What are users saying about Yarn for Hacker News

Q70%
by Q####:

There is an issue with scrolling the article list, where there appears to be lag, and the list won't start scrolling until your finger is at least a certain distance from the point you started. This makes it kinda jarring and jumpy. Only real issue, but it's high impact.

Q70%
by Q####:

Not a ton of useful HN apps, but this is easily the best one. Kudos.

Nice to get rid of the ads but the Readability feature doesn't work :-(

V1.7.8 now working great on Nexus 7, thanks Tim.

N70%
by N####:

Not sure why when I open the application, why is it so slow to load the feed? The yc website is much faster and now has a mobile edition.

L70%
by L####:

It's well done. I really can't complain.

N70%
by N####:

The one big missing feature. Glad I could remove ads

Z70%
by Z####:

Looks pretty, but browsing occasionally breaks, comments frequently fail to post, no way to view replies, upvotes rarely work... Really wish it was open source!

N70%
by N####:

Elegantly Simple HN reader

N70%

great app to read hacker news

T70%
by T####:

Won't open after latest update :(

N70%
by N####:

Very rarely has odd behavior (such as a blank story listing) and that only happens when my network connectivity is especially volatile. Excellent, simple app. My favorite feature is the AMOLED dark theme. Thanks!

N70%
by N####:

Very fast, well designed and love the OLED mode. Only two annoying quirks - scrolling is choppy and feels non-native and it's too easy to trigger the context menu on a comment when you meant to scroll.

N70%
by N####:

...but it still has a few quirks. Upvoting posts is a little inconsistent and the comments change order upon each refresh. There also is currently no way to view your submitted posts or comments. Besides from those and a few little glitches, it's by far the best and most functional Hacker News app on the store. Definitely would recommend.

N70%
by N####:

The ads still cover the comments or articles sometimes, it's a bit buggy but does the job.

N70%
by N####:

I liked the basic functionality. Paid for it, but up-voting simply works maybe 10% of the time. Reported it to the dev, said he'd look into it, but almost 2 months have passed with no updates. I develop myself and hate leaving bad reviews, but up-voting really is central to HN.

N70%
by N####:

So many HN readers are available and this is the only worthwhile one at the moment. I do wish it had one click access to comments, but that is a small price to pay for consistent performance and the commenting features.

N70%
by N####:

Has everything and is fast. Just needs font size options too.

N70%
by N####:

The best IMHO

K70%
by K####:

Sometimes the app will take a while to start scrolling, possibly because the app is detecting horizontal along with vertical movement. This is pretty noticeable when scrolling through comments. Other than that, loving the app

H70%
by H####:

This has quickly become my main HN app (previously used the free one by Manuel Maly until that one started giving voting issues; I love the simplicity of that app). Just paid for the upgrade (removes ads and adds readability support) because I'd like to support the developer and maybe we can see the ability to downvote added ;)

M70%
by M####:

When viewing a post and you pull to refresh, the points counter is updated but not the comments counter. Also every once in a while I get 'story not supported' or something like that. Overall a good app.

N70%
by N####:

I like this app a lot and I could be replacing my old app with this, but I have a reading problem, would much preferred that you can let the user change the font size, I would prefer larger fonts. Edited: after change my phone to Asus Zenfone2 I can't login anymore. Still crashing on the newest build as of 08/21/15

K70%
by K####:

I'm sure I was able to upvote posts and save them to favorites when I first installed this app, but I can no longer do so.

N70%
by N####:

Great app! One small suggestion though: I realize that having adds is important but it would be nice to be able to scroll up the comments far enough to be able to read the last comment. Currently, the add blocks the last comment.

N70%
by N####:

I've tried several Android HN readers and nothing comes close to this.

E70%
by E####:

Great app, but I agree with the other review: scrolling is choppy, and it's really hurting the usability. LG G2 D802.

N70%

My favorite HN app so far

Z70%

Great, but for some reason scrolling down is a bit skippy

Good enough.

T70%
by T####:

Definitely one of the better hacker news readers out there. But it would be a good thing to be able to disable/remove the long press on comments that opens up the user/reply controls as I often hold my finger around there to keep the screen on, and find the comments keep disappearing. It wouldn't be so bad but the only way to get the comment back is a swipe, practically across the whole screen, which sometimes takes a few attempts.

U70%
by U####:

Unable to submit posts, or view favorites on Galaxy Samsung S4 mini.

T70%
by T####:

Does what you expect it to do. There is some room for improvement though: code in comments doesn't appear formatted (all indentation and line breaks gone). When you are reading comments, you have to scroll all the way up to reach the top menu bar. I would expect the menu bar to pop back when I *start* scrolling up. These are all the complaints I can come up with. Bonus points for the dedicated AMOLED-friendly theme.

I70%
by I####:

I am in love with this app but please fix one BIG annoyance: it list items and comments slide themselves while I am trying to scroll the page. Please fix it now.

D70%
by D####:

Solid app, and the developer is responsive to feedback.
