PayStay for Android
This app is designed to suck your money. There are so many features they could add to prevent you from forgetting to turn off your parking but it's absolutely limited. Black and white rip off. Also some of your responses to the reviews are so disappointing. Not addressing barely any of the issues.
Encouraging to sign up on the website makes for a headache, although I found once I had and was in the app, it did the job. Turned out cheaper than the metre ✌ but adding to an account a bigger sum of cash only seems acceptable if using a parking area with this service often. But I can see how it makes credit card fees doable as a business.
I'm 50/50 on this. It's convenient and cheap but for some reason it didn't start working today and the end result was a $155 fine. That's a lot for the sake of convenience. It's hard to beat the certainty of coins and a paper ticket. Shame the council couldn't work with PayStay to recognise my history of parking in that spot every weekday and offer me a slightly lower fine or chance to pay the normal fare. It would be good if PayStay could work this in as an incentive for users.
A simple parking app that asks for your name, phone number, email, year of birth and postcode to create an account immediately raises concerns. They may claim it's for security reasons, but if you want security and peace of mind, try storing LESS of your customers' personal information, not MORE. And claiming that PayStay is a "post-paid" model is a joke when you're requiring your customers to top up potentially months before they use their credit. Come on councils- please offer better options for parking than this highly questionable app.
Poor quality app. Crashed when switching apps resulting in needing to create an account. Trust your credit card details with someone so incompetent?
Charges fees for sms reminders and keeps a balance on account. Asks for more information than really required. Could be better.
I think it is great. No more hunting for coins.
Easy and accessible EVERYWHERE
Makes.life so easy
Please improve the app. It logs out, is a pain to set up. And it's almost a must for most parking stations if you don't have coinage. Would probably cop a fine while trying to set this up and pay for your parking. Recommended sitting in your car while you telepathically run to the pay station to get the zone number I have seen parking inspectors begin to fine people while sitting in the car. I still feel this app needs improvement. Rather than dismiss client claims how about actually improving the app?
What a pathetic app. City of Yarra switched to this app. Requires too much info like year of birth. And what a process with the password. Caps, upper-case, lower case, an offering and a kidney. And why do you have to stop the meter? So people forget to press stop and this company and the council can charge the max rate if the user forgets to stop the meter. Why can't you top up like the other apps that cater for this service. I'm going to feed this back to council and hopefully delete this app
Automatically adds funds when you hit the minimum limit without telling you. Why is it even necessary? EasyPark just charges your credit card with the amount that your parking costs. With PayStay I'm now stuck with $12 in an account I'll probably never use because I'm from interstate and only borrowed a car for the day. Just an excuse for them to take more money off users.
Makes you set up some auto fill bullshit. I don't even know what for. I made mine the minimum of $5, with $5 add on if it gets below. My parking stay cost $11. So they took out $5 and then $11 from my account. I literally can't think of a situation where having money held in your park account would be useful. Just take the money when needed. Wankers.
Instead of 5minutes spent fumbling with coins it was spent on account set up, so it's a tie. However there was no reminder or disclosure warning at all during/after setting up on surcharge for credit card payment (which is what this is for! Paid $0.48 on top of the expected $8 parking fee ) Or sms reminder charge ($0.26). Tried looking into FAQ and online, but no explanation anywhere. Albeit small amount, it is still dodgy to charge without telling up front and only leave you to find out when it's deducted.
This app is not good. The city of Yarras last app worked heaps better. I had to submit a new email address as it says mine was already taken but wouldn't offer a sign in page, only a sign up page. It is also poorly thought out. User friendly it is not. The KISS rule has definitely not being followed.
I love the option for vehicle "registered in a different country" - I wonder how often that is needed? Don't like how it takes more money than required to pay for parking. Unfortunate that councils are so technologically illiterate to recognise a bad user experience. Easypark is a much better experience, and only takes money required.
Waste of time & money. The password req is far too complicated. Phoned hoping to find some help but was told the app is easier. It would be easier AND cheaper to have walked to get coins. Shame the meter was broken. Parking inspector was there too & agreed!
Database consultant's Very poor . Don't use. They take your money. Then when you want your remaining money back they make it very very hard and in the end you give up because it's to much hassle. They don't need all this info to sign up. Wt! Edit your reply: no staff are not helpful and the card I used for for purchase still have no refund. Your so calls legal requirements stop even your clients from the return of there money.
Asks for too much info, and too complex a password for setting up on the spot when all you want to do is put $2 in the meter.
Illogical sign up process when you're trying to organise your parking, sneaky reminder fees and auto top up instead of just being charged for what you use. Poor business ethics from the app maker that leaves users that are out of change with no other choice. Basically a parking ranger embodied in an app. Well done Database Consultants Australia.
This app is the pits. Rubbish design and user friendliness. God help you if you want to add or edit rego of a car. Or forget your login or password. Oh hang on! I registered with my mobile number. Rubbish app.
This APP ROCKS. No more searching for coins or overpaying for your parking. Easy to setup, easier to use. Saves you time, MONEY and parking tickets. You only pay for time parked. Ignore the bad reviews.
Metered parking should be much more flexible and straight forward like shopping centers that print tickets and take photos of your license plate. Not recieve a fine because you don't input some code on arrival. What's wrong with paying after? Put in a system to monitor that makes that option available. These things never get rolled out properly.
Just tried to use it, but the installation process is long and got cancelled when I tried to tab out. Reentered all the details, just to get to the point where it tells me I have to set a top up amount. Why not just charge the actual cost to my card? I don't want money sitting in your account until I use it next. Uninstalled
Installed on Samsung Galaxy as the ticket machine in Fitzroy said install Paystay. Signed up,paid up front and then the app wouldnt allow me to enter zone bt10 as it only accepts numerals not letters.Tried to select location from map and it the says only available in gold coast...refund please. Couldnt use the money deposited to pay for parking as couldnt enter the zone .
I am virtually never going to use this app and there is no option other than to have a minimum of $5 in the account at any point in time. As soon as it goes below $5 it tops up another $10.
So there is no way to add new vehicles on the app? Huge waste of time now I am late.
Why on earth would this app charge you to send a parking notification. This is absurd for any sort mobile app. Shame on you!
Uni has just installed this but foe the first 2 weeks of January it wouldn't accept visa Debit card. Now it won't accept my Qld number plate in the form - just repeating "use valid number plate". Too hard, uninstalled and will use the campus parking machines instead.
Way too convoluted and not very user friendly. If I can, I will not use this again
When I had a short stay in Geelong I used PayByPhone for parking, which was a wonderful experience. Going through the registration process here and got to the minimum balance/top up bullcrap and stopped dead. Then came here and read all the reviews and your responses. Your business model sucks, and your competitors offer a much better user experience. Read your ex-user's reviews, guys. Very few of them want a post-pay system if it means leaving money in your bank account and not their own. Also, "You can submit a request for account closure at any time - just call or email." Big red-flag and obvious disincentive. Make it possible to close the damn account and get a refund via the web-site and app. People don't trust you and your responses to negative reviews are doing nothing to effect that. And rather than telling Christoph that you, "understand that the PayStay system isn’t for everyone, so the best option would be to carry coins to cover your parking payments in the future." which is equivalent to, "if you don't like it, piss off" how about incorporating a pre-pay option or some other model that doesn't involve keeping other people's money in your bank account. Seems like there are a lot of potential customers you are not getting because your business model sucks. Councils, please pick a competitor to these guys that offers good service to your customers.
What a sad excuse of an app. How do counsel's agree to signing up to this crap.
What the hell? You can't enter a different car number plate.
Absolutely shocking system. Download at your own risk. This automatic system sucks your bank account dry.
Surprised about the complaints.Great app to save money and time.No need to get back to your vehicle to top up etc. No sense to me complaints about own stupidity.
"Tops up" past the limit you've set. Absolute garbage
I used it for first time yesterday and had no problems at all. Was quick and easier than messing about with coins.
Screw this app. Trying to pay for an hour public street parking shouldn't be this annoying to set up nor should it be a business enterprise opportunity for an app to leech personal details, spam promotional emails, and doc your card for auto reminders. After fluffing around with set up I finally get the option to check T&Cs - tap the link and app closes and resets. No T&Cs and back to the start. Only a moron would hand over unnecessary personal info to a database mine company without checking T&Cs. In most other states the public parking meters actually accept credit cards - tap, print, park. So why does Melbourne use this garbage?
It lets you top up a meter beyond the actual limit and then you get fined. I also suspect parking inspectors are notified when it expires so they can come and fine you.

Scam artists! Minimum account balances, pointless sms reminder charges (in 2017). If you forget to end your stay you get overcharged as a result. The list goes on. Not to mention requesting all our personal data. I just want to park my car and not get shaken down. Shame on you Melbourne City council. Get your act together.
