Does what's on the package, but can be so much more! MPD on android lives again, and does what it's made for. Altough some essential config options are missing, it's perfect! I hope to see the addition of at least a password and an easier location picker for less "geeky" users implemented in a future release. Of course, this is not all that MPD can do, but it would be a good start. Also, Database refresh button on the main app interface would be useful to verify the manual type-in path to the music folder. Again, does what it's supposed to do without any trouble. Way to go dev!

It doesn't recognize when an ogg file has multiple genre tags. Only reads one of the tags. Hard to keep my music collection organized without tags being read correctly.

Really cool to have a personal mpd server on my phone, nice combination with easysshfs and a media server :D database proxy support would make it even more useful.

My only gripe is that I can't specify having a UNIX socket in the GUI to have a more reliable local connection, but other than that it's excellent. It's the only music player on Android I've found that supports Matroska audio (.mka) and has consistently gapless audio regardles of codec. The best part? I can use any mpd client I want to from any computer. Accept no substitutes: mpd is the real deal, and now even on Android with this app.

Fill a MicroSD card with music, install ampd, and hook your old Android to your stereo. Violà, you have an awesome, remote-controlled jukebox. This is the best use I've found for an old Android device, especially one with a mediocre display.

It just "werks". It's like a simplified version of mpd. Maybe being able to manually update the database and or add other outputs would be cool. However it works great already and solid as is.

This app runs a server which indexes local music files by tags and filename. The MPDroid client makes it easy to search by tags (artist, album, song title, etc.) or browse by filename to create queues and playlists and play music in a way that seems comparable to desktop players - a design most mobile music apps lack.

Works as described! Been looking all over for such a solution.

Can't save playlist. Can't put playlist to play on startup. Cif directory can't be fully scanned, some size limit issue. However it works...but with limitation and version was not updated from 2013

Just what I needed - I use mpd on linux, didnt expect to find it on android. Works perfectly, thankyou. Wifi not required for a local connection, connect client to 127.0.0.1 works even in airplane mode.

I'd love to use sockets instead. Localhost is not reachable sometimes after network changes

aMPD turned my good old Defy into a garage-media-player.

It works great for my purpose, and allows me to play my music/favorite network streams in my bedroom where I don't have a dedicated media player set up.

Running aMPD on an old smartphone connected to the amp in my living room. Mounted NAS music share with Cifsmanager and my old phone is my new networked audiostreamer now, controllable from any device on my lan network. Great job man, thanks a lot!

This app does exactly what I've always dreamed. So many apps out there for doing the reverse (android-based MPD client), but I've always wanted an MPD _server_ on my phone and was just about to try writing it myself. Now I don't have to! Thanks!

I have a UG802 running android connected to my hardisk containing music files (via usb) and to a AV Receiver (with a 5.1 setup) via HDMI. And this app helps me to use my laptop (running Linux) as a front end for playing music. Now I can control my 5.1 setup just from my laptop and dont have to walk upto my AV receiver each time. All I had to do was to install 'Ario' music player on my laptop The only thing I find broken is Volume Control. Volume + and - doesn't seem to do anything

is there any chance to work without WiFi? __ yeah it's possible though playback can't be controlled. it just plays after switch off the WiFi. hope this will work as a standalone player in future.

This is perfect so far. Though a rudimentary client would be nice, ie display current playing track, volume and maybe a play/pause button. Just as a nice fallback/panic controls.

tguillem is my hero. He has ported the original MPD code from linux to Android, and the port works very well with no noticeable bugs. It supports additional functions of richer clients, such as volume control and seek within file while playing, as well. This makes it even better than the original distribution of MPD on Ubuntu...

Works just as I'd expect now. Easy to set up and sound quality is fine.
