files with PC.
does not run on s5 with L
does not run on s5 with L
easy to use. allows anonymous login with or without upload rights.
No go on my rooted Acer A1-810. Starts & then stops immediately. Why?
The server does what it is supposed to do, it can access root directory, works stable. The only problem is that it keeps running in background even with the FTP service off, eating battery. I have to kill it with long-press of Back button.
Using over WiFi as very good option to share file of my mobile and from other devices. Anonymous renaming has some problems but that's fine I know where the new folder is created.
Seems like its no longer there, the app is convenient, unlike many other FTP servers for Android, root access works nicely. Will buy a pro primarily for the WiFi whitelist.
Like the main app However this is a review of just the pro key. Only buy this if you want 2 ftp icons next to each other. this key requires the free version to function, and there's no way to hide the key icon from the launcher. This is a huge oversight in a app key.
This is a good piece of development. The free version allows one user (Pro unlimited) account(s). Enable read/write access by creating an actual user account, with a password (the anon login allows upload, download, no rename, no edit only). This app provides a fast eficient method for managing files on your Android device, without Rooting, from Mac, PC, or Linux, even other Mobile devices!
I wanted a lightweight solution to host a file server when WiFi is not available. With this, I can use mobile hotspot to create a network for my friends to connect to, and then use this app to create the fileshare. All without them needing any special app. Just what I needed - thanks!
Nice app. Huge Thumbs up! It would be nice if you could add an email feature so that when the program starts at bootup, it can send the Address used via email. This can be handy when you need to connect tour tablet which you left at home.
You can't ask for more. Free version has AD and one user limit. That is completely fine! It creates local FTP which you can browse with Total Commander for example. This is a must for users with USB-c phones.
The most straightforward way to move files between pc and phone.
They all suck

Tried a few and this ticks all the boxes, also fast
I just paid for the pro version, but FTPS connection fails with the message: "GnuTLS error -110: The TLS connection was non-properly terminated." I hope the app provides a default (internal) certificate so that the user do not have to make their own to enable FTPS. It requires lots of work.
Works perfectly as per the description
Can you please help me ? I am trying to transfer some files from PC to a phone connected to 3G. I have disabled "Require WIFI". I've typed the ftp address on PC Internet browser but it just won't connect. I get internet page cannot be displyed. My phone is rooted. Please help. Does the pro version have the same issue ?
It's been almost a year since lollipop came out, still no support. Developer doesn't respond, app hasn't been updated since November 2014
CS981 TV box on ethernet says ready momentarily then says stopped. No reason given. No support.
It stops by itself after few seconds
Articles led me to believe I could see almost any file or folder on my Droid. Not so. Can't see the "Images" folder or the pics in my "DCIM >> Camera"on my Motorola Razr M with FTPDroid, but I can with Windows Explorer and a cable. Not sure what the reason is for having this. If it's just about losing the cable, who cares? I still have to plug it in to charge it.
Will only run for a few seconds at a time
Easiest way to transfer files to and from PC
Not working on my nvidia shield. it opens, then it crashes. hoping that can get fixed soon

Works good on my phone, but I downloaded to use on my Android TV box to get content on it. Unfortunately, in Android TV the GUI does not work. The start and user buttons are completely missing, and also there is no way of opening the menu with the remote control. I also tried a bluetooth mouse, and it's still the same. No way to start the service, and no way to open the menu. If the developer fixes this, then I guess it will be a really good option to use with Android TV
