Pocket Casts for Android
Great podcast player and well worth the money. Their patch notes are hilarious which means a lot to me. Free syncing across devices and it backs up all your podcasts. Fairly frequent updates. It runs smoothly and is virtually bug free. I am a voracious podcast listener and the only podcast player that I have found to be better is "Downcast" on IOS. However this is a strong second and by far the best podcast player on Android. I could not recommend it more. Thank you, keep up the hard work
I don't ever rate apps, but this particular podcast app is absolutely the best across the board for Android. Perfect UI, the queue interface a beautiful, and the team behind it is definitely worth supporting. Also, Russell Ivanovich (the dev) being a host on the Material podcast makes the whole app experience seem extremely personable. If you're reading this review, then buy the app.
It's all freaking awesome, just two small things: how can you remove a single track from the up next? There's only the option to clear all. Also, sporadically, podcasts keep repeating random 10 second segments like the rewind button was pressed though it's still locked and I hadn't done anything. Everything else is awesome, from the listening options to the selections and design of the app.
It's one of the best podcasts services i've seen. It has a nice design and useful features. Two negative points, on my Huawei phone I can't control the media buttons on the lockscreen and the order of the podcasts in the grid is not synced on multiple phones, too bad...
The app was great until the latest release. Now, errors are a constant. I can typically play several podcast, so that is a plus. But occasionally, multiple times each day, it errors (Unfortunately, Pocket Casts has stopped) and shuts down. I've reported it countless times, but no reply and no fix. I switched to Pocket Casts from Doggcatcher, as Pocket Casts performed better, with more features. May have to take a look back, as reliability is important too.
Just downgrading my rating because its always playing over calls on Samsung S7. Now it's got auto up next it's just about perfect. I don't understand how the two auto up next options are meant to work. They don't operate on the ordinary English understanding of the words but that's a small gripe
The app looks great except it misses two critical feature. 1. You do not have epidose search feature to the podcast you are subscribed to. 2. There is no exit button to the podcast you are listening to on webplayer. If these two isseus are fixed, then its 5/5
I love this app and it is the best podcast player I have found, but the current version crashes regularly. Whenever I start playing an episode, and then go to add more episodes to the now playing list, the app crashes. I assume this is just a temporary bug which will eventually be corrected. It really is a great app.
Pocketcast is no doubt my go to player! @ShiftJelly! 1. Cool name choice. 2. Help me please. The app has been crashing multiple times a day recently. I even reinstalled it. I have an S6 Edge. What's a girl to do?
The search functionality seems to be broken. When searching for a generic term to find new podcasts related to the keyword no results are returned. For example searching "beer" returns nothing. In general it's very hard to discover new podcasts, the pre-poulated suggestions on the discover section is limited and there is no search functionality. It would be great to have a much stronger search function such as keywords, filters for countries etc.
You guys rock! App gets better and better everyday. Thanks for fixing the issues with the Sony Xperia X5. My Dad is now enjoying his podcasts even more, even though it's pissing my Mom off that my Dad always has his headphones on. Lol. They're a retired couple. It's quite cute.
Best podcast app I have ever used. For a Samsung user, the loss of the fast forward and back buttons on the lock screen is painful. If you could add this feature into your to do list, that would make it a 5 star product. Keep up the good work.
Even with all streaming and mobile data related setting set to off, this app still streams podcasts on my mobile data if the podcast is set to automatically add to your play list. Why can't I just tell your app not to use any mobile data and expect it to obey? I have had to pay for excess data usage twice because of this problem and I'm really not happy about it. I've tried to be careful but I just caught the app doing it again just now. Fixing this should be your number 1 priority, especially given that the existence of setting which appear to prevent streaming.
I really like this app, its definitely the best podcast app I've used. However, the support for custom podcasts is lacking. You have to dump everything into one folder and it has issues with SD cards. This is an issue since I like to purchase podcasts from time to time to support the shows. However, I'm guessing for most people this won't be an issue.
I used stitcher before I came here. This app is worth every penny in polish and feel. This is so much easier to control while my phone is mounted handsfree on my dash. It works nicely with my phone and tablet! Syncing works great too!
My favorite podcast app. Having recently moved over from an iPhone, the one thing that feels different is the snappiness of the swipes. Swiping down on a podcast description to dismiss feels way slower on Android and the shade sometimes gets stuck like I didn't swipe enough. If you could make one improvement, a little more speed or a speed setting for swipe actions would be awesome.
Almost perfect, but it still has a quirk that's annoying. I submitted a bug report months ago but when you use wifi only download when connected to power and you have some podcasts configured to add to the beginning of the up next queue, the app will queue podcasts in the play queue before they are downloaded. This means whenever a podcast finishes and it goes to play the next podcast, it stops. Hitting play forces it to stream the missing download and use data. In reality, pending podcasts for download shouldn't be in the up next queue. Only reason I can't give it 5 stars.
Probably the best in the Play Store. Just wish they'd fix the broken syncing, add categorisation options and mark all episodes as unplayed when you add a new podcast.
The best podcast app for Android. Not going to lie, I've strayed and tried others a few times but I'm always back to Pocket Casts within 24hrs. Others are clunky and playlist management sucks. Pocket Casts gets it right. I'm sticking with it this time. Well worth the money.
I was so frustrated with the bad user experience on free podcast apps (I tried three or four) that I broke down and bought this one. Well worth it. This is one of the best apps I have used in any category. I appreciate the developer putting in the time and energy to make a great product. Thanks.
Great design, easy to use. If you listen to a lot of podcasts, the features allowing you to skip show themes, silences and change (read: increase) playback speed will help you keep up-to-date with all your subscriptions.
Love pretty much every aspect of your app. The only thing I'm missing is the possibility to use Android system equalizer. Any plans on adding this feature?
Occasionally plays with no audio, and have to force kill. Not sure if app or Android. Also stops playing when I get a notification sound and doesn't resume. Otherwise my podcast app of choice, and I've tried a few. Nexus 5x.
I have way too many subscriptions for this layout anymore. I need a faster way to sort and arrange my podcasts! Help! Also, still no way to sync your podcast layout from the mobile app with the webapp.
It's great looking and feature rich, my favorite I've found. The biggest downside is that there is an awful crackling in the audio on any fast forward speed, which is unfortunate since I like to listen at 1.1x or 1.2x speed.
Honestly, is the best podcast app! Everything works seamlessly, from auto download to playback. The only thing that I'm missing now, it's a better interface for Android Auto. Just can't play a whole list at once, I have to select file by file every time. But still, best app out there!
I really like the app, however what seems to be missing is an option to be able to search through the episodes of a particular podcast channel (keywords and title) before I choose to download. I am confident that this would be a very simple yet helpful addition.
Great little app. I've had issue with it showing the media buttons on the lockscreen with the previous version, which has been resolved with the newer version but now it crashes most of the time when entering lockscreen and has to be am restarted. Boo.
Could you give an undo option for when swiping away a podcast in the now listening? Sometimes I swipe right right by accident instead of left and don't see what I lost.
The app was fantastic until about a week ago. Now it stops whenever I open another app, or even when my GPS comes on when both are connected to Bluetooth. Frustrating.
Resisted at first but Google play doesn't offer all the podcast networks like PC. I like how fast it loads episodes. Love the design. Overall I should of bought this app 2 years ago.
This is a fantastic app and by far the best podcast app ever. Anywhere. Anytime. On any platform. In addition to being well designed it's got tons of features for avid podcast listeners. Finding new podcasts is easy and thanks to sync you can easily sync all podcasts, episodes and even position in an episode across all your devices. I've tried them all and this is the best podcast app by far.
When adding podcasts to the queue, it will momentary hang. Unsubscribing from a podcast will also cause it to hang. I feel like the app should be running at a decent speed on my LG G3.
Love this app. It rarely crashes, unlike all the other podcast apps that I have tried. Well worth the few bucks that is required to buy the app. I was not disappointed.
This is a highly functional app with few bugs. It does need a few things though: a list view for all of your subscribed podcasts, and more user-friendly stream option. That's all. Good app for what it's worth.
Would love it if streaming AND downloads could both have review/reply option. Nothing worse than listening intently but then having something/someone distract your attention. Boom, you missed something important!
Great app but can't seem to figure out why I keep on hearing an echo what I wear headphones. I have used different types of headphones and then use those and other devices and still have the same problem just using from my phone and play the app through headphones. The the Bluetooth feature is fine it doesn't have an echo to it.
Wow. I can't believe I didn't find this app earlier. I have tried every possible podcast app. Variable speed is amazing and works well. Offline mode is flawless on long airplane flights. I really can't say enough. BEST PODCAST APP OUT THERE. BY FAR.
Podcasts are an integral part of both my professional and personal lives, and I cannot imagine a better conveyance for them than Pocket Casts. Everything about this app and it's included widget are a win. I would give it more stars if I could.

A great podcast app! I really enjoy using this app. I like it, the design is really good. I have some suggestion: 1. Give "next" and "previous" button so we can change the podcast easily, let say, while driving. Because sometime you just don't want to finish the podcast that you are listening at that time and want to go to the next. 2. Being able to give rating and reviews to the podcast we listened. It is a good chance for us listen to a podcast and want to give comment about the good or bad about that podcast. I hope the suggestion will help you to improve this app. Anyway thank you very much for this great app. I like it!
