Hema Explorer

Ok I Used to like this App Heaps, however last night I updated it to the latest version...... I already had all areas of the Hema Explorer map downloaded, and each 'Extra Area' map downloaded. Now to app completely fails to even open anymore. Not happy

Just downloaded this app and all it does is crash when opened. And yes i have lodged a damn ticket. And yes i am $99 out of pocket for an app that doesnt work. Far from impressed HEMA

Trying to download maps. It crashes. No maps like when I first purchased it. It's now nothing like i paid for. $10 per month or $60 per year is just not worth it.. UPDATE 31/12/16: Wow what a stuff around. I had to update my tablet from Android 4.1.2 to 4.4.2 to even make the new version of HEMA to run. I had to Google the Tab 10.1 update and piss fart around with software to update it. BEWARE that the original version of HEMA ran fine, it has only been since the updates that it had stopped working, so if it's working fine on an older version of Android, it might pay NOT to update.

Have waited months for a solution to not installing on my tablet running 4.4.2. Tried instal on my HTC phone. No surprise, it didn't. Rubbish app. Do not recommend installing. A refund would be nice.

Great App initially had a small glitch that was rectified within about 1 minute of sending the help email through. The maps with the pro subscription have great detail as promised with extra thinks like AWD/4WD marked tracks, will definitely be getting a lot of use from now on.

New update, my hema explorer was working fine ON MY ASUS 7 until now it go to startup video and stops what a turn out, I PAYED for this app, it also don't work on other devices over 12 months old, you people think that we all got a money tree in the back yard, you better fix it. WHAT A RIP OFF. Put your complaints on Facebook and let everyone know about this. (Hema explorer on facebook) and the up coming monthly fee ha ha what a joke?

Using Android version 4.2.2. Since update Legends do not work screen dims and nothing happens. Zoom levels have been restricted unless you want to pay for the Pro version a blatant ripoff by HEMA. Would not recommend it to anyone. The latest version out 20/12/16 will not even load. HEMA's reply "We are not supporting older versions of android. Thanks for nothing you pack of thieves. As an older Australian I don't have a lot of money to buying new devices all the time just because HEMA is to lazy to make their App work on all devices. Have reported on Ticket ID #CQE-887-20050 and have been told will not be fixed. Yet on this site you claim will run on OS 4.1 and up which is false advertising.

When I first purchased this app it worked great and was easy to use. It auto updated recently and now has constant issues. Already had tec help twice but there is only so much time I am willing to spend fixing and re-learning how to use an app I paid for. Un-install and re-install just presented me with new problems. After reading the latest reviews it appears to be updates made by Hema to "compell" users into upgrading to pro and downloading maps again. Seems the best advice Hema can give disgruntled customers is "submit a ticket for tec help". Your not getting anymore of my time or $ THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH CUSTOMER SUPPORT AND I REFUSE TO GO THROUGH THIS A THIRD TIME. HEMA IS RIPPING PEOPLE OF BY CHANGING THE APP AFTER THE PURCHASE HAS BEEN MADE. Don't waste your money people.

What a joke still no fix since the lastest update release and we are now in February . People give MYTRAILS app a go way better and it does not crash like hema and under $4 and you can download satellite and topo for offline use

worked well on my old tablet but now that i have updated cant get it to load or work. once talked to customer support will update review if it works

WARNING, DO NOT INSTALL WITHOUT WIFI. Just updated to the new version and upgraded to explorer pro and immediately had to uninstall. It started downloading several Gb of maps right away without warning me. I looked in vain for the option to download on WiFi only (it doesn't have one). Then I told it to pause download, it said it was paused but continued to download. I then force closed the app. It restarted itself to download in the background several times. Had to uninstall. I hope I'll be able to finish the download at home and it won't do this all the time. This type of behaviour is completely unacceptable, especially when the sub is $60. If you don't have an app to monitor data usage this could burn you badly. Update, still doing this but also crashes constantly and is barely useable. Do not confuse the quality of the maps (very good) with the quality of this app (appalling). Months of this and still hasn't been fixed.

Great app and service! This app has made it possible to confidently navigate thru remote areas and explore unknown areas with ease. I haven't found a better product out there. Had an issue and was contacted immediately by support to rectify the issue.

Although this app does take up a large amount of storage, I really like it. Initially, I did not 'get' the layers bit but now that I have found how the layers work it is very useful indeed and I am looking forward to planning my trip in detail!

After much hesitation decided to load this new version on my phone (have kept earlier version on tablet pre 3.0 updates) Spent 3 hours d/ling. What a POS just as everyone else has been saying. Will not zoom past 14.9x and the maps look absolutely no different to any earlier version and crshes app and phone all the time. WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T INSTALL THIS LATEST VERSION!!! And if you want to roll this back there are ways you just need to google it! ;-)

I have had this app for 6 weeks ir will not work am all a tempts to get tequnical support have failed

Great app, very versatile, had no problems installing or using despite negative feedback after the December '16 upgrade. If you like detail, the additional info available through the subscription is well worth it. Great work HEMA!!

I thought I would give them a chance. However I would not rely on this in the field at all. Maps I have downloaded over wifi stop randomly being seen by the app. Only some map tiles load up when travelling even though I have downloaded the entire country. Maybe when they can fix everything it will be useful. - Ticket submitted - #WKU-348-56441

I had an issue with my account when i purchased the app. Phoned support and was blown away with exceptional service. Have used most navigation apps on android and apple devices. I have now deleted all other navigation apps and only now use this one. Take some time to learn how to use it. I have used it on a number of trips, and into some very rugged country and it has performed flawlessly. Worth every cent you pay, compared to some other navigation apps it is not expensive.

A lot of tracks are not accurate, and when I zoom in too high it just shows a graph grid pattern. I can set waypoints and it seems to work well for that, overall Hmmmm not so good to at best ok, tracks need to be way more up to date. And unless I'm doing something wrong the zoom needs to go in a lot tighter. I don't use this for tracks anymore, I only use it when on foot, due to the deficiencies.

I paid good money for this app on my android and now after this update thing the hema app wont even start up!! (Asus tf700 ) now if you cant fix this problem for me i want a full refund....i have spend way too much time on this app and all the valuable download data all gone!!! Lucky i wasnt out in bush when this happen! Not happy

App works ok..zooming in and out can be slow sometimes and the gps occasionally bugs a little. Also it would be nice if you could add differnt icon pins for historic sites camping grounds and the like so we can add them to our maps ourselves if we need to it would loom better and be easier to navigate rather then just using waypoint flags...the only thing i really dont like is paying for the app initially and then having to subscribe to get the pro edition choose one or the other not both

I complained at the first major update along with many others. Months have passed and yet the same issues are occurring. Hema, you are damaging your brand here. A once great app is now terrible, how many times must people complain? Sort this out, people have paid good money for this

Zoom level lost, does not load properly without a data connection making it useless on a Wi-Fi only tablet away from home. Original version worked fine when I crossed the Simpson Desert. Yes, I know how the new layers work. Why did I need to download over 4gb of maps, when they won't load without a data connection?

Absolute rubbish, was such a great app, presumably destroyed by greed. Auto updated itself while I was on holiday through mobile data despite me having set it to update via WiFi only. My entire monthly data plus some sucked up by this ignorant app, resulting in an excess data charge. From an app that was an absolute joy to use to a piece of crap that I wouldn't recommend to a dog. If minus stars were available this garbage would earn it

This app was probably a 3 star. Today I can't use it at all. It opens with a "Get Started" screen and button, as soon as you click it the app crashes and disappears. It's now completely useless.

Initiał subsription didn't activate properly but a call to support sorted that out. Very happy with the level of detail but needs a few more features to give it a 5 star, like search by UTM if that is your coordinate setting.

Can't download satellite images any more. Can't search for 4wd tracks by name. No Billy Goat, Ellis, Blowhard, Cockpit, Not Much Help, Aeroplane, etc. What is the point of a search function if you can't find the 4wd tracks? Hopeless. Google maps knows where I am better than this app. Terrible in Vic.

As it seems with many others the latest update is broken. White screen and crash. Telling people to submit a ticket when your on holidays till the 9th January doesn't help. Fire your release team who did an obviously untested update right before holidays...Pure genius !

This app used to be an easy to use & reliable navigation option. Now it is the most user Un-friendly app i have ever used. Hema needs to admit defeat & go back to the original format that everyone bought & loved. Completely useless now!!

It was great once I got used to how it worked and was able to use it for what I wanted to do with it. But some geniuses thought it would be a great idea to launch an update RIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS and now it crashes and is goid for not much more than a waste of storage space. I hope the team at HEMA enjoyed their holidays while it looks like the rest of us suffered pointlessly to get this app to work. Will update my review when HEMA update the app so its useable!

Was great b4 update but now crashes & does not start. Looks like a common problem based on the comments from the last month or so. Have the pro subscription so not to happy that im being charged for nothing.

This app is very slow to load maps and not detailed enough for topographical info unless you're willing to pay even more. Not worth the $50!!!

Hema explorer used to be a great app. Since the December update it is unusable. Will not load on galaxy android. Very disappointing. Looks like I need to find a new app.

Installed this app 18 months ago. I gave it 5 stars then and thoughly enjoyed using it. Unfortunately I recently downloaded an upgrade and now I find the maps and indeed the app pretty well useless off-line. Very disappointing

Over night upgraded from 3.0.3 to 3.0.4, first time launching the app after the upgrade was on a cell network and it immediately downloaded 4gb of data costing me $50 in excess data usage. Not happy about that, though the update looks with while, Just launch it while on wifi

Wasted my time and money for a week with no responce or support on a hema product that just doesnt work. Very poor effort Hema

DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APP, NOT WORTH $1, Poor customer service, blamed all there faults on me, rude, arrogant. Lost all my data due to there inabilty to convey and only cost me more money. Recently did an update. Next time i used the app it used 4.68gb of data....WTF? Just cost me $40.00 worth of data, thanks alot hema..........6/1, Cant even submit a ticket as it says my email address entered is invalid. Useless !!!! 4th time lucky #JXK-543-22441

I paid about $50 for the app years ago, it was good. Now I can't access any useful zoom levels on the latest update without paying a monthly subscription. What rubbish, absolute greed. Don't waste your time or money, google maps is just as good vs the basic functionality of this but free.

Purchased app a few months back on samsung tablet ready for upcoming summer. Tracks and camp sites planned. On the day we set off the app stopped working, as soon as it would open within seconds it would close saying error had occurred. I tried everything from removing storage to uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times, memory maps saved the day costing nothing.

I would like a refund. I am so disappointed with this apps. I have a very high expectation with HEMA, I will not use this. give me back the money i paid.
