About Manual Flash Calculator (Free)

Manual Flash Calculator (Free Edition) provides a handy utility for accurately determining flash-subject distance. It's quick and easy to use for tricky lighting situations where TTL auto-flash can often struggle.

This app is ad-free, and requires no special device permissions.

Key Features:

• Aperture range F/1.2 to F/22
• ISO range ISO50 to ISO6400
• Flash output ratios to 1/256 power
• Flash exposure compensation to 5 EV
• Zoom support for unlimited guide settings
• Power increments in 1/3, 1/2 or Full stops
• Macro closeup distances (in and cm)

Set the guide number/zoom coverage, power-ratio limit, power adjustment interval, and guide number units for your flash. (You can find this information from the guide number table in your flash user manual).

If you own more than one flash unit, please consider upgrading to Manual Flash Calculator Professional. It supports an unlimited number of flash configurations, and costs less than the price of a cup of coffee!

No comment...Great, but just uninstall! I'm a beginner, so, a better way to learn... my fault ! Sorry.

This app is exactly what I was looking for, as my Nissin i40 has no distance input / read out. However, the i40's manual only has zoom settings for 24mm thru 105mm, so I need to know what figures I input to the app's settings for the other zoom ranges it features?

Maybe next update add adjustment to distance feature. Also add donation.

Using a LG g3, and can't go to any other screen, saw the entry about lower left button, but that doesn't work on this phone.

But a simple checkbox choice between zoom or non-zoom would have been much better than "set the same guide number for each zoom position.". Yeah, nah. Suggestion: a list: First entry in the old style - a simple slider for GN - max/min defined by user. Followed by a number of (standard and) user defined entries for zoomable units. This would allow those of use with numerous strobes to easily select between the ones we can't zoom with the old GN slider, and the ones we can zoom by selecting a different strobe definition from the list. Preferably also allow us to define the focallenght for the various zoom GN rather than have to pick from an assumed set.

What about the settings for the zoom?

It works great. On my Galaxy 5 Active you must hold down the lower left button for 2 seconds to bring up the settings menu. This is a phone issue not an application issue!

been searching for an app like this. even tho lot of people don't use the guidenumber system anymore. for those who shoot with manual flashes, no matter u are strobist or a film shooter. this app can comes in very handy! no extra permission is a plus (compare to version 1.x) and this app is TINY! GOOD JOB! If anything on the wishlist, it would be 1/3 stop on power setting
