Tourist Refund Scheme for Android
Stood in line for 40 min. Only 3 staff on duty. They eventually gave up and told us all to fill in forms... everyone was furious. seriously TRS you are a joke. Zero stars if i could.
Sydney airport queues were very long for both app and non app lines. The app line moved faster than the non app line, and once at the counter processed the claim quickly.
Great application. Easy to use and lets you know exactly how much you are getting back from the tax refund. Best of all you get to skip the queue!
Quick & straightforward
Had no issues using it a few days ago at melborune airport
Easy to use!
Fast as expected
The only thing I had to do is turn up the brightness on my Nexus 5 for the barcode to be scanned. Otherwise, it walked me painlessly through the required steps, and it was a treat to skip past the handful of people who were waiting in the standard line for their claim.
What's the point of this app when it still requires a staffed kiosk for it to be processed. No staff at the customs kiosk, requires the traditional paper forms to be completed. Making the app pointless
sped up the airport process and was easy to use.
With QR code & all still was in line (full of non english speakers with no QR code & unprepared to claim) for 45 min until I had to give up & run for gate missing both refund & airline lounge Not buying the "shop as a tourist in Australia" bull again - shopping in Australia is expensive & especially so when they make getting promised redund on GST impossible
The app is fantastic but the Border Force staff at Melbourne airport serve non app claimants much quicker. I wont bother next time.
It just works. Very easy.
There is no point using this app if the manual processing lines are moving faster. The have two lines for manual and one line for this app user at Melbourne airport
Do it with one hand while you line up!
Still had to wait in line
Excellent for easy documentation and swift process
I entered invoice that is 48 days before departure but the app is not accepting it. Can u please fix?
Ran from domestic to international as I was only given 90 minutes for the international connecting flight. Got through immigration in record time and had 40 minutes until the 30 minute cut off at TRS counter. Only to have the lane for the TRS app code fast lane unavailable. F¥!& you Australian customs!
Great app easy to use
Phones are not allowed at the TRS counter in melbourne, I had the QR code but the guy told me off for bringing out my phone.
Used the app in anticipation that it would save time for the processing on departure from Sydney International. Unfortunately, the line was so long that waiting for the GST to be refunded was not possible. Obviously the Australian Government does not want to be handing back GST, but there are many other countries that make this process so much easier electronically than waiting in a queue of 100 or so people. Getting through Customs and Security is a breeze, time wise, compared to claiming back your GST
Useless - Screens don't accept input on Nexus 5
Don't bother, the app is useless. Just do it the old fashion way!
I completed everything and got my QR code ready at sydney airport only to be told to complete a paper form and submit in an envelope with my receipt. They said I'd get the receipt returned to me if I included a self addressed envelope. This was 30 Dec. Now nearly a month and a half has passed. I've received no refund and no receipt back..which I wanted to keep for warranty. I had left plenty of time to process this at the airport and would have preferred if this app was useful and procedure was followed
The app is easy to use but the lady at the airport didn't know how to do it so after stuffing around for 5 minutes she ended up just doing it manually. How typically stupid of a government department to create an app to improve efficiency to just fail to train the staff so it is counter productive.
Couldn't enter anything without it crashing. After the 8th attempt I gave up.
Rápido e prático
Bar code scanner at Sydney airport to almost 10 mins to scan via app. Airport staff needs more training. The code was finally scanned after hopping over couple of counters.
Swift pass through BNE
Very useful and time saving application
The app is helpful, but the scanner seems a little insensitive to read the QR code smoothly.
Convenient and save time
App worked, but the Sydney staff weren't trained on how to use it. They sent us back to the paper line, couldn't get the qr code to scan, and cost us more time than we saved.
The lady couldn't read my code. They wanted me to zoom out but the app wouldn't allow me (samsung s5). Luckily there was no queue but the app was pointless
There was a massive line of Chinese tourist in Sydney. Maybe 100 ppl and you know the trs process takes time. There was only 1 person in the app line and took maybe 2 minutes to complete my claim. Highly recommended for ppl who value their time.

I'd followed every instruction to the letter. I entered the info into the app. I brought along the products and parts in my carry-on so I'd have proof. I had the resulting QR ready on my phone...but there was no employee at the office at the Darwin airport to scan it. Only a stack of paper forms I could fill out and staple with my original receipts, which of course I didn't have bc I used the app. I emailed an enquiry, and they have replied: I do not get a refund.
