myGov Access - code creator for Android
I can't get pass "tap the code to copy" I tapped and copied the damn thing 20 times now and getting NO WHERE!!! Even tried restarting... oh look, opens straight to the same page. Why do we need a access code when there is a username and password? How can I read my messages if I can't just login like a normal human being? Am I missing something? Why does the page keep refreshing with a new access code every 30 seconds and not move on? I resolved the issue! Go me!!! Just used another app and got straight in.
Just because I had to reset my phone, I was told to create a new myGov account. There should be an alternative solution to this. After the reset, the app wouldn't work telling me to go to myGov account settings to remove the connected device, but without a code I couldn't log on and go to the settings. I was willing to create a new account with the same email, but that wasn't possible neither. Terrible app.
Worst app and worst method of access to a required service. Once you use it on a device you are locked to that device. Good luck if you get a new phone or computer. Absolutely ridiculous app. Fix it and fix the id system.
This app is excellent. It is great to see an alternative 2-factor authentication method to SMS codes, due to how insecure SMS 2-factor is. Nice to see security is being taken seriously by the government. It would be nice if mygov just used TOTP codes so you could use google authenticator.
I'm having trouble with my login as it says I'm connected on a different device although only using this device from the very beginning. Would like some assistance
*edit* THIS APP IS JUST A CODE CREATOR!! At the bottom of the app description it states it does not allow functions or changes to myGov. It would be great if this app was not the first to display when searching for the myGov app and the description stated clearly at the top that it is only an access code creator! As other users have commented, the app stops at the 30 second code refresh screen, continually refreshing and not moving on even when the code has been copied. Considering the Centrelink app is demanding that the myGov app be used instead (with a 40+ day countdown), this app needs to be fixed STAT.
I cannot get past the copy code section. Great idea but clunky. Needs work
Why does this need to be its own app? Please just let us use Authy or Google Authenticator or any other standard TOTP 2FA app which we already have installed, and where we might be able to back up our codes so that losing a phone doesn't lock us out of our account.
i couldnt work out why it kept flashing a code at me with a time countdown. im just trying... sob... 2 create a mygov account. dont use this useless app
Better than SMS which is a broken system. But this app is dangerous! It will break your account since there is no recovery if you get a new phone or reinstall! Should be using standard Authy for TOTP which has backup and multi device synch, instead of reinventing the wheel with a broken non backup app. Stick to SMS until they fix it, too dangerous unless you want to waste 2 hours makin get new account.
It thinks its working on phone screen will not turn over to you can use a tab. Also gives a warning that from now on you have to use the app all the time to log in. I use my desktop computer most times. So it may lock me out if i use another device. An application like this is to important to get wrong. Given the amount of nrgative feedbacks will some public servant contractor get off their ars and fix it.
Seriously? I need to be able to receive an SMS to set this up as my second authentication factor? I installed this app as I'm overseas and don't want to pay for global roaming, and thought for a moment that perhaps this would be the solution. The government really needs a better IT strategy.
Does exactly what it is supposed to do. Maybe try explaining what exactly it is supposed to do, Instead of us all here hitting copy endlessly waiting for something to happen. Whoever implemented this app has done half a job, glad to see you're earning your 100 grand. Well done! Cue eye roll..........
Thank you. I now have to create a new account. I had to reset my phone and now I can't access mygov. Not impressed
I cant get passed the damn code. Not only that i tried the website and it locked me out
Well. The people who made this app. Maybe be clear where to go and what to do when we got the code. I deleated the app after 3 or 4 minutes thinking of what to do. Because i had no clue. Then now i cant get into my Mygov at all. ???????????? Very stupid to be honest.
Useless. Installed. Told if I delete app or lose phone I may be permanently locked out of site then try to log on and it's like Centrelink...down..try again later. Totally useless and potentially damaging app
This app works for me. It is, as it states, a code generator for logging in to mygov when you don't have mobile reception to receive the login code via sms. I don't have mobile reception where I live, so this app allows me to login. Very simple set up. Useful app.
What more can I say. Government are inept at almost everything. If they were a person. They would slapped themselves in the back of the head and then turn around to see who did it absolute morons no idiots a couple of classes Below a moron
If you have to reset your phone and you have this installed then you have to create a new mygov account because after the phone reset the codes don't work stupid app
I ended up with a bloody Indian my gov ....My stupid fault I thought there we be only one because chick at SA services said SA was the first My Gov App then the tap code thing on ours goes around in circles
I admit user error but there also needs to be a way to undo said error. The only option should not be to completely delete and then reset the entire account, even when in contact with myGov. This is a colossal design flaw.
Due to app being uninstall I how now lost access to my account , have spent the last 2 hours trying to gain access only to have this happen TO NOT USE THIS APP
You login all details then it repeatedly send you a code that you cannot tap once and or twice or more for that matter to go to the next page. If the Australian Government is planning on using this app to replace all the others it needs to fixed and updated before deciding to close down all other apps.
It is useless as it asks you you're secret question and when you answer it it says That's not the answer we have i definitely know my answers so can't link my centerlink as can't get past the security question part
It just gives you a code so you can log in from my gov site on internet instead of them messaging you a code you copy n paste the code from the app pretty pointless I say and actually more time consuming....
I wish I had read the review before using this app to log in mygov account, it's absolutely useless and a waste of time! It didn't work no matter how many times I tapped the code. When I tried to log in with my desktop, it asked for the code generated by the apps. I used the app to login but said I was using another device for logging in, what the H is going on? It showed that I have to create a new mygov account, what am I supposed to do now?
This app. Must have been written by a 6 year old. It's impossible to use. And amongst threats if not used. Centerline. My gov. Or whatever you are calling your self wake up. This is Australia not a central African republic.
Does the Australian government not want us to go overseas? It's impossible to get your code sent to a phone when you can't even update your details with a foreign number.
I uninstalled the app and then reinstalled, but it denies it and claim the app is installed on another device. That's why I lost my chance to login my mygov account forever. Hated it!!!! There were some half filled applications and I need to start all over again.
It just doesn't work. I've been notfied that the centrelink online app is going to be scrapped, so I downloaded this figuring it'd be roughly the same. I was wrong. This is worse, which says alot.
Same as everyone else, can't get past code screen. Why aren't you fixing this? There is plenty of feedback about the issue. Uninstall... Click!
This app doesn't work! Not happy cause l had to put my email address and password so someone can scam me BULL....!!! NOT MOVING FROM COPE CODE PAGE. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!!!!
USELESS, I hope the govt did not pay much for it. I could not get past the constantly changing code, I could not paste the code anywhere. Waste of time.
I hate it. I don't have a pc I can do my reporting on trying to do it on a Web page on mobile is rediculous. This app is the stupidest thing.
I have forgotten my password for my mygov account. Centrelink require the account to be linked to mygov. I request password to be sent to both email and/or sms. Both say a code has been sent. Nothing ever arrives. This app, as well as the centerlink app are proving absolutely useless in password recovery. Still no luck and 5 days to go. Thanks for nothing.
I thought I would try this to generate a code, as I have very poor phone reception to receive a login code as per usual. It does not generate a code, but rather stays stuck at a blank white screen. We need an app that works like the Centrelink app. I wonder if the Australian government could show such ingenuity ;)
The worst app I've used ever. When I changed to new phone, keep using same number. The app still sticks to the old phone so I thought I must uninstall the app from the old phone then it would work on the new phone. Uninstalled from old phone. Trouble!!! Couldn't get the code any longer from new or old phone, rang DHS and the recorded voice told me that they are not able to help with recovering the App, and that I have to REGISTER a NEW MYGOV account. Then I did, no other choice, it took ages to link all services again. Think twice before install this useless piece.
This ap is ridiculous. Centrelink want us to log into mygov now, yet when you log in it just states processing endlessly and you carnt get into the site. Why dont they just leave things the way they were.????

So it seems like the Australian public didn't realise they had downloaded a code generator which is used for two factor authentication. This is standard for most important services that require a log in. Instead of receiving a text you use a code that is generated by THIS app. Authenticators like this are not supposed to be the full package, only a way to log in. The code will refresh every 30 seconds to increase security. Not the hardest thing to figure out but I understand the confusion. Leaving a negative review based on your incompetence is stupid. The app works as it should.
