About Up2Date
Paper based diaries are a very large and significant part of our organised lives. All printed products have the same inherent problem and that is; due to long lead/production times the publication is potentially out of date as soon as it is printed.
To illustrate that point Upward 2014 diaries need to be distributed to retail outlets in July 2013 meaning all dates, artwork and editorial needs to be signed off in December 2012 to allow for manufacture and importation. In December 2013 12 month after we signed off our artwork the Qld government proclaimed a public holiday on 14/11/2014 for the Brisbane city area due to the G20 summit.
There is no one in our market with the ability to overcome this situation, so we needed to developed our own solution and lead with innovation.
Upward diaries needed to find a way to keep our printed diaries up to date and relevant in this fast paced every changing world. What we have been able to achieve is a very clever mobile phone app that allows us the opportunity to push print updates out to our diary users. The app is available free of charge to anyone who buys our paper based diary and is installed on their mobile phone. Through a central console we have the ability to update all the dates we publish in our diaries, add new information when required, notify at appropriate intervals prior to the event or date as set by the user and push those update to the user’s mobile phone so they can transcribe the information into their paper based diary. This means our users can be extremely confident that we are looking after them with the most accurate and up to date information available on any platform be it paper or electronic.
Initially the Upward App was going to be a vehicle to deliver the Upward Quote of the Day to diary users, but like all projects it has evolved. The App now provides users with the following information categories:
• Daylight Savings
• Equinox/Solstice
• Full Moons
• Public Holidays
• Religious Holidays
• School Holidays
• Special Days
• Upward Product News
• Print Correction and of course
• The “Upward Quote of the Day”.
If you vote, use and recommend this app we will continue to invest in future developments that potentially can push this information into your electronic calendars as well.
All of us at Upward diaries hope you enjoy the app and the most “Up2Date” Australian calendar content available.
