About Good Vibes
Over 1 million children under the age of 10 in the US alone have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
These children oftentimes fail to recognize basic facial emotions, which can make social interactions and developing friendships challenging. Gaining these skills requires intensive behavioral interventions that are often expensive, difficult to access, and inconsistently administered.
This app uses Affectiva's technology to help portray real-time social cues — and to administer feedback (in this case, positive reinforcement) using Pavlok’s vibration settings. It’s a subtle, easy way to let the wearer know whether they’re positively engaging in a conversation.
This simple app allows the wearer to log interactions and receive feedback about how positive or negative they’re feeling, and how worked up they might be getting.
When they’re in the target zone of positive engagement, they’ll feel a vibration pattern — good vibes — that will signal to them to keep going. A summary page will allow them to see the number of interactions they’ve had in a period and how many good vibes they got, measures that can provide incentive for them to try for even more positive interactions in the future.
This device supports Pavloks.
